How many times have you been the opposite sex?

I have always been male in any of the lives I can remember. I wonder why no female lives? The funny thing is, I've always seen myself as a warrior or soldier in every life. The same with this one.


I believe that current people in my life were people I've shared many lives with. I believe my brother now was my wife in my most notable past life. My youngest brother now was a young friend from that same life who we had somewhat of a father/son relationship. We have almost the same dynamic in this life. My current best friend now I have seen as my father in my PL.
 
When I was a child I enjoyed war played toy soldiers


etc. I think we develop a pattern after


being the same type person over and over again


which I don't get it? each new life is suppose to be


new? yet some of us stick in our old ways.


As i got older I got dissatisfied with war on the whole.


I believe I did fight some wars in past lives


maybe that where my disdain for it comes from


learning from previous lives.


Maybe the higher being wants us grow out some


previous ambitions that harmed us and harmed others.


The crusades the Napoleonic wars etc.


give me sick feeling in my stomach.


I guess I am growing past those ideals.


As opposite sex it's toss up mostly women


a few random times a man.
 
Have you ever considered there are male and female souls making it impossible to change genders with each incarnation?
 
Your statement has a truth to it


I believe being one gender in too many life


times something stays. And when you become


the another gender has some what of shock.


To anybody who remembers a past life


being a man or women most of the time.

The soul doesn't have a gender. The body has a gender.


It is the norm to remember both male and female lives, although some people do seem to favour either the male or female role. People can stay the same gender for several incarnations, or change back and forth each time. There doesn't seem to be a set rule about it as best I can see.


However, this is based on what people relate about what they remember and hardly a scientific study or anything. Personally I've certainly been both male and female in roughly equal measure I think.

I believe reincarnation is far more structured than what you think. Just as there is structure to belief in religions, there is also structure to reincarnation. I do not believe things happen randomly or by fluke. For example I believe our next physical mothers are chosen. That does not happen by fluke. Within the structures of reincarnation of it being the development of our souls and our pure identity and awareness, it would make sense for there is some form of gender within our souls which in turn does not leave what our ongoing physical gender will be open to some type of fluke Just as religion teaches you that god has some long term plan for you, so does reincarnation.


Nothing happens randomly or by fluke.

Well, I guess that shows just how much I know about the stuff, which is very little. Though I'm pretty sure nail varnish is another term used for it? However .... I do actually like the smell!

Maybe that's why we try different genders and such ... to learn what it is that all social constructs are missing and how to be "the one" to bring it out where everyone can find it.

In fairness i remember another female life i must have been extremely shy & also had a feeling of lonliness.


I think in this life i so openly talk about my feelings it felt strange to that not to be the norm.

Perhaps you're right John. Nobody really knows for sure though. From what I've read it seems to be a fairly individual experience, choosing our future paths in the 'between life' state. Some people seem to have meticulous plans and others, not so much. It's a bit like the way people conduct their present lives - some people like to have a carefully worked out plan and others just 'wing it' and hope for the best. People are individuals even in the 'next world' and life is not as orderly as some people would maybe wish it to be, but it is what we make it.


As to what gender you might be from one life to the next, it depends on a few different factors, some of which may include an element of 'luck'. I have read stories of people describing how they were presented with a few 'options' to choose from for their next life - choice of parents, body, gender, circumstances etc. and were asked to pick the one they felt most drawn to. Sometimes they could not have their first 'pick' for some reason. As I said earlier, the soul is not 'gendered' any more than the sea or the sky or the air is in my view. Although of course, there are people who feel they are born into the wrong body. We have had some interesting discussions about that issue on the forum in the past and what might be behind it.


If you are interested in this kind of thing I highly recommend reading some of Dr Brian Weiss' books on the 'life between lives'. He specialises in that and has gathered a lot of fascinating material on it from people's accounts. They are easily available from Amazon.com.

My whole feeling about changing gender


For along time has been "semi" based on movie


called Switch, It's Blake Edwards comedy.


"Note past lives" is not a comedy. end quote.


The whole premise except for devil aspect of the movie.


Is a ladys man wronged too many women.


They throw him in river and he drowned


He awakes in a dark hall,.


With too large pillars of light.


They represent god as man and woman.


He asks can he go back they say yes


Then devil put's two cents in lets


teach him a lesson what kind lesson they said?


Turn him into a woman to see how it feels.


In end movie the guy now a woman


has to find somebody to love him


unconditionally. He as women has baby


then she pass's away. She found unconditional love


In the end it had somewhat positive message.


But ,it had it's purpose.

as a man or women maybe god or us?


needs a change sounds to simplistic


I know there is very little much truth to it .


just thinking in different direction. :)

Varnish is also a term in funiture making in the states


We give cabniet a coat of varnish or the floor

Yes, I've seen that film. There are a few funny films on the subject of a gender switch. One with Mel Gibson a while back I remember was not bad.


I don't think having a gender switch is some kind of punishment though. I don't think there is any 'punishment' going on for one thing. I don't think we are being micro-managed by any kind of supreme being (although others have different beliefs of course). Apart from that it seems to happen with such regularity that I think it's just part of the 'natural way of things'. Maybe we just 'take turns' somehow, although I don't know by what mechanism this would be?


The restrictions on women and the approved behaviours of men is all socially constructed, as are all kinds of cultural beliefs about people of different race, wealth, ability and all manner of things. Perhaps it does us good to try the 'shoe on the other foot' now and again so we can understand that some things are just 'not fair' by experiencing them for ourselves? Then we might have an incentive to do something about changing them.


Or maybe there is no clear direction/director to all this, but just how things 'are', like the way evolution works in the physical world? After long slow trial and error an individual (and a whole society) begins to discover that certain behaviours are 'beneficial' and others are not.

I think I understand where you are coming from and can empathize with the feelings you describe. There has been a bit of an ongoing debate going on about whether "souls" are gendered or not, which may just come down to a question of what type of life/body a particular soul feels is more comfortable or natural. Of course, this begs the question: Why would a genderless soul feel more comfortable in one gender or another, i.e., doesn't a gender preference presuppose a preexisting gender the soul seeks to express through an appropriate body? Maybe, or maybe not. The research by Ian Stephenson seems to indicate that cross-gender incarnation does take place, but that most incarnate predominately in one sex or the other. Some on this board claim otherwise in their own cases, but I'm not sure this board can be taken as a typical sampling for statistical purposes. Anyhow, all interesting questions.

I don't know if anyone has tried to tabulate the results on this thread, but you and Mrs. McDonald seem to follow the typical pattern of having a dominant gender expression in terms of PLs. Do you: (1) have any sense (like Mrs. M) about what is or would be your most natural or comfortable gender during incarnation and/or (2) have an opinion on whether "you" have any ultimate gender outside of where you happen to find yourself during particular incarnations? Just curious.

I'm a girlie girl, but I've always felt different from the other girls. I've always known from around 8 years of age or younger that I was male in many of my PLs. Every psychic tells me I've got a lot of male lives. When I meditate I see more male lives. Tarot readings have told me about more male lives.
 
Sex Change


I have only seen two of my past lives as a woman and both of these were within the last 500 years. I suspect there are more, but haven't come across them during any regression, vision or dream. Most of my memories are of lives as a male.


I believe that over the last 2000 years, my lives have been predominately male, but that may only appear so because of the lives I do remember. I am sure my female lives are just hidden from me for the moment. There is no reason so suspect different.

if it matters to anyone


I have the majority of female past life memories


currently in a male body, and it feels so very foreign


none of my family have any past life memories that I do,


and I match my passed away grandmother (4 years before I showed up)


I do remember right before entering this life that it would be so very hard,


but thought i could take anything,


not so sure about that now...(my current life has been so very painful in every possible category )


I know people that have been either gender in the past and have no issues with it at all,


I can't even grasp how they don't care


given what I have seen, I figure it is how soon you show back up here that makes this difference
