Trauma is part of Karma for the mother, not the child

"Shirley: I’d like to ask for any information about the Karma or whatever about the three-year-old boy who shot himself and was brought into the hospital by his grandparents. Why did this happen? Was it a suicide from a past life?
You are right. This was a suicide from twelve years ago.
Shirley: Why such trauma as this?
The trauma is part of Karma for the mother, not the child."

I believe this applies to all cases:
Same event is experienced by every participant and observer as a different event, for their own souls' reasons, never random, always to be interpreted by everyone in their own ways: child, parents, grandparents, readers of the news, ...

This suggests that healing and learning should extend beyond the child.
