Servant -- master

Anyone else here who remembers either having been a servant or the master or lady of the house in past life / past lives ? I wonder if there is something to learn there.

I remembered that I in one life worked for a family, I was a young woman, and I helped deliver a baby to the lady of the house. I think I have written about this on this forum before. As turns out the lady of the house was either bisexual or lesbian, and it was a tricky situation.

In another I was a child and we had servants in our home and one of them was a girl around my age so we played and were the best of friends but there was always this sharp tone there when ever we crossed the line, I remember wanting to call her my sister and they forbid it. I wanted us to borrow each other clothes, but it was forbidden. It was very visible that we belonged to different worlds just looking at the way we were dressed. I was not allowed up to their part of the house which naturally only fed my imagination so I would try to sneak up there anyhow. When I was an adult I simply brought her with me when I married to work with us, but I got comments from my husband that I should remember my place, my position in the house. This husband used violence to punish me for all sorts of things. I think if I had truly loved him I would have let him take my spirit but because I never had, I always held back even before that, why I don't know, it was harder for him to break my spirit, I think. Looking at my servant-girl I could see the fear in her eyes that something bad was to happen and she was not allowed to do anything about it.

To me it was remarkable in both these past lives that one lived so very close to one another, yet all the rules that kept us apart, it's fascinating.

Do anyone else have any memories or thoughts they would like to share about this, please do :) I'd love to read them.

Hi Jaimie,

The situation you describe is one that may not be as common in the modern era in the West, but as far as I can tell, it has been a constant feature of advanced civilizations throughout history. I.e., a class or caste system that divides society into defined strata based on wealth and/or other criteria with mixing between the strata being forbidden or discouraged. It is a bit less rigid at this point in time in most Western countries, where ideals of egalitarianism (a very modern concept) tend to moderate its features. However, IMO it still exists to some extent almost everywhere, including in the West.

As long as there are substantial differences in wealth, I do not see how it could be eliminated.

Cordially,
