A Question on Memories?

As I've said earlier, I only seem to remember two Past Lives (PL's) in dreams that I had as a child years ago.

And as I sat here this afternoon speculating (actually dozing) on PL's, I wondered why I only remember two lives at most.

Is it because these two lives were stellar and non-selfish, one as an innocent child and the other as a Pilot defending his country.

Or is it because some people condition themselves to remember only the good lives, and "disregard the rest" (to coin a phrase from an old song from the '60's).

But, I find it hard to believe that I have only had several "good" lives and the rest were bad (or mediocre)?

Any thoughts on this line of thinking?

Honestly, Hydrolad, I don't think that a lack of memory has anything to do at all with having been bad or mean. While it seems more likely that one would repress a traumatic experience, so many people are reported to remember their deaths. So, that sort of dispels such logical thinking. I think it's more a matter of what memories we're ready for.

I agree with Nightrain that it's about what we are ready to learn, but I also think that we can hinder ourselves from learning certain things out of fear or guilt. It took me years from the time I remembered certain lives for me to remember certain things I did, or certain things that happened to me, I think because I wasn't ready for them but also because I somehow blocked the memories from myself, if that makes sense. It could be possible that you've only had 2 lives so far, but if not, the answers will come. ;)

Hi Hydrolad,

pretty much all of us have had many previous lives. The fact that we only remember some of them could have something to do with the fact that we only remember the ones that are pertinent to our present lives. They tend to serve as a guide for certain trends and conditions that we are trying to resolve in our present life. This is a persistent theme throughout the Edgar Cayce material.

I agree with Merlin. The only vivid memories I have of the past are useful this time. I have been able to identify several other lives that I have little memory of, but have no place in what I do now. I don't think it has to do with repessing unless it's something you're not ready for. Perhaps you'll remember those lifetimes next time, if they are useful to what you are doing or learning.

Thanks for the posts so far, and this line of thinking may possibly be right (at least for me), that we have Past Life (PL) memories of things that we need in this life (if I understand the gist of the posts).

If I'm to believe my two PL memories, I'm still trying to figure out how being eaten by a Wolf and taking a nosedive into the English Channel has to do with my current life?

However, being eaten by a Wolf probably relates to when I was working, and perhaps the other PL was to place others above myself?

Oh well, I'll just keep on dozing and see if anymore PL's pop up!
