Avenging your own demise

How come souls never choose revenge after they die? Say they were the victim of a brutal murder ; why would they not choose to avenge that death. They might reincarnate later in separate bodies and try to play out the same scenes from lifetime to lifetime but why not seek vengeance? Why not assist the police and give them a vision of where their body is buried or lead the police to the home of the killer?
 
I have read where souls chose to reincarnate quickly to "get back" at someone, but its not really a practical method since it could take many years of growing up to accomplish. Oddly, I have read this sort of thing in a number of books. Overall, its not very effective and a bit of a misguided idea.


Most people just seem to come back angry. In one of Ian Stevenson book on child reincarnation, he was noted a child reincarnating and confronting his murderer. Apparently he came forward with evidence that got the murderer convicted. The child was born in India and, as memory serves, was only about 6 years old when he confronted his murderer.

Probably because people in general are really lazy and they don't want to put up with the effort, that doesn't seem to change by reincarnating. That is my first guess. On other occassions, getting revenge would create a vicious cycle.

I really cannot say for sure why people or some people do not want to avenge their own death in the past life. In my life-time during the French Revolution my mother enstilled in me to not take revenge on what may happen to myself and she and our family. She engrained that into me. So when I came back in this life, I was angry at the people who basically let us die. But my biggest lesson in this life is Forgiveness. It's a hard lesson too. I'm learning it and I've learned to also have more compassion for people who have wronged me in any way, past life or currently in my life now.

You have made an excellent point. Most do not remember the particulars of a past life, but they often have a positive or negative reaction to others, gradual or immediate, that is disproportionate to anything that has happened between them in the current life. In cases of enmity, who is to say that the fruits of such enmity, including actions against the other, are not "revenge" working its way out through the fog of forgetfulness that surrounds our PL relationships. I.e., acts of revenge for PL wrongs may take place more often than we realize.

Misty, and SeaandSky, totally agree! Actually never thought of it that way :) . Also some people don't remember really much of anything, versus some who remember quite a lot of their past lives. Negative reactions definitely could mean something happened between the two people if they met in this life.
