Sleep Paralysis Nightmare

From my personal experience, IMHO entities who were at one time in a body, are a lot like us, they bring to the mix, an assortment of personalities, much like when they were alive in a body, but for some reason or another, decide not to go any further, thereby trapping themselves in limbo, between the Earthly plane and the higher Heavenly planes.

Either out of fear, of the unknown or perhaps fear of punishment for deeds from a previous lifetime, they elect to stagnate in between planes instead of crossing over to the other side, perhaps this is actually Hell, just existing in a self-imposed darkness, cut off from the energy of their Creator and not being in the warmth of his Light, IMHO, this would be a Hell for me, to be cut off from his love.

The other type of entity, is one that has never occupied a human body and at the very least, they can be mischievous and at the very most, they have the potential to be somewhat dangerous, but to me, IMHO the most dangerous creature is one that somehow separates us from the Light of our Creator.

Whether an entity, either once in a body or never been in a body, poses a problem, one way to protect yourself while having an "Out of Body Experience" (OOBE) or "Astral Projection" (AP) is to call upon the name of the Creator, whatever it be to you, God, Jehovah or whatever you are comfortable with, these names carry with them a power that the entities do not wish to tangle with.

Call upon his (or her) name and also invoke an image in your mind of you standing in a circle, bathed in a bright, white, pure light from above, enveloping you in it's protective circle of light.

These guidelines have worked for me all of my life (I'll be 60 in July) and they may work for you also, but as always, your "mileage may vary" from individual to individual.

Well, I will say that after pummeling the living daylights out of it (thanks, Michael!), it hasn't been back, but it could just be taking a break. It was quite a few months between the last round and the one prior, though, so I'm not dropping my spiritual guard anytime soon.

hello shiftkitty

during my college years i had very strong happenings of sleep paralysis. i did some research to indeed find thats what i was experiencing. i've read that the body does go into this standby mode in sleep and if you're conscious during that then your brain is in more of an alert state. like an, alpha vs delta.

this is what i've read. i still get sleep paralysis with auditory hallucinations and even visuals. i later used what i knew from personal experience with sleep paralysis to perform a short but succesful O.B.E

but that's not why i'm posting.

i used to be terrified, especially when i was new to it all(it's still very scary sometimes). i would try slamming my head forward to wake up and nothing. my heart rate would increase and the level of energy i had in trying to wake up only caused stress to my nerves. i notice you put a lot of energy in fighting the shadow figure and felt compelled to share what has been the fastest way to break free for me.

next time you feel fearful during sleep paralysis, or even, stressed and have unwelcomed visitors- instead of tensing up and placing energy in your defense- calm down and breath. if you're just beginning to notice your sleep paralysis then you're going to feel a tingly sensation and/or a gentle weight creeping up your body. relax and focus on your breath. try breathing through your nose. send your attention there and then tell yourself you're going to wake up now. once you do this, direct your awareness to your big toe. rather then trying to quickly jar out of sleep, or throw up your mental defense- use that energy and place it on your toe. tell your mind you're going to wiggle that toe. once you do, it will begin to move with direct effort- you will break free and wake up.

this has been the fastest/easiest way for me. try it out. sometimes i fall back asleep quickly and the tingly sensation comes back- but when it does i am calmer and welcome the feeling. i breath and try to remind myself i am safe and just let go. but if i am again scared then i will repeat the process, get up and stretch- turn to my side versus lay on my back- and fall asleep.

i hope this helps, i know this thread is a couple months old. are you still around ?

That was a really good post, and good advice. We have other members suffering from sleep disturbance, and that should help a lot of people, me included - thank you!

I am still around, I just haven't had much to say for awhile.

Thank you for the advice. I will certainly try that if it ever happens again. It hasn't happened for awhile, but it sounds like sound, sage advice. Thanks again!

I would recommend telling it to leave and enforcing dominance over your domain. I've read accounts of numerous similar experiences of this dark figure who is cruel and exerts force over someone while they lay asleep. It confirms that I'm not alone in this experience.

I'm not sure an explanation though. My one guess is that it could be residual imprints of a past life enemy. For instance, say you were murdered or attacked in a past life and those residual imprints stayed with you? I'm not sure if this is the case though, so not to be scared. The problem is that the imprint seems to lack intelligence, so it can latch onto your thoughts. It's extremely negative, but forcing it out while exhausting has benefits. I've thought also it could be some sort of vampire, but I don't actually think the manifestation is a sentient being, but a collective psychic imprint of some-sort.

I've thought also, that it could be a version of what Christians called satan. Although, I think those who "fight satan" or fight negativity have a lot more power and strength. The other thing is, Christians often appeal to a higher power to fight for them. Often it takes two to tango, if an Angel can fight darkness why shouldn't a lightworker be able to? Well my guidance has told me some things are beyond our control or means.

My nightmares stopped after I prayed to God of Light/Love. I have battled the nightmare telepathically and seemed to weaken it. I used to be able to spin out of its grip and spontaneously wake myself up. It seemed latched to my aura or energy, and it was trying to absorb it because I can project sometimes. Other times, it seemed to prevent me from projecting too far.

I used to also have schizophrenia, but now my label has changed as well. Using lightwork, meditation, visualization and healing I was able to overcome the illness. I sometimes wondered if the nightmare was just a hallucination too. It could be a hallucination of stress.

That would probably make the most sense. But where often people with schizophrenia hear negative voices or insertion I learned to banish the negativity, and turn my illness into a gift.

Like I used to hear a man talking, and it seemed to be some negative association to trauma. Now I have transformed it to a "wise woman" archetype. She is only present sometimes, and she is more like an Angel or Guardian. It is hard to describe, but it's not like a voice. It's more like a nudge in the right direction when I get lost or confused.

To me, the mind is full of archetypes and powers. We are the bridge between. But psychiatry itself can also be traumatic because they teach you to dismiss any psychic gifts or abilities as unreal.

Many also believe schizophrenia is derived from a deep traumatic experience. For me, it was from going vegetarian during the winter and losing a lot of weight. I was also not sleeping. I think my body just shut down due to stress. I got better, but the addition of medication caused a deep wound in my subconscious, where I try to infer who I truly am vs. the "broken individual" they told me I was. And I proved them that I wasn't, over time, they couldn't refuse the truth that I haven't been ill in about seven or eight years.

So in essence, I believe anything can be healed.

I'm no stranger to this. And frankly, it all depends on you. If you believe it is real then you can tolerate it, if you think it is a figment of the imagination then you can probably still deal with it. Praying didn't work for me but I believe God came to me in other ways. It's different for all of us.

I believe something has attached to you for some reason.?

I think you need to go to a good reputable psychic.

That does spirtual cleansing .

I don't know what is ? it seems very bad.

It's rare for sleep paralysis to be a symptom of a psychiatric problem but it is frequently linked to stress or being over-tired. Leg cramps used to trigger it for me when I was younger but the biggest cause for me was sleeping on my back.
