Is there an increased search or interest in Reincarnation?

My mind went wandering the other day (wrong thing to be doing!) and I got to thinking (another wrong thing!) is it just me, but has anyone else noticed a more heightened interest in Reincarnation?

Now I have a tendency to lump Reincarnation in with Religion (not necessarily "Organized Religion") but that personal relationship with a higher power per se, and perhaps I shouldn't be doing that, but keep it separate.

Now I have seen patterns of what appears to be an major increase in the interest of a personal closeness with a higher power (considering the times that we live in), what with senseless murders and violence, and most people (myself included) are searching for answers to questions that I/we don't even have yet!

Which brings me back to the original question, has anyone else noticed a marked increase and/or interest in Reincarnation (which might have an explanation of the terrible "calamities" of today) say, over Mainstream Religion which is not too tolerant of alternate thinking.

As usual I'm probably not making any sense in my ramblings, maybe it's just a touch of indigestion instead.

I think you are correct Hydrolad, there is an increasing awareness towards reincarnation going on all around us.


Given that by far the greater percentage of our 6 billion+ population live, breath and believe in that reality, and our little corner of the western world has been deprived of the knowledge of it for so long, is it any wonder that our efforts at "catch-up" are beginning to bear fruits?


More and more, people are exploring the possibility of reincarnation, and even though some will reject the notion, eventually the entire population will at least be aware of it.


It's like a process of osmosis. You dip one end of a piece of string in water, and eventually the other end gets wet as well.

Your question is interesting, because individual perceptions can be so dependent upon local media, and personal orientation. I have noticed, for example, that when my attention is in tune with any particular subject, the whole world seems full of that item. And, when a local news service brings up some unusual subject, one will notice that everyone's conversations follow that same line.


In the case of this Forum, we have noticed tremendous increases in membership whenever the subject of reincarnation is taken up by any broadcast network. Presently, the James Leininger story seems to be quite high in the public consciousness. Not high enough in my opinion, however.


When compared to circumstances more than 20 years ago, today's consistent attention to reincarnation and non-religious spirituality is undeniably much greater, as documented by various polls that have been conducted. However, I have found it still quite dangerous to bring up the subject even among close friends and relatives.


I predict that something will happen sometime within the next five years, which will push media attention once again; hopefully, to such a point that public consciousness may flood the banks of established dogmatic belief systems, and will possibly bring a more consistent awareness to our society.

I wish there were more stories that would be covered, however. James' story has now been around for years. There's renewed interest because of the book coming out, and his is such a strong case it bears the interest, but - if the interest in reincarnation has increased so much, why hasn't the occurence of reports of new strong cases increased as well?

My own intuition suggests that there may be a number of very interesting cases out there; but, that parents or child-care workers don't have the means of documenting them accurately. There is also a pervading awareness (possibly correct) that very young children have an untapped ability to absorb information from the most obscure sources. With today's technology, the existence of computers and other sources are ubiquitous, and it is likely that parents can no longer guess how their children came to express certain facts. Modern researchers are suggesting that the ability of extremely young minds to absorb information is far greater than ever expected, so I think the general public would now be more likely to look for other reasons than reincarnation to explain the unusual behaviors of their young children.


I would surmise that a presently unknown case of an adopted child, who knows everything about their natural ancestors could turn up one day in such a way that will baffle "experts" and reach the media. Otherwise, there are just too many possible explanations these days, which skeptics are all too ready to bring out to the table.

I quite agree, but on a different note, there is "something" out there for sure, almost like a "Tremor in the Force" so to speak, but I won't discuss it for fear of running afoul of the Forum rules.


All I will say is that signs seem to point towards "something" happening in the next 1½ to 2 years, what that is, I'd rather not say.


What I will say is, whatever it turns out to be, I would safely say we're in for the "adventure" of the ages!
