Sons Comments on Past Life

I have been raised catholic and went to catholic school as a child but I have always believed in souls going to heaven but not necessarily reincarnation until my son told me this out of the blue one day. My son who was 4 at the time was sitting next to me watching cartoons and he just said without any prompting or anything on tv to put this thought in his head that in the year 361 all of his brothers and sisters died. I asked him when this happened and he said it was before he was in my tummy. I asked him if he remembered what kind of clothes he was wearing. He said in his words just this thing covering his privates which I took to be a loincloth? I was totally shocked that he made this comment out of the blue with nothing on tv or in a book to help him make it up as a story. Does anyone have any thoughts on this time period and what he could be describing.

Welcome to the forum! How old is your son now? Does he still talk about "other times"?

The first thing I thought of was perhaps Roman times. Maybe you could look up some of the period clothing online and show him photos -- see if anything resonates with him.

My son is 5 now but I have always had the feeling just from some of the stuff he says and does that he may have seen things that the adults have not seen. Around the time my aunt and uncle died he was only about 2 learning to talk and he would look up smiling away and have conversations with someone it would cause the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. Does anyone think some people and children are just more able to see and remember things?

I think that most children are aware of things that grown-ups are not.

I also think that most children remember past lives -- and express that in some form, through play, but most parents do not realize what it is the children are actually saying/doing.

My son told me out of the blue one day when he was 5 that he didn't belong in our family, that he had this whole other family that he went on to describe in great detail. When he got to the part about his other mother dying in a car accident and started crying about not being able to say goodbye to her, I knew he was talking about another lifetime. The funny thing was that up until that moment, I never really considered believing in reincarnation.
My son also used to talk and giggle with people I couldn't see. I think when they are young like this, there is no one to tell them that they are not there, that these lives didn't happen. Soon enough, they will forget on their own and that seems to be a part of it all, so that they can move on and be a part of this life and not grieve for their past lives.

My best friend has always felt a strong connection to her deceased parents, especially her father, and has mentioned feeling his presence fairly often. Her granddaughter, who is now 4, has apparently seen her grandfather a number of times, while being watched by my friend. The granddaughter seemed to know the person she was seeing, and my friend did sense her fathers presence at the same time. I'll have to discuss this more with my friend.
