I found a quote by Edgar Cayce which sums up my own experience through the years with reincarnation memories as well as my experiences with 'reincarnated' soul mates.
The reason we don't remember the lives we lived before is both simple and complex. The simple answer is, "Because we have not lived before." This is because our current conscious mind, personality, and body are new; they have not been alive before. Nor have they reincarnated in the true sense of the word. After my own NDE experience at the age of 18, I was dealing with 'lost memories' and had to work with psychologist. I had to do a crash course on human psychology. Memory loss through the course of our daily human live is a very normal process. Everything is stored in the 'unconscious mind.' We (as human beings) can NOT function with acute memories of every single moment of our current lives. Some of it has to be suppressed to deal on a day to day function and absorb new data and experiences.
I was constantly trying to recall my childhood memories which was lost to me at 18. I stumbled upon a 'reservoir' of 'past life' memories of the soul hidden in the 'unconscious mind.' I wasn't interested in finding the memories of this life and childhood - as much as I wanted to explore that hidden reservoir' belonging to the 'soul memories.' I was being told by 'spirit guides' it was off-limits. I could see it - but I couldn't touch.
This is what led a 'spirit guide' to give me a lesson with a young friend. I was told we all have 'hidden reservoirs' in the 'unconscious minds' that don't belong to us but yet - the foundation of our current lives are built upon them for a purpose and reason. I wanted to know WHY it was so hidden and secret - yet influencing me in a very sublime manner.
I asked the 'young friend' to consent to help him tap into his hidden reservoir just to evaluate his own human conscious reaction. The 'spirit guide' and his 'spirit guide' set up a clause in the experiment where - at a certain point, his own conscious mind of understanding would have a choice to either retain the 'memories' - or throw them back into the 'hidden reservoir' after evaluation of them.
He tapped into it and I got to stand back and watch his stunned reaction. Within an hour - he wanted to forget everything he had been given access to. I was asking him why and part of the many reasons he listed was,
"The memories don't belong to me. They belong to my inner being. It will interfere with who I am on the outside. It will drive me insane to know all this. It is TOO much information for one mind to handle."
I got to watch his own reaction. He was stunned, amazed, happy - and then horrified with it all. He felt there was a right place and time to access for that sort of 'hidden knowledge.' Having it thrust upon him like it had been was very dangerous for the normal mind.
(Remember, there were two spirit guides involved so this was done with proper supervision from the 'spirit' realm with guides in place.)
So I concluded this 'hidden knowledge' was like double edge sword and cut cut both ways. It could (at the right time and place) prove to be very beneficial in spiritual growth. At the same time, if accessed in an improper manner - could led to a great deal of psychological and emotional harm. (
Psychosis.)
After that experiment - I said a prayer and placed my 'soul' in charge of that 'reservoir' and allowed it to be in charge of 'if and when' those hidden files were revealed to me, for the sake of spiritual growth and not idle human curiosity.
Now that I can look back in hindsight at my own childhood, I feel the child's mind of development goes through a stage were it 'comprehends' the deeper mystery and then 'grows' out of the stage of 'direct access.' All sorts of childhood memories fade due to growth of the human mind for the sake of our own current persona's. We all bury childhood memories to focus on the 'reality' around us on the outside. This
(I was told by my Doctors) was a very normal process. Mine was abnormal because I had to bury everything. One of the theories was - I had a very mystical childhood. I was constantly in contact with 'spirits' and I had to bury this to get a 'grip' on human reality.
(Which - in hindsight was very true.)
The memories fade from the 'conscious' view - but they are always present in the 'unconscious' (hidden) mind. Like buried treasure we hid from ourselves to explore and discover again at the right time. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. For myself, the hidden soul within - is the greatest teacher we can discover in our personal spiritual path.
Anyway - some of my thoughts on the subject.
