If a lot of people report a phenomenon and have similar experiences I think it's interesting (at the very least) to consider if maybe something is going on 'outside the light of the camp fire' at the borders of the unknown (which is where we are).

Crikey dking! This is one of the greatest things about our forum I guess is that people can even talk about this stuff in a sensible and rational manner and share experiences and not feel isolated and alone. Whether parents of children or adults with 'odd' or 'unexplained' experiences we can listen to each other and talk about it and explore ideas together.

I say again 'golly'. :)

Yes, and I just want to add my thanks and appreciation to the administrator and moderators for their hard work and effort keeping this an active and safe forum for the expression of such a taboo topic for many.

I was pondering this memory more and found a trail leading back to an earlier incident in childhood. In the early 80's, the spirits I dealt with were aware of my 'mental block's in place about my previous NDE's and OBE's and pointed out that I had knowledge hidden away for discovery later in life. This was one of those times.

It turned out to be a long story so I wrote it down in a pdf file. It is 8 pages - and deals with the time when I was six years old and having out of body experiences and 'playing' with electricity to make appearances to other people's sight.

What the 'spirits of my friends' were talking about in the early 80's finally makes sense when I piece it together with the memories of the early 60's.

Sincerely,

DKing

Gosh Dking - your poor parents! :)

...My ‘attacks’ were so frequent that my Dad and I had time to set up the scene prior to the event. The first thing I looked for was an electrical outlet. I told him, “I got to get some juice in me first.”
The day came and he dropped the camera in fear. He told me,

“It was too much on my nerves to look at the ghost of my child, not knowing if it was the last time I was going to see you or not.” We never tried again...

Wow, DKing, that was impressive, thanks!

Once again, it's just a shame there are not many scientists who are interested on this: your experiences tell so much about the nature of the so-called "astral body", and the nature of ghosts, and the alteration in electromagnetic fields they are supposed to cause. So much to study here... this is not supernatural, it's something physical that could be measured somehow, I'm sure... But I know, maybe there's no point hoping science will ever take a look at this and take it seriously.

I also like how you differentiate NDE's from OBE's, I just wish there was more people like you, talking with this clarity about their experiences... and more when you were only a child and there was nothing tainting your mind.

I know I've mentioned this before, but there is a book written all about this topic, of the interactions between animate lifeforms and inanimate materials, written by a scientist no less! Lyall Watson, 'The Nature of Things: The Secret Life of Inanimate Objects'. He devotes a couple of chapters especially to interactions between humans and electronic devices. He thinks it may be something to do with interactions between electromagnetism, 'emotional energy' (for lack of a better word) and the natural semi-conductor properties of atoms/compounds etc. He even mentions the 'sensitive' technician who wasn't allowed near the equipment in the labs!

Street lights that begin doing this every night, all night long, should be reported to the utility company so they can change the bulb.
This reminded me of another part of the story....an aspect I haven't thought of since it happened.

The street where the police officer stopped me was new. It was seven lanes and on one side of the street was the 'city limits' and wide open fields with nothing in sight for miles. On the other side of the street was brand new houses. The city was expanding in that direction and the street had been built for the expansion. It was like driving on the 'edge of the world' because of the darkness that extended outward from that side of the street. It was pretty much like a 'ghost town' after dark. The cop had followed me several times. He said he was going to pull me over one night, but got called off to another call. I remember that night because he followed me to the 'dirt road' the street led to and when I crossed the 'city limit' sign - he had pulled off to the corner and waiting for me to return. He asked what I did down that road and I told him I meditated because it was out in the country some. Peace and quiet.

After his conversation that night - I started asking around and someone suggested I speak to an employee he knew who worked for the city. This city employee put me in contact with someone who worked in that department. We arranged to meet at a new 'convenience store' that was built at a major intersection on that street. I was standing next to my car in the parking lot when he arrived. There was never any traffic down that street and I had him stand on the corner and watch me drive to the end of the big wide open street and back.

It was like a 'stack' of domino's falling over unto one another on the side of the street I drove down - and another stack on the way back to the parking lot. He was a certified technician and professional in his trade employed by the city to maintain the lights through several districts. I had asked him if he had earned a college degree at what he did. Point is, he had credentials. I told him I wanted his advise and opinion off the record because I didn't want the mayor chasing after me for it.

I can recall him telling me that in all his years of working in the department - he had never seen anything like it and was scratching his head trying to figure what would cause it from a technical point of view. I asked him to give me his best educated guess the word he used was, phenomenon. He told me that he was going to have the department look into that section of street lights to see if any faults could be found.

Several weeks later, I got word back from him that the city had done a very thorough and lengthy examination of the lamps and wires and found nothing wrong with them. It wasn't news I wanted to hear at that time. I was wanting to blame it all on the city.

Your post reminded me of chasing down a 'city employee' to get his opinion on what was causing it.

Sincerely,

DKing

Another important aspect to the story. I was pulled over by the officer in April of 1978. He didn't know it at the time, but I had been contacted by the Homicide Squad and was working as a 'confidential informant' for the concerning an investigation into the death of a 17 year old who had died 1/4 mile past the city limit sign on that small dirt road in January of that same year. The homicide detectives were aware of my claim that I was in contact with his spirit. They were interested in that aspect of it - but - didn't want that to get put into the press. There were members of my hometown police department who knew his spirit was restless and roaming around.

The 'street light interference' didn't happen all the time but it always happened on that street.

For my own mind (during that time) I came to associate it with 'his spirit' coming to call on me. When I became aware of his 'spirits' presence in the car while I was driving else where in the city - then the 'street light interference' would happen.

In 1980, when I moved to the new city and a group of new friends noticed the 'lights' going off and coming back on as we passed, I said,

"My friend is in the car. My invisible friend. You can call him Casper if you want. He is my own personal Harvey."

I came to blame the 'Street light interference' on his 'spirits' close contact with me during that time since I couldn't blame it on the city.

Sincerely,

DKing

I was also reminded of the time my Grandmother passed away. A few days prior to her passing - the lights in the house kept going off for a time. It was so frequent that my Grandfather asked me to call the electric company. I asked around the neighborhood and no one else reported power outages. I kept happening in the days leading up to her passing - and kept happening for a few days after her funeral. My Granddad was worrying himself sick thinking there was a 'short' somewhere in the wiring that was going to burn the house down in the middle of the night. So, I fibbed to him and told him the power company had found the problem and fixed it - and that the problem was on their end.

I didn't have a 'vision' with my Grandmother after she passed, but my Grandfather did. (She spoke to me - but I refused to allow her spirit to make a vision of itself to me at that stage in my life.) My Grandpa didn't want to admit to it - and wouldn't have talked to me about it if I had been standing right next to him when he had the vision. I figured that her 'spirit' was zapping the 'juice' to make a final appearance to my Grandpa and give him 'one last piece' of her mind before she parted for greener pastures beyond.

Sincerely,

DKing

Thanks for these extra details. It sounds like there was nothing wrong with the lights. It was either you or the boy's spirit that was causing the lights to go out. When I die I want to try that at my funeral or memorial service. Give people a "sign' that there is something beyond physical death.

Street lights blink off when I approach them, yet not all of the time and not all of the lights.

So I attribute it to a faulty master circuit on the main line, yet this might or might not be true.

In the matter of Psychokinesis (PK), it seems to happen more often when I don't think about it, like not concentrating on it, or letting my mind go blank, then PFFTTT, scratch another bulb :)

Electronic equipment seems to behave well around me, much like animals do, I don't seems to have any "hidden agenda's" and they all seem to sense that, so they all behave, I guess.

As a hobby, I've repaired/worked on computers and they work well until my "good vibes" wear off the computer and the owner brings it back, good thing I don't charge (I don't charge for labor, you just buy the parts) like I said it's just an enjoyable hobby.

Just another one of the many mysteries of life. :)

If you can, stop and wait a few minutes to see if the bulb tries to restart. If it tries to restart after a few minutes when you are still standing there, then you will know it's a faulty bulb. In the opposite case where the light is on in the daytime it means the photocell is bad and needs to be replaced.

As of week ago I am starting

to be shocked by almost everything electrical.

hearing a snapping noise.

I seen sparks shoot of my fingers.

wonder whats going on.

It could be the weather. If the humidity is very low it happens. Also could be types of clothing, walking on certain carpets, etc. Do you have "static cling" also?

When my husband and I were first married, we would go on walk up and down a steep hill that had a major street on it. We would be walking, approach a street light, watch it turn off, keep walking and about halfway to the next light, the one we just passed would turn back on and the one we were now passing, would shut off. It tripped out both of us. Only lasted a few weeks too.

Maybe someone finally changed the bulbs.
