waking up screaming in car

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and I'm so fascinated by what I've been reading! For years now I've been interested in finding out more about reincarnation and believe in it wholeheartedly.
The reason I came to this site in the first place was because of something my daughter told me today.......my grandson, who is 3, screams for sometimes 15 mins after he wakes up when he's been asleep in the car. I've heard him, and it's as if he's absolutely terrified, and it takes all my daughter's patience to calm him down each time. She's tried all sorts of things, such as making sure she is still in the car when he wakes up so he doesnt feel abandoned, or waking him up before the car stops, or just letting him wake up naturally, or trying to keep him awake in the first place, but nothing seems to be working.
I suggested that there may be a past life link here, and I think she may have hit the nail on the head when she said perhaps in his last life he may have been killed in a car crash, falling asleep at the wheel perhaps, and waking up at the last moment, too late to save himself, and maybe waking in the car is triggering that memory.
I'd really appreciate some feedback if you could...it's a problem that's driving my poor daughter crazy and I'd love to be able to help her.
Thanks...

Hi Anne

Welcome to the forum,

My niece had a similar problem from the day she was brought home from the hospital. She's now 10 years old and seems to have gotten over her fears. The only difference I see between her and your grandson is she wouldn't fall asleep in the car -she would just scream the whole time she was in the car.

My niece in her past life lived in Russia, and was badly disfigured in a car fire - living the rest of her life in seclusion. She was a very prominent ballerina in her past life and quiet beautiful before the accident. My niece didn't like people to look at her until she was about 6 years old. Very strange behavior indeed.

Does your grandson ever say anything about why he is screaming? Any words?

Hi Deborah,

Thanks for your reply, how awful for your niece to have had such a horrific past life memory...is she pretty well over it now or does it still affect her at times?

No, as far as I know, my grandson hasn't said anything because he's usually too upset...if my daughter asks him if he saw something he usually says yes, but then she's never sure if he really means it or if he's just answering yes because it's his usual answer to any question!

Anyway, when my daughter comes over later, I'll show her this forum....hopefully it will give her some ideas as to how to handle her son's problem.

Thank you again,
Anne.:)

*S*S

Hi Anne,

My niece is still rather clingy to her Mom, but for the most part -she is just fine. I do hope your daughter takes the time to read some of the posts in this forum. There are many parents -- and hundreds of posts in this section alone - from all over the world, looking for answers -and support. Just let her know -we're here for her, and you.

Do keep us posted.

Dear Deborah,

My daughter was here all day yesterday and I could hardly tear her away from the screen...grandma had to mind the kids!

She was fascinated, and said to say thank you to you for your help, and looking forward to reading more whenever she's here.
I think that she will try to find a regression expert now....by the way, she did tell me that my grandson, JJ as we call him, has ocassionally mentioned "car crash" but never said any more than that, so perhaps we're on the right track.

Love,

Deborah,

Just thought I would let you know that my daughter and I are going to see someone with my grandson on Thursday, who believes she can help him...we're keeping our fingers crossed..will keep you posted..

love,
:)

Deborah,

I thought I should say too, that my daughter and I are not taking Jayson to a regressionist but to a woman who has had experience in helping children to talk about their fears.

She does this by asking the parents or whoever is there with the child to bring along a couple of favourite storybooks that are read to him regularly, such as at bedtime. Then, she goes through the books with him and gets him to point out favourite pages and gently asks him why he likes them, and starts a conversation about these.

(One of the things that she suggested when I spoke to her was to maybe make him a dreamcatcher for his room, which reminded me of something that I had virtually forgotten...that when he was little, he used to be in my car a lot, and never once cried when he woke up....I wonder now whether it was because, one day, on impulse, I decided to make a couple of tiny dreamcatchers and hang them over the windows on both sides of the back of the car. Jayson used to love them, and eventually I had to take them down because he played with them so much they fell apart!)

After talking with him about his storybooks, she lets him pick out a few of the "Inner Child" cards and then talks with him about them, gradually getting a sense of what's been bothering him, and hopefully a way to help him will emerge.

The way that I found this woman was quite astonishing too..which makes me think! Firstly, I was telling my best friend about the situation with Jayson, and she suggested going to a Native American who runs a shop in a town near here which is noted for its alternative therapists, New Age thinking etc. etc.
For people like myself this town has a definite attraction, because of its atmosphere..I find myself drawn back there time and time again, and its usually when I have a question or a specific purpose in mind...sometimes I have no idea what that is until I get there and come across the person/shop/therapy that I need!

So, I decided to go after work the next day...but, ( I work at a doctor's surgery doing stress testing) my first patient that morning came from this town, and I found myself telling her all about it! She suggested that if I couldnt get to see this Native American, then to go to a certain shop nearby and I would find a person who would definitely be able to help.......and so it proved!

If that's not being led to where I needed to go, I don't know what is!

So, as I said before Deborah, I'll keep you posted!
Anne:)

Hi Anne

I have been away - across country for the past week. Just got home yesterday.

Your story is fascinating!!!!!!! What a wonderful example of syncronicities. :D I do hope you keep us posted. I am very interested in the outcome - or the results of such a therapy.

Hi Deborah and Amanda,
Thanks for your reply....I havent been on here much in the last few days either.
My daughter and I took my grandson to see this woman I was telling you about, and it was a very entertaining and productive afternoon for us all!
My grandson took three books with him that he likes to read, and she just said immediately that she could see what was bothering him! The books were "Mr. Clumsy", "Mrs. Mopps Mixed Up Farm" and another book (I forget which) but it had the same theme: confusion! Obvious when you know what to look for.

He was very interested and involved in the discussion that took place, but lost interest after a while and began to explore the shop...the crystals and the fishpond in the middle with a bridge over it were what really held him enthralled, and the woman's husband kept him occupied for us..and he kept coming back to check on us before going back and playing with the toys that they had there on sale.

The outcome of the reading (I prefer to call it discussion) was that he was very confused and disorientated because of their recent move and the arrival of his little brother. Although he adores little Jack, he still felt pushed aside and didnt know how to cope with it, hence his erratic behaviour. Waking up screaming was because of nightmares he was having of being confined and closed in, and that is probably where the past life memories were coming in....no real light was shed on what they were but she did give us ways in which to deal with the problem..one of them being to hang a dreamcatcher in his room and one in the car, and to explain to him what they meant and what they were for.

So last Sunday I made him a special dreamcatcher with lots of his favourite bright colours in the feathers and the beads, and when he saw it, we went into a big discussion as to where exactly to put it! He had his own ideas and they were exactly right for him!
It now hangs above his bed, and there is also an amethyst crystal under his mattress to help clear the confusion he is feeling.

The woman also said that he is what is known as an Indigo child, born into this world for a reason, something to do with the Violet Ray vibration. She suggested we find a Rudolf Steiner school and kindergarten for him to go to, as he needs to express his creativity and his differentness in a way that the mainstream education system may not understand, or be able to cope with.

So they now have lots to consider, my daughter and her partner
but they have taken a major step in the right direction and enrolled him in daycare for a day a week. He went today for the first time and absolutely revelled in the freedom and the creativity that they encouraged in him. I'm so proud of him!

So that's the latest Deborah..oh, and he hasnt woken up once during the night crying since the dreamcatcher went up, nor has he fallen asleep in the car since either, so we don't know how or whether that has changed yet.

bye for now, will keep u posted!
Love,
Anne

:D
