What's the reason behind it all?

Why do we reincarnate over and over again? What's the purpose?

Personally, I like the idea that we are here to experience and learn. But then, this might only be a desperate wish to give life a deeper meaning and a deeper sense. Like people since ancient times were looking for answers.

What are we here for? What's the purpose of life?

Some would say: "just to experience and enjoy it".
Wish I could be like them. While I have had short glimpses of this blissful feeling, I still do not know who or what I am and what I am here for.

Others would say: "to spread love and forgiveness"
Yes. I have been there, too. I have already felt the pure joy of being a nobody, and, as a nobody, spreading tolerance, unconditional love, forgiveness and such on a minor scope, as it doesn't seem to matter who or what you are.
Yet still, I sometimes feel frustrated. Which makes me think... why would I feel this way? Does this mean that I either didn't have that many lives yet or that I will never learn?

What if reincarnation isn't about learning at all?
The mere thought is scaring me and giving me cold shivers. But the possibility is there. Brrrr...

What are we? Why are we here? What are we here for? Why do we reincarnate over and over again when nothing really changes? Why?

I wrote a topic once asking similar questions SeekerOfKnowkedge. I think that I am learning so I seem to be here to learn but the 'flaw' in that thinking is "why do we come here to learn when we already know it in spirit anyway?"

Why does life consume life to survive and why is man held accountable for his actions when its just the nature of the beast?

I have many questions myself and no clear answers.

All I know is that I have learned something. What that actually means to my higher self is beyond me though.

You have learned something, at least. Wish I could say the same about myself. Did I learn anything? I still do not know. Did humankind learn anything? Who am I to ask? And so on...

All will be revealed eventually SeekerOfKnowledge.

You have every right to ask that of humanity because your a member of the species. We've learned to be more humane in the western world anyway, better standards of living etc but I've been on the rungs of the lowest of humanity and what people are prepared to do and accept is horrifying. There's no clear answer on whether humanity has learned or not...but we have put more rules in place to counter our nature.

I guess all we can do is hold ourselves accountable for our actions.

If morality does exist divine law must exist. Where else would it come from?

Yes, indeed.
If morality does exist, there must be a source for it beyond what the 3D human brain is able to come up with.

Anyway, I sometimes feel like I have been thrown into a pool of madness, having been left alone to solve some weird kind of puzzle.
Then again, maybe it is me who just is weird, crazy, unable to adjust...

I think we all must grapple with such questions at one point in our lives. If we didn't, then we are going through life looking down at our feet.

Life's meaning is something each of us have to assign for ourselves. Your reality is what you make of it.

I was a different man eight years ago Spirit Sword. Between fighting and reincarnation I've changed. I'd give back my PTSD in a heartbeat. It would be nice to be the man I was even for an afternoon.

When you are living with relatively "normal" people whom you love and wouldn't trade for free access to the Akashic Records, it doesn't make your own development easier... well, there are near for a reason. I should appreciate them and make the best out of it. Which I am working at. In one or the other past life, I would have given an eyetooth for what I have now.

This came up in discussion with friends not to long ago. I posed the idea that perhaps we are merely the Great Creator experiencing creation. Maybe this Entity (of whatever nature), for some grand reason, spoke the universe into existence as we know it. And perhaps the form of motion is the push-pull of opposites, the negative/positive, the light the dark, male and female... etc. And perhaps it was for some grand experiment, or some cosmic theater, that this Creator (undefinable as we know Her) plays all of the roles... looks through our eyes, sees, hears, tastes, experiences all that we do... and do under the veil of Knowledge. Perhaps as mythology and tradition dictate, when we enter creation we pass through the river Lithe, the river of forgetfulness, so that the expression of life adheres to freewill.

Why? Why is their evil, why is there famine and war, why is there hate? Perhaps it is that motion-of-opposites that propels the seen universe that this Creator wants to "experience."

So what is the reason behind it all given this hypothesis? Is the Great Spirit trying to ascertain the direction of freewill, the evolution of species, the instinct of nature? All plausible. I suppose this life can never be defined in our mortal parameters, but I do believe in our power of spiritual discernment. A basic tenet in some religious traditions is that "God is everything and everywhere" (A Baltimore catechism teaching), so doesn't it make sense that we too are OF this Creator/God. And suppose this Entity is basically good (a tenet in most religions, Buddhism/Christianity) and the natural concept of compassion and love is the motivation for existence, what does the darkness in mankind mean... the sorrow, the suffering? I suspect these things are of great concern to the Universe, and propose that we progress through our many lives as the Great Spirit encountering Herself/Himself... an entity of all things. And I do see love and the development of spirituality as the keys to understanding this journey we're all apart of. This carnal world is a brief, ephemeral glimpse of creation, and only by looking inward (in my opinion) will we find any answers. I believe that prayer and meditation are our powerful "tools" for understanding it all, but... in my opinion each one of us must personally find It.

Well, I rambled... these are my own thoughts on "the purpose," and its all subject to change:rolleyes: ~Tman

1. It may be that our brains are simply too weak to understand the reasons for these never ending re-incarnations.
"Credo quia absurdum est" (I bevieve because it's absurd) - as they said in the Middle Ages.

2. It may be that this is a prison-planet, and we all here serve terms for something bad we did in the other world. Then the punishment is the purpose.

3. It may be, as the Indians say, that the Universal Deity (or whaterver the name is) invented all this just for its own fun. No other purpose.

4.????????????

We, in any case, have no choice, I guess.

I see it kind of similar to Tinkerman.

There is consciousness on every level of creation, so that in the end it is the creator experiencing and exploring itself. My idea is that even though the creator is eternal and perfect from our perspective, it still goes through some form of growth and evolution, which is why it created the universe "inside" itself.

What "our" creator wants is pretty straightforward: expanding our awareness and consciousness, connecting to higher energies like love and expressing those into creation through our actions. That is how we grow and evolve to the next level.

There are some mystics and seers who say that the creator is "not alone" and that there are apparently others like him/her/it. Which suggests that there is an even deeper layer of reality that goes beyond even the creator of the universe.

And in some ways, we are connected to that deeper reality as well through our consciousness and awareness - even though it may go well beyond what we can explore as long as we have the limitations of being on this level of development as humans. So for now, a lot of it may be unknowable.

My option too. Based on a spiritual experience in which I was shown a lot. Curiosity was also a big item.

Apart from this: the only logical explanation beyond time and space is to assume that matter and non-matter all originate from one source. It’s the only explanation for questions like: What was before the Big Bang? I see it very clear, but I think I am not a good translator in this field. It’s all about consiousness. All you notice around you was created at some point. We are all one big consiousness in multiple forms. There is not one big God, because God is us ourselves. The trees as well. The wind as well. Mijn grandfather as well. The Sun and the Moon as well. My enemies and Darkness as well.
At the same time, as a paradox, concentrated forms of consiousness can call themselves ‘god’, just because they are. Doesn’t exclude us being God as well.

I only see naked statements with not even an attempt to somehow justify them logically. Plotinus compared to this is much more explicit, and even Plotinus sounds japanese most of the time. It all looks well like the science-fiction novel "The Maker of Universes" by Philip J. Farmer, where a very bored ordinary gentleman from some fairly advanced extra-terrestrial civilization creates universes and populates them with humans from this planet, just for his fun. He creates universes just as nowadays some nature-lovers create (or buy already pre-fabricated) ant-hills, in transparent plastic cubicles, to watch and govern (right from their homes) the life of a big colony of ants.

I'm a physicist by education, and I just don't understand how energy (a well defined physical concept) can be related to smth. so abstract as love. To say nothing of such "pearls" as positive/negative (in the sense of electric charges) energies and the like.

Regards.

Thoughts create electric energy, just enough to be measurable. I have read somewhere that the magnetic field around the heart is then thousand times stronger than the magnetic field around the brain. Which would mean that feelings are related to energy.
And I wish I could find out more about people loosing a certain amount of weight in the moment of death. How much was it again? 18 grams or something.

I think there is one difference with your exemple of the bored gentleman.
It’s about creating and inhabiting a place at the same time. You make it and live it at the same time.

Hi Cyrus. One has to look beyond science. I can't explain it but I had an NDE in 1998 and I experienced creation as love and synergy...oneness.

There are other routes that can be taken to experience that feeling but that's been my experience.

Love might not be something that can be measured by science but one cannot deny its existence. Its binds people together... is it so hard to believe that it binds creation? ( by creation I mean spiritual realms also ) The world is but a walking shadow after all.

How do we know the first humans here on Earth weren't migrated from some other place some time AFTER the creation? The missing link and all that. And migration is not the only way.
As Mauro Biglino (ex-translator from hebrew of Vatican) says, the homo sapiens might have been created from homo erectus through genetic engineering by the Biblical Elohims (adding pieces of their own DNA) to provide themselves with slaves, capable of understanding their orders. I'm not sure, but it looks like it was Zecharia Sitchin's idea (I never read Sitchin), after deciphering old sumerian tablets.

Energy to love, thought, etc. is like money to the construction of a new, say, ship. It's necessary, but not enough: you need smth. called know-how, as well.
Energy is very low-parametric, so to say, you cannot put too many details into it.

Now I can only confess that I don't know.
For a more logical thinker who builds his view of the world mostly on science, this is quite an accomplishment.
Wish more scientists, historians and other such people would admit that there are a lot of things that they don't know, instead of filtering everything in a way so that it will "prove" their own theory.
