Was she remembering past life or not?

Hi All,

I have recently had an interesting experence and need feedback. I have been working this Summer at a Head Start program, filling in for staff who need to be absent. Last week I worked in one of the preschool rooms for the first time. (Most of my time has been spent with the kids under three.) Immediately after i walked in the door on the first day one of the little girls in this room was my constant shadow and was overly interested in being with me as much as possible. Now this in itself didn't raise any flags with me, as generally kids really like me and seem to form a close attachment to me quickly, though
this girl formed one exceptionally fast, by any standard.

What happened yesterday though was both unprecedented and a little weird. This same little girl, who is barely 5 years old btw,
ran up to me hugged me and repeated over and over: "You're my daddy, you're my daddy."
She kept repeating it despite my denials. It was both an uncomfortable situation and strangely appealing.

Now, I must ask for everyone's opinion on this. My common sense/profesional mind tells me that this is just the wishful thinking of a little girl who does not have the best of home lives and has become emotionally attached to a kind, careing indivedual in her life. But, my belief in reincarnation suggests that she may have some inkling of a past life connection between us and was expressing this with her words.

I can't stop thinking about this, what do you think?

It is entirely possible that she was speaking literally. However it is also possible that you just remind her in some way of her current father....if you get the chance, spend some time with her and see what comes up.

There is no such thing as too many books. Too few bookcases can become a problem, however.

Welcome to the forum!!

Yes, I agree.....spend some more time with her and see what comes up! Don't lead the conversation though. This may cause her to balk at it.

If it is a PL memory, it will surface again! When it does, encourage the conversation as if she were talking about a favorite pet or other mundane matter. Don't tell her she's wrong, but instead as open ended questions like; "How do you know I am your Daddy?" etc.

And please, keep us posted!!

Your story reminds me of a similar situation where I had attended a huge family reunion party this year. My parents, my brother and my husband and kids attended and as soon as we walked in, a little girl (18 months old) ran over to my Dad and said "Daddy, daddy". I later found out that her daddy (who was not at the gathering) is my Dad's first cousin. Now, her daddy has black hair and a nice bronze color. My father happens to have blue eyes and is very fair. We all laughed about how this little girl thought that my Dad was her Daddy when they look nothing alike! It was the joke of the day. We had actually never seen this little girl since we had not been with family in about 2 years - before she was born. The funny thing is that she sat on my Dad's lap the entire time and would not even go to her mom. She was also in tears when we were ready to leave. My 2 year old son was being a bit jealous over his Grandpa. Makes me think!

Thanks for responding, I appereciate hearing what people think. I will try to spend more time with this little girl and talk to her about this if possible. If anything develops I most certainly will post it on the board. Unfortunately, time is literally running out. In less than two weks she will be starting Kindergarten and I may never see her again. So perhaps another apparently spontaneous event, like the one that peaked my curiousity, will be the best chance I have to reconnect. I'll keep an eye out.
