Do you recognize any of your PLs' as well-known person?

Maybe you were a gret emperor, king, queen, tsar, leader, commandor? I identify myself with two known for you people: Aleksandros the III (the Great) and tsar Piotr the I (the Great, too). They could probably be my PLs, because I've got really much memories connected with them and... ambitions... features... and, of course, they two were really similar to themselves. How about you? :)

I was a down-on-his luck nobleman in France. My family's fortune had dwindled but our name was still highly regarded. I remember thinking what an important and impressive man my father was and always feeling a little weighed down by the fact. The family name was all we had and I lived my life (and, indeed, ended it) trying to uphold our honour. In the grand scheme of things my father wasn't important at all, barely known outside of our town! When I recalled his name I was so excited to look for him online. Surely he'd been recorded in history! He was so powerful! Absolutely nothing. Either I've made him up or, or he was just a man, important in the eyes of his son, nothing more.

I think I may have also been the daughter of a vicar in the 1850s, again, important and well-known in our village, but no further than ten miles away!

That's as well-known as I think I've ever been and I'm glad of it! Much easier to explain to other people and to myself! I confess, I'm always a little skeptical of famous incarnations... I'm sure someone must have been Cleopatra, but not the thousands who claim they were. Still, each to their own!

Just because you can't find it online doesn't mean they didn't exist. It just means the records have not been digitized and put online yet. Have you ever seen the Peter Rampton documentary? This was made in Australia in the 1980's. Before the Internet. They hired professional researchers to go through handwritten official records that were 200 years old.

I hope that's the case Argonne! I believe this would be 1500s - 1600s, possibly during the Italian Wars. So records really would be few and far between. And I really don't think there would be much data for him anyway, beyond birth and death records. I was quite interested and amused by how OFFENDED I felt that history didn't deem this man (my father) as important! I felt let down and angry and a little bit sick to think that I'd lived and died for our family name, when in our current world it meant absolutely nothing! I always find emotion to be quite a strong piece of evidence for me. So, in finding no evidence online, I actually found more proof for myself, if that makes any sense at all!

In those days most people never traveled more than 20 or 30 miles from where they were born. So in their world, he would have been a very important person to THEM.

That's exactly what I mean, Argonne. The honour of our family name seemed huge back then and my father's importance so vastly exaggerated. I felt a little bit sick when I could find no trace of him. That pit-of-your-stomach feeling when you've done something stupid or regretful A life thrown away for fear of shaming a family that no one even remembers today. My poor young Frenchman!

I've rather hijacked this thread, unintentionally! Apologies.

I was kinda the deposed queen of china and the first Sikh ruler of India, or Punjab in specific.

That documentary is fantastic. One of the absolute best pieces of work I've seen. Such wonderful evidence. Well worth a look.

That was part 2 of the 11 part series. 90 minutes total. I wonder why it was "Banned"? Banned in Australia? The research was excellent. The three women were chosen because their past life was in Europe within the last 200 years. The Europeans have records that go back 500 years. And they had independent witnesses. I wonder what was going through the heads of the witnesses in Scotland when the Australian woman gave a detailed description and drawing of what the university looked like 200 years ago? And the woman who died in the holocaust in Nazi Germany. During hypnosis she spoke a language the high school German teacher didn't recognize. Maybe Yiddish?
