Grandmother/niece connection??

Georgie

New Member
Hi. I am new here.
I have a 7 month old niece that I have a strong bond with. My maternal grandmother and I were very close and our entire family mourned her after she died suddenly. My brother wanted me to babysit my new niece before she was born, but I was a bit undecided as we have differing opinions on child rearing. The moment I saw my niece, who had a head full of dark hair (unlike her parents or sister), I had an overwhelming rush of love, and when I held her I knew I would be quitting my part time job to watch her. She was born 1 day before my grandmothers birthday. I don't know how to explain the feeling I have when I look in her eyes, its like I can see my sweet grandmother. Does this sound crazy? my husband never knew her and thinks I am crazy. My grandmother had a very sweet spirit and I feel it so much. My grandmother has been gone 16 years. My niece also resembles her. Right after her birth someone commented that she looked like her. Any advice and help much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Georgie!

And, a very warm welcome to the Forum!

I'm not nearly as qualified as other members are, to give meaningful advice regarding the relationship with your new niece. However, I do think you have a wonderful opportunity to watch an old soul re-blossom. Do as much research on this Forum as you can, and keep a notebook handy to record all of her behaviors and your observations. The little things may not seem meaningful yet, but they will be important later on.

Hi Georgie, welcome to the forum :)

It's very difficult to answer your question when your niece is so young. The similarities between her and your grandmother could be nothing more than genetic, but like you say, there is something 'more' when you look into her eyes, and I think many people can relate to that, I certainly can.

Unfortunately, yours is a question that can only be answered by observation, looking and listening for those little signs as she grows up. Whether or not she was your grandmother in a past life, part of her still lives on in your niece (assuming that she is on your grandmother's side of the family?) and that in itself is something to treasure.

In case you haven't already discovered it, you may enjoy reading Carol's book, the title is pretty much self explanatory: Return From Heaven: Beloved Relatives Reincarnated Within Your Family

Hope you enjoy the forum, and please keep us updated.

Chris :)

Thanks! I most definitely will be doing some more research and reading. My niece is my grandmothers great granddaughter. I plan on lots of observing of her as she grows. She is such a sweet baby, with my grandma's sweet smile.
