I have a funny story about the ‘gender issue’ relating to my NDE at the age of 18. I was ‘recalling’ the ‘spiritual trip’ outside my body with a teen aged mind while struggling with the amnesia it left me with. I was perfectly normal in my thoughts as far as
semantic memories. My autobiographical history was lost in the process.
(Episodic) It was like I was reincarnated but keep the learning I had acquired up to that point in my life with no memory of personal identity.
Guys might relate to this more so than the gals. At the age of 18, the most prized possession we guys feel we own – is our ‘jewels.’ My instinct – we learn from a very early age to protect the area of our ‘jewels’ at all costs.
I could recall parts of the car crash that caused the NDE. I can remember driving at 125 MPH (a typical male teenage thing as well.) I could remember the car going at a direction that took it toward a ditch. I could remember rolling around until it came to a stop. I was still alive when it came to a stop but lost vital signs from the injuries shortly after. It was a blink of an eye as far as the transition outside my body. I was still in a human frame of mind.
(Either that – or – when I was recalling the sequence of events later, I attached human thoughts to it.) But I felt very human and didn’t know I wasn’t still alive and in my physical body. I could recall shaking and scratching my head trying to figure out how I had survived that crash and felt perfectly healthy and normal. I started thinking back on the roll trying to figure out how I got out of the car and was standing at a distance of about 25 feet away looking at the wreck. At one point I could recall how instinct had kicked in while I was rolling and I had been trying to put my hands down to protect my ‘jewels.’ I felt everything was alright and I was looking for injuries. I wanted to make sure I had protected my jewels and that the equipment was a-okay. Much to my shock and horror – IT was gone! I freaked out. The glass had been flying around me so – I thought glass had done some surgical work in the process and sliced off my prized possession. And being a teenager - I was thinking - "How the heck am I going to explain this to my Mom and Dad. My Gawd, I am never going to live this down. For the rest of my life, I am going to have to hear my family putting me down about the night I lost my jewels."
I was going to start looking for them hoping I could get it sewed back on.
Then I heard a psychic voice telling me that what I was looking for was still in the car and still attached to the ‘other body:’ the body that I was no longer in. That is when I started realizing I was dead and I was a ghost. I calmed down about my missing ‘jewels’ after that. I had watched enough Casper cartoons to make me think that ghosts didn’t have any sort of gender.
(I could never tell if Casper was a girl or a guy anyway.) I thought if Casper can get along with out ‘its’ jewels – then so could I. I was feeling kind of sorry for myself – because I had sort of gotten used to having them jewels around.
For years, I told that story to my peers.
(Other teen males.) I told them they better get ready for the shock of their lives. Dying was the easy part. The shock comes when you look down and find your prized possession didn't make the trip with you to the other side. I gave a whole new meaning to the 'fear of death' to my young male friends. LMAO
So from my brief (and eternal) moment outside my body - I learned you don't have a gender you associate with once you leave the human body.
