3 year old talking about "first life"

My son is 3 years old and other than being a little neurotic he is a happy healthy little boy. The other day I was checking one of our local news channel websites on the internet. The main photo on the page was a mangled car that had been in a traffic accident and a bunch of firefighters standing around the vehicle. When my little guy saw the picture he turned to me, started pointing franticly and said "Mama do you remember when that happened to me?" I said something to the effect "what are you talking about" and he said "Remember when I was a police officer and I crashed into the buildings and was bleeding?

He was talking really fast and was excited and serious about what he was saying. He then said " I went to the hospital and I didn't make it". At that point I got a little freaked out and just said "well you are okay now" and he replied "I'm okay Momma, that was in my first life". At that point I got a little scared. I didn't want him to tell me anything else so I quickly changed the subject. He only watches morning pre-school cartoons - Dora the Explorer and Blues Clues type programs and has never been exposed to any sort of conversations on reincarnation or past lives. He never makes things up and has only recently started telling little fibs to get out of trouble i.e "no Mama I didn't throw cookies behind the couch" type statements. I don't know what to think. He was so serious when he was talking about it and it was like he was speaking from memory. Anyway I wanted to share my story as it has really made me change my opinion on the possibilty of reincarnation but at the same time really spooked me.

Welcome,

Have you read The Four Signs of Children's past life memory yet? It is a must read for parents new to reincarnation, and if you want to learn how to respond to him. From what you have described - he seems to be remembering.

Keep a journal, make notes - they will prove to be invaluable.

You might also enjoy the thread - Meeting an old friend again which is about a little boy remembering being a police officer and it is a wonderful example.

Hi Javanova7 and welcome to the forum. You have come to a great place to explore reincarnation there is alot of excellent threads about childrens pastlife experiences and alot of information on pastlives that I hope you will enjoy reading.

Thank you for sharing your son's story with us and I would love to hear of any updates.

Kind Regards

Hi there. This certainly sounds very interesting. My situation is similar to yours (see my thread). My 2 year old is coming out with some wierd stuff that's freaking me and his Dad out a bit! So if you ever need someone to talk to about the fact that you're feeling a bit spooked by the whole situation, feel free to send me a message, because I can certainly relate! ;)

Hi javanova7,

I was in your situation almost 2 years ago. I'm glad I found this forum because I was downright panicked. I didn't want my son to say anything else either but I'm glad I got over that. He really had some things to work out and I am so thankful that this forum was here. I read a lot of the threads on the forum and it started to seem less freaky that my son said the things he did.

I also read Carol Bowman's books 'Children's Past Lives' and Return From Heaven. Both of the books were very helpful. You will see that other children talk like this and you can get some good ideas on what to say.

My problem was that my son would always say these things totally out of the blue. Its not like their cat dies or something and you know you are going to have to talk to them about it and you can think about what you'll say. Past life stuff just takes me totally off guard and it happened enough times that I developed sort of a stock of questions or comments to say when he brought it up.

here are a few of my favs...

Oh? Then what happened?

Tell me more about that

How did you feel when that happened? (many of my son's memories were of his past life mother dying)

Sometimes I've asked him what his name was in his past life but i wouldn't suggest asking too much or leading him.

We were having incredible sleep issues and I was really looking to resolve the past life portion of our trouble.

Also, try not to feel like you have to have an answer if they have questions. My son was also surprised that I don't remember the things he does. I explained to him that sometimes Mommies and Daddys have been away from heaven too long to remember. I would just tell my son that I don't remember but I'm so glad he came to me out of all the mommies in the world to choose from.

Good luck to you. We're all here for you.

Hi Javanova7,

It was reading your post that made me think to give an update on Helena Rose. I know just what you mean when you say that your son was speaking "fast, excited and serious". When Helena first told me about her mom and dad the words came out so fast, so filled with emotion, and so serious that I was quite shaken by it all. It was as though it had just happened that day. I believe that Bowman calls this one sign of a past life and not just a child's imagination.

Even for me to again recall that time when she first told me...I can picture her in her highchair... I am not at all surprised that it would be the picture on TV that brought your son's memories to the present.

So true for us also marsey. My son also spoke very fast and excitedly as if he'd waited a long time to be able to share this info. He also spoke with a lot of emotion, even crying when talking about his past life mother dying.

Hi Javanova7

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for sharing the story of your son.

There is nothing to be afraid of in reincarnation. It is a very natural phenomenon and as you can see from reading the stories in the forum not that uncommon particularly for little children to remember their most recent past life in particular the circumstances of their death. As Vicky says, if he says things like that don't overreact, just treat it as though he was telling you something important and wants to be heard, without going overboard and making a huge deal out of it.

When I was a little child I remembered all sorts of things from a variety of lives and continue to do so. However, I learned to keep quiet about it because it tended to frighten the grownups and make the other kids think I was weird. I think it is marvellous that it is more acceptable and better understood in our culture these days.

You will find some excellent guidance in the literature Deborah has suggested and in reading the stories of others on the forum.

Best wishes for your little son.
