Victorian Child

Hello, I am new here and have very much enjoyed reading the information that many people have contributed here.

I thought I would share a couple of unusual experiences that have led me to believe that past lives are very much apart of some peoples life journey.

When my daughter was born, I had little advice or assistance with bringing her up. My parents had passed away a couple of years earlier and so parenting was a completely new experience for me and my husband.. We didn't know any other young parents so I read many books as a guide.

When my daughter was about 18 months old, she started to draw. She had been scribbling things since she could walk but it wasn't until this age, that her scribbling took on defined shapes.. she could draw animals and people. I wasn't aware that this was considered an early age for drawing.. until my landlords (a middle-aged couple) came over one day to do a house inspection and when they saw her drawing, the wife of couple remarked that for such a young child (a baby in nappies still) to be drawing, was very extraordinary. Both my husband and I have artists in our families and we generally concluded that this was an inherited talent.

When my daughter about two years of age, I dragged out my sewing machine, which had been put away since before she was born. This was a day where I considered that she might have memories of a past life..

After setting up the machine on the kitchen table, I settled her down to watch some children shows on TV. She was a very well behaved toddler in the sense, that she never touched buttons or messed up the house with things she generally wasn't meant to be getting into. So it was surprise that soon after I started sewing, I found her climbing up on top of the table staring with complete awe at the sewing machine. She got in very close and stared at the needle. Meanwhile, I in surprise, was telling her to get down, and explaining it was dangerous. She wouldn't go away and actually pushed me away to get back up. She settled a bit and examined the whole process, watching me push with my foot the peddle to make it move and finally she asked me what I was doing.

I answered that I was sewing and became quite amused at the look of awe on her face. I told her she could watch but she had to sit down. After watching for a couple of more minutes she said with a very serious expression with her limited communication. "I used to do sewing.. a long time ago." and then she said. "I only had a needle and it would take a very long time." She seemed to loose interest after that, but later that day, I caught her attempting to use the machine herself. I've never forgot the very adult flash of annoyance and frustration on her face when I told her stop playing with my sewing machine.

When she was about 3 and half years of age, she started going to kindergarten one day a week. (I was actually told off by a staff member after the first day for not telling them about her talent for drawing) Anyway, she had been only going for a month or so when one of the teachers showed me a particular picture she had drawn. The children had been asked to create a picture of themselves and she had drawn a picture of a woman in Victorian clothing, complete.. with bustle, bonnet, parasol and lace up heeled boots. The woman was standing on a cobbled road and she had even drawn a tall gaslight lamp in the street. She had told her kindy teacher, that it was a picture of what she used to look like, when people wore nice clothes. (lol) I tried to think of how she would of even seen Victorian pictures or if she had seen any television with Victorian themed movies etc. But I have to say I genuinely don't think she was outside influenced in any way at all.

When she was about 10 years of age. I went with a friend to a theatre auction.. and came home with a Victorian Dress costume. (I had forgotten about her picture since it was some years earlier) I only put it on briefly to show my family and then put it away. However, some months later we were going out somewhere to dinner and she suggested that I should wear my beautiful dress.. and when I asked for clarification, she pointed out the Costume dress. For the next few years she was always trying to get me to wear it. It vanished when she was about 14 and I found it in her closet of course, she has since worn it herself several times now. :)

My next experience is quite brief and might not mean anything much, but involves myself and was an event from just a couple of years ago.

My family and I moved to a completely new location and nearby was a train museum. We went one weekend and strolled around looking at many antique carriages. One of the features was a steam train ride, which did a quick 15 minute trip every half hour or so. We arrived shortly before the steam train was due to leave and watched it leave from the platform. As the horn blew and the steam filled the platform and the noise of the wheels turning... I don't know exactly what triggered it, but I found myself crying.. not just a tear or two rolling down my cheeks, I was almost hysterical, I couldn't breath and I felt desolated. I was happy one moment and completely distraught the next. My family (who rarely see me upset at all) were in a panic worried about me.. thinking I was ill. I couldn't talk. I had to sit down and after a while explained that I didn't know why I was crying.. it just happened as the train left. We looked around some more and the sensation of extreme sorrow left me. Some time later we were at the main platform again as the steam train was there.. suddenly the horn blew and the steam filled the platform and again... all of a sudden, I was crying, I felt gutted.. the only other urge I had was as the train left - I felt like running after it and trying to stop it.

I've often wondered since if the event, if something about the train triggered a past life memory that I can't quite lock onto.

Thanks for listening and sharing.

Hi Shadowpup, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for sharing yours and your daughters' experiences, how interesting, they have all the signs of a past life memory, the old steam train triggering a sudden change of emotion, and very intense emotion by the sound of it. Maybe you and your daughter were together in some form back in those days?

I wonder if your daughter still remembers her experience with the sewing machine and the dress, does she ever talk about it now that she's older? Most children start to forget about their past lives once they reach the age of around 7, and events from their present life take over and replace any past life memories.

How do you feel about your own experience at the train museum? Do you feel a need to pursue your past lives and find out who you were? Or are you happy to just let it rest? There are many methods you can use to try and recall memories, meditation, regression or self-regression are just a few of them, and we're always here to help answer any questions you might want to ask.

I hope you enjoy your time here

Chris :)

Hello Shadowpup.

Interesting about your daughter..

Having such a dramatic emotional response as you did, can feel overpowering. Have you felt in any way different since your experience?? Were you more depressed , or more fearful?

To me the train sounds like a past life trigger for you.. Memories usually come in degrees. We can help move the process along through regression. Your feelings around the train may come up or something else could.

You can do self regression or find someone who is a therapist if you are more comfortable with that.. Good luck. and keep us posted.

Welcome Shadowpup! These definitely sound like memories and triggers for both you and your daughter. I agree with what others said and the questions they've asked. I'm just running through here briefly today but I will touch back later. :)

My guess is that you did indeed recall a past life memory that was a life changing event. It sounds as if it were a sad separation - but perhaps it ended well.

Thanks for the Welcome :)

Just to answer a few questions.

My daughter is now nearly 18. She doesn't remember the incident with the sewing machine or drawing the picture. I told her about it yesterday and said that I had thought she might of had a past life in the Victorian era. She said that if she did, she doesn't remember it now. There were many little things that she said when she was young that indicated memories of previous life experience. I can't remember them either. :( At the time I had concerns (only in a general sense though) about pressing her for information. I was a little worried that I might stir up things psychologically for her. I guess I didn't really know what to do. But I definitely didn't rubbish anything she ever said.

You know. I didn't connect the old steam train incident as being especially Victorian. Oddly, my daughter wasn't there with us that day.. so I am now tempted to take her there to see if she is triggered by the environment in anyway as well.

I have had a past life regression experience. Which was about 9 years ago now. I went with a group of 4 other friends to a friends house who had arranged a past life therapist to come and regress us all.. :o

It was interesting. It had a very successful results on one member of our group. My regression was kinda boring. Plus, I had much trouble staying in the meditation state, as I found having to answer the therapists questions distracting, so I would find myself coming out of the meditative state each time I had to make a comment.

Also, In the past life that was revealed to me. I was deaf and dumb. My whole life consisted of relying on the goodness of other people who cared for me.. and that was done not so much out of love, but out of pity. It was possibly medieval in era. I didn't achieve anything in that lifetime. The most enjoyable part of it was passing from that world, where I was met by very beautiful and kind divine beings.
