Songs about Reincarnation

Argh! Meant to post in this thread!

If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do
Don't you?

If I had ever been here before on another time around the wheel

I would probably know just how to deal

With all of you.

And I feel

Like I've been here before

Feel

Like I've been here before

And you know

It makes me wonder

What's going on under the ground

Do you know?

Don't you wonder?

What's going on down under you.

We have all been here before

We have all been here before

We have all been here before

We have all been here before
Crosby Stills Nash & Young-Deja Vu

Great melody

I am not the world's biggest Aerosmith fan, but the lyrics to their old song "Kings and Queens" are pretty fitting for this forum. Here they are:

Long ago in days untold

Were ruled by lords of greed

Maidens fared with gold they dared

To bare their wombs that bleed

Kings and queens and guillotines

Taking lives denied

Starch and parchment laid the laws

When bishops took the ride

Only to deceive

Oh, I know

I lived this life afore

Somehow I know now

Truths I must be sure

Tossin', turnin', nightmares burnin'

Dreams of swords in hand

Sailing ships, the Viking spits

The blood of father's land

Only to deceive

Living times of knights and mares

Raising swords for maidens fair

Sneer at death, fear only loss of pride

Living other centuries

Deja vu or what you please

Follows true to all who do or die

Screams of no reply

They died

Screams of no reply

And died

Died

Lordy, Lordy, they died

I've been listening to the Moody Blues a lot lately, and got to see them in concert last night, which was fantastic. I think they have a few songs that would be at home in this thread, but this one has been in my head the last couple of days. Enjoy.

The sun is still shining, look at the view

The moon is still dining with me and you

Now that we're out here, open your heart

To the universe, of which we're a part

Everything's turning, turning around

See with your mind, leave your body behind

Now that we're out here, open your heart

To the universe, of which we're a part

But if you want to play

Stay right back on earth

Waiting for rebirth

The sun is still shining, look at the view

The moon is still dining, with me and you

Now that we're out here, open your heart

To the universe, of which we're a part

But if you want to play

Stay right back on earth

Waiting for rebirth

Soul On Board

I was born at the wrong time

A child lost on the skyline

So I looked deep within me

Somehow touched by the real me

had to find another way

So take the heart of this man

Heal the pain with your hands

Shelter me from rain

Help eyes to see again

Free me

Hold me close

And take my soul board

Shallow waters we drown in

From the deep calling you are calling

And with your touch I drift away

With fear & pride I live and die

A sliver light in the blue night

You come to me

Take my heart be my guide

Lay your strength by my side

And cover me from rain

Now my eyes can see again

Free me

Hold me close

Through the dark skies you led my sprit home

You took my soul on board

Where or when

There's a great old song from the 1930s, from Babes in Arms, called Where or When, by Richard Rodgers.

It's about that moment when you meet someone the first time but know you've met them before.

VERSE

Sometimes you think you've lived before

All that you live today

Things you do come back to you

As though they knew the way

Oh, the tricks your mind can play!

REFRAIN

It seems we stood and talked like this before

We looked at each other in the same way then,

But I can't remenber where or when.

The clothes youÍre wearing are the clothes you wore.

The smile you are smiling you were smiling then,

But i can't remember where or when.

Some things that happen for the first time,

Seem to be happening again.

And so it seems that we have met before

and laughted before and loved before,

But who knows where or when?

A Thousand Years

No apologies for the movie soundtrack upon which it is showcased:

Heart beats fast

Colors and promises

How to be brave?

How can I love when I'm afraid to fall

But watching you stand alone?

All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

[Chorus:]

I have died everyday waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid I have loved you

For a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still

Beauty in all she is

I will be brave

I will not let anything take away

What's standing in front of me

Every breath

Every hour has come to this

One step closer

[Chorus:]

I have died everyday waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid I have loved you

For a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer

One step closer

[Chorus:]

I have died everyday waiting for you

Darling don't be afraid I have loved you

For a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more

Thought I'd add this one to the list, especially seeing as so many of us seem to remember lives during wartime.

Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel

The only girl I've ever loved

Was born with roses in her eyes

But then they buried her alive

One evening, 1945

With just her sister at her side

And only weeks before the guns

All came and rained on everyone

Now she's a little boy in Spain

Playing pianos filled with flames

On empty rings around the sun

All sing to say my dream has come

But now we must pick up every piece

Of the life we used to love

Just to keep ourselves

At least enough to carry on

And now we ride the circus wheel

With your dark brother wrapped in white

Says it was good to be alive

But now he rides a comet's flame

And won't be coming back again

The Earth looks better from a star

That's right above from where you are

He didn't mean to make you cry

With sparks that ring and bullets fly

On empty rings around your heart

The world just screams and falls apart

But now we must pick up every piece

Of the life we used to love

Just to keep ourselves

At least enough to carry on

And here's where your mother sleeps

And here is the room where your brothers were born

Indentions in the sheets

Where their bodies once moved but don't move anymore

And it's so sad to see the world agree

That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies

All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes

Music moves people in mysterious ways....

Music is the language of the soul. Sometimes there aren't enough words. That's when you need melody ... Otherwise, why would a young musician like this get so worked up over a song several hundred years old? I know why. Only love. It moves in mysterious ways...

As I roved out

...Folk phenom revisits Irish standard, gets weird in woods
Sam Amidon puts his unique touch on the old Irish folk song "As I Roved Out" on his brand new album Bright Sunny South, but he reinvents it even further for the video above. Directed by John Hardwick (Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Dido), the clip begins with our host standing in the woods, reading from a piece of paper: "This song is about how you might be out on a cold winter's night ... maybe you're trying to find some sort of inspiration. You look around, but at a certain point as you get out there, the sun goes down and the shapes of the trees start to emerge." ...
See. It's not just me. :)

This one isn't about reincarnation per se but as a kid I would listen to this non-stop over and over and over to the point my CD player and CD broke. Looking back I understand why now as it applies to so many of my lives:

You were there, you were small

There was screaming down the hall

I've been here sleeping all these years

There comes a time we all know

There's a place that we must go

Into the soul, into the heart

Into the dark

There was fire, there was death

There was lying on your breath

I turned away, I would pretend

But the burning never ends

I've been here sleeping all these years

There comes a time we all know

There's a place that we must go

Into the soul, into the heart

Into the dark

There was a wave over the house

There was fear choked in my mouth

You were there, you left your mark

As I stumbled in the dark

There comes a time we all know

There's a place that we must go

Into the soul, into the heart

Into the dark

There comes a time we all know

(There is a place)

There's a place that we must go

(We all must go)

Into the soul, into the heart

(Into the heart)

Into the dark

There comes a time we all know

(There is a place)

There's a place that we must go

(We all must go)

Into the soul, into the heart

(Into the heart we go)

Into the dark

There comes a time

(There is a place we all must go)

(Into the heart, Lord)

(There is a place we all must go)

(Into the heart)

Do you remember the name of this song? I wonder if it's on YouTube.

'

It's not the first time I've seen those eyes.

It's not the first time I've seen that smile.

It's not the first time I've seen those eyes.

Notice something you recognise?

Been away for don't know how long.

The world was empty when you were gone.

I've seen you, you've seen me, I've been you, you've been me, for so long.

I've seen you, you've seen me, I've been you, you've been me, can't be wrong.

Memories are free, experience is older.

It's not the first time I've seen that smile.

Don't you know it's been round a while?

It just feels like it's meant to be.

You and me through eternity.

I've seen you ....

The Verve

I see houses

Rows and rows of red bricks

I see black cars

Some blood stained exit

I get this feeling that I, I've been in here before

How many lives will I waste?

How many tears must I taste

Before my freedom, before my freedom?

I see mountains

Blood red sunsets

I see a billion stars

Love deafened in between

I get this feeling that I, I've been in here before

How many lives will I waste?

How many tears must I taste

Before my freedom, before my freedom?

I won't be late, won't be late

I won't be late, won't be late

Won't be late, won't be late

I get this feeling that I, I've been in here before

How many lives will I waste?

How many tears must I taste

Before my freedom?

I get this feeling that I, I've been in here before

How many lives will I waste?

How many tears must I taste

Before my freedom?

Murder, trouble and strife

Turn me into another guy

Murder, trouble and strife

Turn me into another guy

Murder, trouble and strife

Turn me into another guy

Don't be late, don't be late

Don't be late, don't be late

When I call, when I call

When I call you up

When I call you up

And for a more light-hearted song, here's Victoria Wood singing

where she imagines all the different lives she'd like to try living in the present day if she could!.

We' ll meet again by Vera lynn... allright allright I know the purpose of the song is not really to be about reincarnation, but how many of you think of your WWII people every time you hear this, eh? It also has that lovely 30's sound, sorry it's not Zarah Leander.

We'll meet again,

Don't know where,don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

Keep smiling through,

Just like you always do,

Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds, far away.

So will you please say hello,

To the folks that I know,

Tell them I won't be long,

They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go

I was singing this song.

We'll meet again,

Don't know where,don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

(choir)

We'll meet again,

Don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

Keep smiling through,

Just like you always do,

Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds, far away.

So will you please say hello,

To the folks that I know,

Tell them I won't be long,

They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go

I was singing this song.

We'll meet again,

Don't know where, don't know when.

But I know well meet again, some sunny day.

That's a lovely one Owl. This one has always had a 'subtext' feeling to it although I don't think it's specifically about that. It certainly makes me think of my friend X when I hear it... that same old feeling. It's by a band called Hunters and Collectors from my 'village'. Quite a big hit for them a few years ago. Beautiful love song whichever way you look at it.

I will come for you at nighttime

I will raise you from your sleep

I will kiss you in four places

As I go running along your street

I will squeeze the life out of you

You will make me laugh and make me cry

And we will never forget it

You will make me call your name

And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky

And we may never meet again

So she'd your skin and let's get started

And you will throw your arms around me

Yeah, you will throw your arms around me

I dreamed of you at nighttime

And I watched you in your sleep

I met you in high places

I touched your head and touched your feet

So if you disappear out of view

You know I will never say goodbye

And though I try to forget it

You will make me call your name

And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky...

And we may never meet again...

So shed your skin and let's get started

And you will throw your arms around me

Yeah, you will throw your arms around me

Marty Robbins had a hit around 1960 with the song El Paso. He later wrote two sequals, Faleena (the story told from Faleena's point of view) and El Paso City. El Paso City was written on a plane flying over El Paso, and it allegedly took him about 4 minutes to write it. The original El Paso, I read somewhere, was written as he and his family were driving through El Paso on their way to Phoenix.

Here are the lyrics to El Paso City

From thirty thousand feet above the desert floor I see it there below

A city with a legend, the West Texas city of El Paso

Where long ago I heard a song about a Texas cowboy and a girl

And a little place called Rosa's where he used to go and watch this beauty whirl

I don't recall who sang the song but I recall a story that I heard

And as I look down on this city I remember each and every word

The singer sang about a jealous cowboy and the way he used a gun

To kill another cowboy, then he had to leave El Paso on the run

El Paso City

By the Rio Grande

The cowboy lived and rode away but love was strong he couldn't stay

He rode back just to die in that El Paso sand

El Paso City

By the Rio Grande

I try not to let you cross my mind but still I find

There's such a mystery in the song that I don't understand

My mind is down there somewhere as I fly above the badlands of New Mexico

I can't explain why I should know the very trail he rode back to El Paso

Can it be that man can disappear from life and live another time

And does the mystery deepen 'cause you think that you yourself lived in that other time

Somewhere in my deepest thoughts familiar scenes and memories unfold

These wild and unexplained emotions that I've had so long, but I have never told

Like everytime I fly up through the heavens and I see you there below

I get the feeling sometime in another world I lived in El Paso

El Paso City

By the Rio Grande

Could it be that I could be the cowboy in the mystery

That died there in that desert sand so long ago

El Paso City

By the Rio Grande

A voice tells me to go and seek, another voice keeps telling me

Maybe death awaits me in El Paso

This song,

, a British folksong about the harvest of the barley, which is cut down annually and ‘reborn’ as ale.
I'll wager a hat full of guineas

Against all the songs you can sing,

That some day you'll love,

And the next day you'll lose,

And winter will turn into spring.

And the snow falls, the wind calls,

The year turns round again.

And like Barleycorn who rose from the grave,

A new year will rise up again.

And there will come a time of great plenty,

A time of good harvest and sun.

Till then put your trust in tomorrow, my friend,

For yesterday's over and done.

Ploughed, sown, reaped, and mown:

The year turns round again.

And like Barleycorn who rose from the grave

A new year will rise up again.

Phoebe arise, a gleam in her eyes,

And the year turns round again.

And like Barleycorn who rose from the grave,

A new year will rise up again.

In Your Eyes Another Life

I always knew it'd be

Always knew I see you again

And here now right in front of me

Just like destiny my old friend

Time carried me

I searched the sky

I searched the sea

In your eyes another life

In your eyes another time

Heard you cry from the other side

The end came promised jealousy

Took you away from me in the end

Life then, a rusting memory

I vowed I would see you again

In your eyes another life

In your love another time

Heard you cry from the other side

In your eyes another life

Sacred in you

Sacred in me

This love we share eternally

This song I just came across in music collection

While written by Kip Winger of Winger fame.

Good god, this really hit me hard what I going through

Almost every word in this in what happened

to in my past life to this life.OMG

Going Home by Mary Fahl

This song always pointed to reincarnation for me.

MARY FAHL

Going Home

They say there's a place

where dreams have all gone

They never said where

but I think I know

It's miles through the night

just over the dawn

on the road that will take me home

I know in my bones

I've been here before

The ground feels the same

though the land's been torn

I've a long way to go

The stars tell me so

on this road that will take me home

Love waits for me 'round the bend

Leads me endlessly on

Surely sorrows shall find their end

and all our troubles will be gone

And I'll know what I've lost

and all that I've won

when the road finally takes me home

And when I pass by

don't lead me astray

Don't try to stop me

Don't stand in my way

I'm bound for the hills

where cool waters flow

on this road that will take me home

Thanks ZeonChar,

Yes, that is beautiful... I relate in many ways to these lyrics.

Songs about reincarnation

One of my personal favorites, "A Thousand Years," by Sting.

A thousand years

A thousand years, a thousand more,

A thousand times a million doors to eternity

I may have lived a thousand lives, a thousand times

An endless turning stairway climbs

To a tower of souls

If it takes another thousand years, a thousand wars,

The towers rise to numberless floors in space

I could shed another million tears, a million breaths,

A million names but only one truth to face

A million roads, a million fears

A million suns, ten million years of uncertainty

I could speak a million lies, a million songs,

A million rights, a million wrongs in this balance of time

But if there was a single truth, a single light

A single thought, a singular touch of grace

Then following this single point , this single flame,

The single haunted memory of your face

I still love you

I still want you

A thousand times the mysteries unfold themselves

Like galaxies in my head

I may be numberless, I may be innocent

I may know many things, I may be ignorant

Or I could ride with kings and conquer many lands

Or win this world at cards and let it slip my hands

I could be cannon food, destroyed a thousand times

Reborn as fortunes child to judge anothers crimes

Or wear this pilgrims cloak, or be a common thief

Ive kept this single faith, I have but one belief

I still love you

I still want you

A thousand times the mysteries unfold themselves

Like galaxies in my head

On and on the mysteries unwind themselves

Eternities still unsaid

til you love me
