Spirit Guides

I want to share my experience I have had with my spirit guide and I am hoping others will share their experiences as well.

Since I started meditating and having experiences with past life memories in my very early 20's, I also met my spirit guide for the first time while in a meditative state. His name is Robert and he has brown hair and I kind face and has the appearance of being in his 30's. During many regressions and meditative states I've always asked him to help guide me and be with me for tough memories. When he speaks to me it is as if the words suddenly appear in my mind out loud; they are different than my own internal monologue and thoughts I have.

Last week I lay down and instead of going to sleep I started the process of relaxing and putting myself in a meditative state. I'm not sure why, but I may have been feeling lonely and I asked for his help. I asked for him to come to me and to really show himself in a way that would let me know that he was there for me. Shortly after this I had a very powerful vision of him appearing to me bathed in white light and I felt an immense all-encompassing feeling of love and radiance just pouring from him. It was so startling and so powerful that it struck my heart completely and I broke down into tears of joy. This feeling coming from him of just pure unconditional love, light, and peace was so unlike anything I feel on a regular basis that I know it to be the light of the creator which meets us on the other side once we pass from this earthly plane. I am not a religious person at all, but I consider myself to be spiritual and to experience such a thing would make anyone a believer in a divine higher power.

My question to others is what have your experiences been with your spirit guides? Has anyone met them? What is their function? How do they choose us or how do we choose them? I am really wondering what my relationship with Robert was before he became my spirit guide in this life because at this point I know absolutely nothing about him.

This from what I have learned not experienced. Our guides are chosen for us.Each guide is chosen on how they can help us through are incarnations.I have never actually seen what my guides look like but I feel them in my thoughts every now and then.A thought will come into my mind that I know is not mine.Or I get a feeling not to do something.I felt like they have been more active in my life recently.

I had many experiences growing up with 'spirits.' As a child, I was never sure what to came them. I later came to call them 'the invisible ones' because this would strike a 'nerve' in my family and they would 'drop the subject.' It was my family who pressed me to come up with 'human' words for them. Even when writing and sharing the memories now - I am still not sure what 'wordage' to use to define their presence in my life. (Messengers, guides, spirits, angels....etc, etc, etc.) They were invisible and 'non-human.'

I have one who shows up in my memories at a very early age. (Around 2 to 3 years of age.) I had a 'human conversation' with this particular 'spirit' at the age of 8 and was trying to get a handle on who this one was to me and what to call our 'relationship.' (As opposed to my NDE conversations with this one - outside my body.) When it came to a 'name' - it was always a game. It didn't have a human name - and the 'tone' or 'vibe' that hit me in my heart was attached to the 'unspeakable' and 'unpronounceable' name of creation. I shared on another thread how I wanted a 'spirit' who had been human and that is when I was introduced to a 'human' who was having 'out of body' experiences and acting as a guide. I could call this 'spirit' by a human name and identify with it.

Years later, (at the age of 17) a friend passed away and his spirit came calling. Once again, it was the 'riddled' answers when it came to my questions of the 'identity' of the spirit as opposed to the identity of his 'former human' self. I could not reference or call this 'spirit' by it's former human name. There was the 'eternal nature' and the 'external nature. (Physical.) I was once told, "Human beings carry human names. I walk with the eternal name given from creation." I had several other friends pass away - and most of them repeated the same sentiment about calling them by their 'former human' names.

I have come to believe (from my memories) that 'spirit guides' come in all forms, shapes and sizes (human and non-human.) I believe a stranger you encounter for five minutes at a check out line - could be 'acting as a divine guide' and say the exact words your heart needs to hear for the sake of you own personal spiritual progression and growth. (I believe some musicians are 'spirit guides' who sing in a way to point large groups of hearts and souls on a spiritual path.)

I had one friend who passed away who came to me 'in human shape' as opposed to the 'divine shape.' He identified with his human name and identified his self as 'male.' This was odd and unusual for me. There was a level of 'spiritual identity' on the other side of the veil. The 'higher ones' always refused to be identified as either 'male' or 'female' and gave me a riddle about the nature of the 'eternal soul' being in the image of creation where there was no 'division.' When I asked him about this - he stated he had not 'fully evolved' yet. He also said this was by 'design' and was following his own path to be in 'human form' while in spirit for the sake of the guidance he was there to offer to me.

Your story reminds me of the last time I saw his spirit prior to him being reincarnated again into another human body. His inner and true 'divine nature' hadn't shown through prior to our last meeting. When it did - it took my breath away.

One of the last things he said to me - was an expression of gratitude for being his 'guide' to help him through the 'dark transition' that led to his evolving back fully into the 'light' again. If his spirit hadn't of said that to me - I never would have thought of myself as 'acting' as a spirit guide to him. I would have thought of it as the opposite.

Have you thought of the possibility that your spirit may have been as much a guide to Robert as well?

Sincerely,

DKing

That's a wonderful experience, ZeonChar. It can only compare to the first time I saw the one I came to think was my spirit guide, in one of my first meditations when I asked for past lives... I also felt that love and light and it brought me to tears, as it was like an encounter with a long lost loved one... He's been with me through several lifetimes, and I've always been reluctant to call him "spirit guide", but reading stories about them I was always surprised to find the similarities with my feelings for him and the ways I had felt his presence throughout my life.

Once in a meditation he said I had been doing the same for him, but I don't believe that yet, and I won't do it unless I remember something that points to that fact...

He's my main spirit guide, but I know there are others too. Once they showed themselves in my mind when I asked for them. One of them was totally unexpected, it was a wild indian-looking woman, she said she strengthens my fighter and rebel side when I need it. With the other one I shared at least a past life too (though he was not precisely a good friend in that one), and he influences my writing a lot. Usually they are hidden and quite silent anyway (or maybe I'm just deaf and I can't hear them), I think I'm not ready for this kind of spiritual experiences... or maybe my own skepticism prevents me from having them.

Hi Zeon,

this really is a thread after my own heart and a lovely experience for you.

I've always believed in Angels and have followed them before I got into reincarnation.

They are with us constantly and I have got an ocassional feeling of the unconditional love you felt-it really is a perfect feeling.

You are really lucky to be able to see your angel/spirit guide. They live on different vibrations to us & it's a case of us rising ourselves to theirs a little to get that glimpse.

I've only once seen mine, years ago on wakening. I saw my husbands one morning also. Both times lasted about a second but was such a good feeling.

I do find the more I meditate and talk to them I feel their presence and guidance and now get regular angel dreams or night visits.

This is a lovely experience for you and you must be becoming more aware of them;)

Such a beautiful experience, Zeonchar!

I believe we have several spirit guides, some stay with us all our life, others for a while.

Many years ago, when I first consciously felt the presence of a spirit guide, and asked for identification, I was told that we shared a PL in Egypt, where I was his little (adopted) sister.

I felt his presence often, and it was very comforting. Big brother being there for me when I needed him.

Several years later, I visited America, and while on a trip there, driving on a highway (me as a passenger), I suddenly felt and spiritually saw an Indian, in his late twenties I guess, on horseback, riding along with me, while I was enjoying the landscape. I called him 'the spirit of the Land' because it felt like he was showing me the beautiful country where he (once) lived.

About two years later, I got a message from my spirit guide, that someone else was taking over, that he would still be available for me when I really needed him, but that I was in a phase in my life where another spirit guide was better fitted to lead me. I was then shown the image of an elderly native american couple, who would be my new spirit guides. I had the feeling the man was the same as my 'spirit of the Land', but much older (maybe I got this image because older=wiser?).

Anyways, my relation to them is not so intense as with the former spirit guide, but I feel they work more on the intuitive level. How can I explain? Instead of being a comfort when I need it, they give me intuitive guidance, so that I don't end up so much in situations that need comfort (if I care to listen to my intuition/their advice).

I have been introduced/made aware of four spirit guides, over the last fifteen years or so. Naturus, Asha, Cloud and a giant, who sort of made an abrupt, non-sequitir appearance, recently while I was watching TV. He was friendly, sort of made a friendly gesture. I questioned his appearance (as I had no frame of reference for a giant making appearance in my mind, lol) he did mention that Naturus was part of their group? In another thread, BriarRose mentioned that Naturus sounded like an elemental. I had never considered that before, so maybe the giant was telling me how Naturus fit in. My giant spirit guide, appeared to me like a cartoon-like friendly oafish giant, no disrespect intended. I don't really have specifics on his guidance, yet, but happy to have him as a guide.

During my regression I met my spirit guide, I found it intriguing that they're both male and female, and depending on what form they're taking go by either Jamie or Jennifer. :) This really resonates with me as I've always felts as if I myself am 'bi-gendered'. I go by both Charlotte and Joshua, depending on the people I'm talking to and the gender I'm feeling that day~

DKing, I have never considered the fact that I may have been a guide to him too at one point. Thank you for sharing your story with me and that information.

Eowyn, what you said about you being a guide for your spirit guide also echoes what DKing is saying. It's wonderful to hear that you have had a very similar experience also!

I know that I have other guides as well. In many dreams I see a woman with me who I do not know in this life who is accompanying me in past life memories. She is usually in the background of the memory as the focus is not on her and I can never make out her face very well. But I am usually next to her while experiencing the past life memory.

One time her and a whole group of spirit guides showed themselves to me while I was experience a past life memory. They stepped into the memory and stopped me and told me they had an important message to deliver to me. Instantly I was taken out of the memory and became aware of who I am now in this life rather than being in the consciousness of my past life self. She put her arms around me and hugged me and in that moment I submitted to her knowledge. Behind her a group of about 6 people, men and women, watched us. She handed me a graphic novel and everyone in the group had it and was on the same page. I turned to the page and saw myself in a past life and saw the mistakes I was repeating over and over again in every life. With that realization, I woke up.
