Researching possible group reincarnations

Hi all,

This is my first post to this forum and I hope I can get some help here. I've been reading a book by James S. Perkins called Experiencing Reincarnation. On page 31 he writes, "The mystics and saints who were present on earth during the birth of Christianity, apparently returned in medieval Europe to strengthen the growth of that religion." Now, I find this intriguing because it actually corresponds pretty closely with some things that were privately mentioned by a yogi (to his disciples) who taught in the US about 80 years ago.

Perkins, according to the author blurb, was heavily involved with the Theosophical Society so his information may have come from one of their publications but I'm not at all familiar with this organization. Does anyone here have any ideas or tips as to how I can go about finding out more about this topic? Is anyone aware of a particular author or publication relevant to this assertion? I'd love to read more about this; it seems super fascinating. Any help or advice is appreciated.

On a side note, I haven't seen any threads about famous reincarnations (say, famous person A later lived as famous person B). (I know there are threads about famous people who believe/believed in reincarnation.) The personal reincarnation memory threads are very interesting, but some postings on famous individuals and their reincarnations would certainly be fascinating and informative, no? Are such threads against the rules?

Hello Rabbit.run and thank you for joining us here. That is a very interesting question you have regarding soul groups. I have not come across any thing specifically to that idea, but it certainly sounds plausible. I have often felt that form of familiarity with the people of my small rural community. It just seems we've been together many times. But the idea of the mystics and saints traversing time together... I'd love to read what you find out. i'll check some resources I have too. It makes sense!


Regarding famous people claims... we've dealt with this before. Unfortunately it it has always had a negative connotation to it. The believability factor is intimidating to many. But over the years we have discussed the subject. Enter the words into the search engine, you'll find them there. Check out this FAQ there some good info here: Famous past lives...

Regarding the famous past lives topic:


I wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean a discussion of some random individual's claim that he was a famous person in the past. That wouldn't be very helpful to us. There's very little we could do to verify such a claim.


Rather, I meant that we could discuss the possible reincarnations of major historical figures. For example, there is a book out that makes the case that Abraham Lincoln reincarnated as Charles Lindbergh. A thread on this claim would include evidence for and against the possibility, karmic continuities, the reborn cast of characters, and so on. This, I think, could be helpful and informative to many people. However, I can think of one problem that would come up immediately: how would we choose which claims to investigate? It might be difficult to agree upon a "reputable" past life for a historical figure. Various authors, "psychics", and, "experts" make conflicting claims as to the past lives of famous people. That being said, once we agree upon a historical figure and a past life possibility to investigate, this could become a very fruitful topic.
 
Rabbit, what you are talking about sounds something like the Return of the Revolutionaries. If my memory serves me, it was based on a book by the same name. They have a lot of information on just this topic. There are even a few of our members mentioned on their web site. Check it out and see what you think. It also, as I remember has some excellent photograph comparisons.

Tman, thanks for the link to Semkiw's site. I've checked out his work many times over the years. The photographic evidence is startling but I find most of his possible reincarnations totally implausible. The biggest warning sign for me is his claim that saints come back as totally random, normal people. From what I've read, saints (that is, highly evolved souls) come back as saints (if they come back at all); they don't continue to meander as most souls do. Semkiw claims that St. Teresa of Avila has come back as this woman Susan Trout. I find this preposterous. I have found the same problems with other books on the same topic. I'm more interested in discussing a very small number of specific cases. Some examples might be: Hitler as Alaric the Bold or Alexander the Great; Churchill as Napoleon.
 
I'm sure I've missed the true question behind your post, so please forgive me if I have and for taking up bandwidth.


In my opinion, if individuals reincarnate in groups, it would be to bolster or strengthen the group as a whole, for a certain purpose or goal (as in: the individual components of the group combine to make a stronger group) such as in Photographic chemicals.


An extreme for the GOOD would be a very good goal such as individuals like Jesus Christ, Mary, John the Baptist and so on.


Or another extreme at the BAD end of the balance would be individuals like Hitler, Himmler, Heydrich, Goebels, and so on.


And every goal in between and every individual in between, because (again IMHO) I believe that the majority of the "common" people have goals to fulfill in their lifetimes just like famous people.


Nature, I believe operates as a balance, striving strongly to bring the balance to the center, but failing badly at times.

Hi Rabbit.run, and welcome to the Forum. I hope you won't mind me putting forth my own opinion that it seems plausible that soul groups are often reincarnated together, sometimes for specific reasons that may have some effect on World History. However, I have found very little evidence for this happening. Like you, I found Semkiw's references to be somewhat of a reach, and a few of the photographs to be incredibly vague. I think there is much more evidence for people being reincarnated with family members. Have you read Carol's books?

I must admit one of my favorite pastimes is speculating which famous person might have been some other famous person, but it's easy to get in a lot of trouble with stuff like that so I try to keep it to myself most times ... you know what they say about the word "assume" (it makes an "***" out of "u" and "me"). As to family members reincarnating together, I agree that there is much more evidence for that phenomenon.


I have not read Ms. Bowman's books. However, I have read many books that are similar in nature.


I suppose I should be more concrete in explaining what I'm trying to research. Perhaps an example of one of these reincarnated figures will help: There's a reasonable chance (imo) that Saint Ferdinand III of Castille was one of the reincarnated figures from the time of Christ. He may have incarnated to further the Christianization of the West.


But who exactly was he in that earlier time? Was he Christ, one of Christ's disciples, someone else in the Bible? That's the kind of interesting stuff I'd love to look into (with the help of others).

Jody, I hear you. I try to keep my theories/speculations to myself too (most of the time). If you do want to share some of your speculations, though, (on this thread, another thread, or in some other way) I'd *love* to hear them. I once asked (on a different forum) for help in trying to figure out who FDR was previously. No one even went so far as to venture a guess! That was really disappointing.


The link you provided is really great. There has to be some deep connection between Abe and JFK; no way that's all just coincidence. I, however, am of the mind that Lincoln came back as Lindbergh (not JFK). The book I mentioned earlier (the one that argues Lincoln reincarnated as Lindbergh -- it's called Soul Journey, by Richard Salva) isn't very persuasive but it has some cool information in it. Plus you can get it for less than $6 (including S/H) on abebooks.


And that thing about the word "assume" -- I've never heard that before. It's hilarious!
