Do you recall or "dream" a specific name of a place you never heard of before?

Hi all,

I have been having these weird dreams all my life, which I don't know what to do with and they seem to be pretty significant to just disregard as nonsence.
To begin with, my mom passed away 9 months ago from cancer while she was still 57..I miss her tremendously and dream of her almost every night. On two occasions I have dreamed her in a "French connection."
In the first dream we both were at some place unfamiliar to me and we were speaking French to each other: fluent, native French from which I undestood everything. In the second dream I saw both of us taking a train from my home town from this live, going to a place where I had to defend my master thesis. (I graduated just a month prior to dreaming this dream). We arrived at some broad square, in front of something that looked like a city hall. I asked my mom what is this place, since I never was there before and she replied that this is Besse. (she told me the name but somehow I knew how it is written). Then I asked where is this place since it is unfamiliar to me. Then she replied that it is in France.
First thing next morning was to google the name Besse and indeed I found a few small villages in France that are called like that. For the record, I really never heard of this place in my life, I do not know many French people and I have been in Paris once, but that's all. I don't even speak French. One of these places, Besse-sur-Issole looks in particular very similar to the place of my dream.
Have any of you had similar dreams or recollections?

Wow Petya, that is really interesting. I'm sorry your mother passed on so young, but happy she is still with you in this way. I have had very detailed dreams of places, but unfortunately I've never really heard their name. Most seem Native American in origin. Do you think these dreams may be related to a past life with your Mom? I think I'd want to go visit that village! The journey begins! I wish you well and hope to hear more about it.

Hi Petya:

What an interesting dream!

I've had lots of dreams about places I've never been in this lifetime but only once actually dreamed about a place name which turned out to be a town in Mississippi. Someday I'd love to go there and see if it really looks anything like I saw in my dream. :D

Hello Petya. I'm sorry to here about your mother. hug2.gif I have no doubt you will be reunited with her. It is possible that in your dreams you are being reminded of a life the two of you shared in France. Knowing languages you haven't learned and knowing places you've never been are characteristics of past life memories.

I have had a similar experience. Once I had a past life memory in which I identified the small town in my memory as Broken Bow, Oklahoma here in the United States. In my current life I have never been to Oklahoma and I have never been to or heard of a town called Broken Bow anywhere. I later looked at a map, and to my suprise, there is infact a small town in Oklahoma called Broken Bow. At the time I thought that remembering that past life was a bunch of crazy nonsense that I made up in my mind. Successfully identifying the town was my first clue to believing that it might be real afterall.

Hi Petya, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. At least you can take comfort from the fact that you have shared past and present lives together, and will likely share future lives together, and also that death is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter in the soul's journey.

To answer your question, I've recalled a couple of place names from my past lives. Well, I tell a lie, I seem to remember part of the name, or something sounding similar. For example I saw the name "Guam---", but it was incomplete, like the second half of the name was scratched out. I already knew that I lived this life in Ecuador, so it didn't take a lot of research to come up with the name "Guamote". After a search for pictures on the internet, I found several that I recognized.

In another recall, the name "Cosanga" popped up in my mind, which turned out to be accurate. I believe that I may have lived there, or at least had relatives who lived there. About the same time, I had the name "Yacaharu" turning over and over in my head as I remembered playing in a river as a child, this name didn't turn out to be accurate, but research did reveal the name of a river near Cosanga called "Yanayacu"

I'm just wondering how those pictures that you found made you feel when you recognized them as similar to your memories? When I saw the pictures of Guamote, I felt what was like a rush of adrenalin or a jolt of electricity through my body, and a profound sense of nostalgia.

Hi Petya,

I too am sorry to hear about your mother, but interested in the things you have dreamed.

The same thing happened to me too, and I didn't - and still don't, quite know what to make of it. I dreamt several times about someone I didn't know - mostly just hearing the name. Then I dreamt I was inside this half-built but magnificant house and knew it was connected to the person I had dreamt about. Then a few months ago out of the blue, there it was! I was sailing past on the bus, just gazing out the window, and it felt like a lightening bolt as I clapped eyes upon it! and the wierd thing was, when I went and looked up about the house, it was actually left half-built. (It seems the builders went bankrupt and the owner couldn't find anyone locally experienced enough to complete his design, so eventually abandond it!) Though, having said that, I still don't know quite what the significance of it is...?

I have also, separately, dreamt of other people and been given names, too, which I both deliberately and accidently stumbled across and found to be real. And although I haven't much experience in these matters, I think somehow, if you dream of something like this, and keep a hold of it somewhere in the back of your memory, and you dream it cause it wants to or is meant to be found, then somehow in the future, whether you are seeking it or not, the answer, meaning, or reason behind it will eventually be found...

Thanks to all of you for your replies!

Tinkerman, I really want to go visit this place and see how I feel once I am there. Truthseeker, ChrisR and Lynnette, thanks for sharing your stories! Apparently, this happens with others too...That is exactly what I wanted to know. I have told my dream to a few friends but they never had a similar experience.

I hope that one day I will know the truth..

Petya, in your shoes I would look for whatever I could find that felt right in that French town...it sounds like your answers lie there. While I appreciate and send my condolences for the loss of your mother, it seems extremely apparent that she has simply changed dimensions and that she is waiting for you on the other side. No intent to be cruel, but she is at home...you are simply still here and as soon as you pass you will be reunited with a primary soulmate. She is fine, you take care of yourself while you are here.

Truthseeker, your comments of Broken Bow resonate loudly for me, but I do not have any difinitive feelings...I'll have to focus on it and see what I come up with, but upon reading what you wrote I was taken aback...something resounded loudly, but it was not of the past two centuries.

I apologize for my recent absence...I am going through both financial issues and domestic issues...interesting that I had prior knowledge that they were coming but you never really see it until it arrives...

Dear Usetawus,

Thanks for your post. I will definitely visit this place as soon as I have an opportunity.

Now as for my mother, I also believe that she is ok where she is...And wherever she is, it is probably hundred times better than her last months of fighting with cancer. Actually in the days affter she passed, she gave me signs that she is ok. I don't know how this will sound to you but something happenned that really shook me up an made me start looking for answers.

On the day of the funeral I was very upset and I have been begging her in my mind to give me a sign that she is fine. Especially witnessing the suffering in which she had to go...After a few days an old collegue of my dad gave him a call. I still remember his face going pale. She told him she made a contact with my mom. He was stunned because she never ever gave any signs to him or her other collegues that she has such capabilities. Not to mention that she has a very important position in a large company. According to my father she has always been very pragmatic, analytical and down to earth. She also wanted to speak with me. She told me then what my mother said. In a few words, she said that my mom said that we shouldn't cry for her and that she couldn't have imagined how good it was: finally a world without pain. She said and I quote " I am not travelling yet" but that we have to know that it was her time and she took that road already 3 months before her physical death. She then said that I have been thinking about doing something at a church ( and the lady gave the name of the church). When I heard that, I had a goose skin. Two days after her funeral I went to her favouriate monastery in the mountains to light a candle for her. It is not a very known place and that lady couldn't have known that first of all, it was a place my mother liked and second of all, that I actually went there to light a candle for her.

So I guess..that was her sign. Since I was begging her so badly...I still don't know what to make of it. And i know it might sound crasy to some of you but it gave me some peace. And now I know that I will see her again..

Hi Petya!

Some of the most credible people I've ever known have reported visions or signs from a loved one who has passed over. Many very credible stories also report of other more "sensitive" persons who have delivered messages from the other side. It is only during the last five years that I have allowed myself to put any stock in such things; and it is only now that I recognize that I had such a visit.

Many years ago I had a vivid dream that my deceased mother visited me. But, I was so steeped in the material world, that I believed that she was really alive again; and that I had, somehow been fooled by people into thinking that she had died. As a result I couldn't focus on what she had to say. I was so wrapped up in surprise, anger and bitterness for having been put through an elaborate hoax regarding her death. I wasn't ready to cope with the reality of her continued existence.

Days later I dreamed of a second visit; but, this time she was a voice from a cherry tree. Strange as it may sound, I was willing to accept her in spirit this way. The cherry tree was the very first tree that I ever climbed as a very little boy. And, it was in the arms of that tree that I used to sit for hours, feeling safe. My mother must have known that, and chose that tree as the best way to let me know that she was alright.

I thought your in your icon you had a french phenotype not dutch, sorry about your mother my father was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago.I think you should research besse more completely and your own family history

I dreamt maybe 14 years ago or so of an old man white haired sitting with me at a bus stop - he said to me "this whole area used to be called wessex" and stretched out his arms, never had I had the term wessex.

Later I found my british ancestors were Kentish and that kent use to be part of the 'kingdom of Wessex'

I've dream of placenames a dozen times the oddest one was Donaldtown, texas I am not american and still have no idea what it means.Sometimes it can be a pun play on words, you should look at it as a clue to something else see what besse translates too..could be a message in that.

Get your dna tested then you'll know if you have french ancestry, they can compare segments/blocks of your dna to thousands of different people to see where you match.Basically they look for people who have the same spelling errors as you on their genome.

Hi Nightrain!

Thanks so much for sharing your amazing experience with your mom. I think the way she chose to show you she is fine is so beautiful and comforting...When I read the books of Michael Newton a lot of people reported how they were trying to comfort their mourning loved ones by giving them signs and that sometimes they would enter your dreams to connect with your spiritual self which is more receptive of the spiritual world during the time of sleep. The vivid dream you had...I really know what you mean. I also had one a few months after my mom passed away. She was in my dream, doing some every day stuff in what looked like just a normal dream. Then suddenly, it was as if I "woke up" in my dream and told her: "Wait a second, you are not a dream, right! This is really you!" Then she stopped doing whatever she was doing very abruptly..it almost felt like I "caught" her. She was just looking at me with tears in her eyes. I was begging her to tell me how she is, where she is and if she is doing fine...but she was just looking at me with her eyes, full with tears and didn't say anything. It felt like she wanted to tell me but she was not allowed to talk to me...i must admit that when I woke up I was very very sad that she didn't want to tell me anything. But on the other hand, I cannot be greedy for this information anymore..I think she gave me enough signs already..

Hi Katrien!

You have some very interesting suggestions...However as far as I know I have nothing French. I am not even Dutch. I live in Holland, yes, but genetically I am not. My father is Bulgarian and my mom is Armenian. What a mixture, ah! But I always wanted to get my DNA tested anyway for other reasons. I have a rare blood group with rhesus negative factor. I have read a lot about it and there are very specualtive theories about the origins of the rhesus negative factor. Anyway, this is completely another topic, but some of the research has shown that some populations have higher percentage of the negative rhesus factor: the Spanish and French Basques and the Berbers in Morocco. Some even speculate that this blood factor has a celtic origin...So that is why i wanted to do a DNA test, just to see if there is some credibility to these theories. :D

I have also tried to research what Besse means but so far I have not found any meaning..it's just a name...Have you been to Kent btw? Do you remember how the place where you were sitting with the old man looked like? It would be really interesting if you can find that bus stop in Kent that you dreamt..

I have had my dna tested by three companies and a professor I know, it is extremely informative.

I can see exactly where the blocks on my chromosomes [dna] come from/what people I have the strongest affinities with. They also tell you alot abt your health, traits, blood type etc. They said my father had a 42.7% risk of prostate cancer vs the 16% average and prostate cancer was what he was recently diagnosed with.

Not suprising what you said abt the basque/berber affinities with celts, brits esp the irish and welsh are very closely related to the basques.Search 'brits are basques'' in Google.Bulgarians I don't know about ,but slavs have a high indian component, abt 11% affinity with India.

Your dna is your deep and recent ancestry, you may be suprised to see what you find there - I was! and only a little of your dna codes for your appearence so you can't judge the book by its cover.

The only place I would recommend is 23andme'.com maybe wait till they have a sale - recently it was half price for a week, they may do that again to increase their database of samples.

I have not been to Kent but I want to go one day.For the bus stop it the dream I just look at it symbolically not literally.
