First I'd like to say sorry for deleting my other thread! I got a bit nervous -- I've never shared many of my memories and feelings before, and I'd really been looking to see if anyone had the same emotions when it came to their past lives. I've found letting go to be tough; I still constantly think of and wish I could be back in one of the lives I once lived. I just wasn't ready to share them.
But I've learned that everyone here is extremely kind, and no one is a stranger to reincarnation  so I've decided to share a bit about a life I remember from the Victorian era in which I was very content.
My first memory of this life was of a young girl sitting at a large dining table of dark oak. She wore a white frock with pretty lace and flowers in her long, curly black hair. She was staring intensely at a candle burning in front of her, hands close to the flame, as though wondering whether or not to touch it. I was watching her, amused because I had told her many times not to play with fire and yet she did it anyway, but was pretending to be stern and upset. I fold my arms and clear my throat, "Charlotte." I am using my 'warning tone' but when she sees me she smiles brightly, and I can't help but to smile back.
The next memory I got almost immediately after the first. Charlotte is playing the piano for an elegant woman in a deep sapphire colored evening gown, with gloves and plenty of jewelry. She is even wearing jewels in her hair, which is the same as the girl's, but in an up-do. I am watching from a corner of the room, holding a glass of wine, not daring to come any closer. It is my home, but I do not want to disturb them; they look happy. The woman suddenly looks my way, and then walks to where I am standing. She smiles, then grabs my free hand and laughs. “You’re a very good man, Nathaniel.” I remember feeling very ill at ease by her touching me, but her compliment warmed me.
After that I began to remember a lot more. My name was Nathaniel, though I am still trying to discover what my last name had been. I cannot remember what I did for a living, either, though it seems I did a lot of reading, writing, and avoiding social gatherings. My younger brother had joined the navy as a young man. He went missing at sea during a storm, cast overboard while trying to secure a rope. When he had joined, he’d come to me and made me promise him something that was very important him. He wanted me to take care of his wife if anything ever happened to him. Although I’d never married (I had been a very private man), my brother left behind a young wife and a baby. With no other family to turn to and no way of supporting herself, his wife Virginia accepted my offer of help and moved into my own home. I felt very uncomfortable with them being there, but couldn’t break such an important promise. It took many years for me to get used to them, but once I did, Charlotte was the center of my attention. I spoiled her and treated her as though she were my own daughter. I eventually fell in love with Virginia, though the whole thing was completely socially inappropriate and I never told her, or treated her as anything but my sister. I never did marry.
It was a very happy, nearly care-free life, and I remember clearly being extremely content.
