Why do some forget, why do some remember?

My little grey cells have been ticking again, and I am curious as to others' thoughts on this matter: why is it some children remember, but then forget? Why is it some adults know nothing as a child but remember when they're older? Why do some remember spontaneously? Why do some never know at all?

I often thought this myself. Is it b/c PL rememberance will help some people but with others it will hinder them from finding their purpose?

I have often thought about this, and one of my conclusions is that it may be something as simple as a person who is observant and willing to look outside of the box as to why they have certain dreams, memories, or thought processes.


I don't think it really serves a purpose other than to help a person realize who they are, where they've been and their potential.


Sometimes I think it can be a curse too. I live with constant nightmares, and get little sleep. At the same time on the other hand, I've learned a lot about myself and my possible potential to do both great deeds and great evil.

why is it some children remember, but then forget?

I think that most (if not all) children remember at least some past life memories. How much they talk about them is up to the child and their surroundings. It is commonly said that by the age of 8, most children's memories start to subside. Their lives get busier, they get older and more used to this life, or reincarnation is not spoken of in their household. For example, in my moms home when she was a kid, talking about seeing grandma after she died or seeing a past life in a dream was called 'lying' and nothing more. So she stopped talking about it, and probably remembered less then she could have. In my home, these things were not only talked about, but considered with an open mind. Both me and my brother are still remembering/seeing flashes, nothing stopped at 8.

Why is it some adults know nothing as a child but remember when they're older?

Like the above example with my mom, once she was older she was able to read, learn and open her mind up to reincarnation in a whole new way. I think once that happens, so do the memories. People remember when their ready, and not everyone is ready at the same time.

Why do some remember spontaneously? Why do some never know at all?

I think we all remember somewhat spontaneously, because it happens when it is meant to, and when we are truly ready for it. Some, haven't remembered yet because they aren't ready on some level. Or haven't had a good opportunity/trigger at the right time yet.

I think many children remember but after they are ridiculed or laughed at or told it is not real they either quit believing or quit talking about it.

For me, I had nightmares as a toddler about a past life, but it was so taboo in my family that my mother never shared this with me until recently when I was talking to her about the possibility of past lives and various children's verifiable accounts. I don't remember the nightmares, but my mom stated they went on for years, and it completely explained my total obsession with the holocaust from an unreasonably young age.


Had it been not so taboo maybe memories would have been different growing up, but no way to tell now I suppose.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the current generation. I'm amazed to see all of the new members coming here and telling us about what their children are saying. Being able to validate the memories is wonderful. In the future they and their parents will be able to tell the doubters that the information has been verified.

I'm just afraid historical reenactment, video games, and movies are going to play havoc with future generations trying to research pls. If you read a lot, see movies, etc., you have already led a thousand lives. Even now, I'm having trouble deciding if feelings are from pls, or being exposed to so many old movies on television as a child.

For me, I note the sense of familiarity, then I analyse the emotion which has no place or correlation to what is being viewed/read. This provides me a significant basis on which to meditate or search the akasha for my feeling of connection.

This is very troubling for me at times, and I have often struggled with this question. Sometimes I will see a past life scene in a vision, then it fades away. For a few seconds it seems so clear and I feel like it is familiar, but when the image fades away I am left thinking that this place is somewhere I've been, but not in this life. I think that some people may have these recalls of past life imagery, but they may dismiss it as not relating to anything, or irrelevant to the here and now. It seems like those people who believe in past lifes are more likely to pay attention to these sudden flashes of memory. I think that once this awareness sets in, this enhances the emergence of PL memories. Or perhaps we become more aware of them, and are more likely to remember them. I think that we only remember a fraction of the dreams that we have, so to remember the dreams that relate to a past life is perhaps a gift.
