what came first, the soul or the body?

Hello everyone,

I got to thinking today. I've heard some people say that a body can not exist without a soul. Others say that in order for a soul to exist it must first have a body to be created.

I guess what I'm asking is another question about the chicken and the egg, but in this case it's soul and the body.

Also I would like to know if it is possible for a body to exist without a soul(personally I beleive a body needs a soul, including animals).

Any comments and such would be much appreciated.

Hello,

I guess you have to first ask..what is soul???? To me a soul must have consciousness. Creation manifests through consciousness. For me, the body is a creation of that consciousness...soul is connected to the ONE, ALL, the Alpha & the Omega and "it" definately came first. However evolving to remember the source.

It is my opinion that souls are eternal and exist with or without a body.

For instance, when a body is conceived, a soul can either inhabit that body prenatally or go in & out of it at will. Most things I read and experience indicate to me that nearly all souls are incarnated before or during labor and birth.

In a great book by Edith McGarey (???) that I have at home and not in front of me, she did a study with some 900 people who remembered through regressions their pre-birth experiences. There was a wide variety of stories - some remembered inhabiting the body from conception, some from around the 2nd trimester, some at birth. Most remembered going in & out at will until late in pregnancy, and then residing permanently after birth.

Of course, I don't think we are *always* in our bodies as souls - we have out-of-body experiences during sleep, prayer, meditation, daydreaming and sometimes in times of stress.

About the will; every spirits has a free will, and this free will is a gift to all of us (incarnated as well as discarnated ) from our Heavenly Father: God. This free will will never be taken away from us.
About that animals should have souls; no they do not have souls at all. Have never had and will never get!
About the Gender: A male-spirit can and will only be incarnated in a male human body, likewise that a female-spirits only can incarnate in a female human body. So we can´t choose our Gender as see fit.

I am in agreement with the writer of the above.Each soul is a 'spark' from the Godhead.Each individual soul existed before it chose to incarnate on this plane and will continue to exist for all eternity.When a sufficient state of spiritual growth is attained the soul will return to the Godhead which it came from but even then I believe we will not lose our individual sense of identity.

"Beliefs" are based on experience. Please make statements that refer to your experience and do not present them as facts.

Just because someone 'experiences' reality in a certain way..doesn't make it a fact. In your experience..you may only be aware of male life times. That doesn't mean that everyone experiences your "reality" and it far from makes it a truth.

Spirituality is about personal, individual, intense, and often secret experiences of the presence of G-d. Don't we need to explore all the possibilities? This forum was created for people to share their experiences.

I would like to present you with a challenge --- research consciousness... search through new scientific findings regarding physics.

For example - according to physicists the entire universe exists only as energy, as a mathematical wave of probability, until a conscious being observes it. In that moment of observation -- instantaneously and faster than the speed of light -- the wave of energy being observed snaps into physical reality and is measurable.

My question then would be -- By what do you measure..what you think you 'know'?

To me beliefs is based on experience - in the beginning - later beliefs turns to be knowledge; and knowledge turns to be fact - for me anyway.

About the choice of genda; I have this to say: God´s Helpers and the Youngest(the gardian Angels), who direct the incarnations of human beings, always make certain that male spirit is bound to a male body, and a female spirit to a female body. The reverse has never occured, neither in respect of human spirits nor the Youngest.

If beliefs are based on experience and then knowledge, then a lot of people in here remember being both genders - time and time again...so I guess we all have "different" experiences and knowledge [
 
Souls exist always. Some are incarnated and some aren't. They do not die or live - they just ARE. Living and dying are physical things that bodies do.

A fetus can be alive without a soul inhabiting it permanently, but when it's born, the soul is fused to the body until death.

When you hear about "out of body experiences" or the soul going traveling while sleeping, it is always attached to it's body and in contact with it. So, while the soul may not be *inhabiting* the body just then, it's still a part of it.

My take.
