Just a Dream?

We all have vivid dreams sometimes, but this one struck a chord with me, and I’ve always wondered whether it’s a past life dream or not.

I lived in a rural area. If I had to guess, it was somewhere in the US, but there was no indication in the dream. We lived in a modest farmhouse. My mum had just given birth to a baby, but she was back doing the housework in no time. I remember watching her as she washed our clothes by hand, and she just looked so sad, as if she were resigned to this way of life. I resolved to never end up like her. In fact I wanted to leave this area as soon as I was old enough. I must have been 10 years old.

My older cousin lived with us and I also had a best friend. She was a blonde girl called Vicky. The funny thing is she reminds me of someone I know in this life. It’s someone I don’t particularly like very much but who I have to socialise with every now and then. Strangely enough I’ve always thought she looked like a ‘Vicky’ and often call her by that name by accident.

The most vivid part of my dream was when my father took me for a walk in our field. It was almost like a sandy desert, and stretched out as far as the eye can see. We truly lived in the middle of nowhere. He gave me a lecture on how I should ‘Accept my lot’ and that ‘This was my life’... I shouldn’t keep thinking there was a way out. This was my home, and I should just accept that I’ll probably end up having a similar life to my parents.

I don’t know how to further explore this... would self hypnosis work (if so can anyone recommend a good youtube clip) or was it just a dream? It just resonated with me so much at the time, and I’ve always remembered it. A few other things happened in the dream, but these were the main points.

I don't know much about this.. Sorry..

But can you tell the clothes in there? If so, which century, also the architecture and all..

For hypnosis thing, it kinda depends on the individual but usually hypnosis works on everyone.

Hi Heroine,

I think everybody has the potential to be successfully regressed, and there is no reason why you can't do this yourself. It all depends on what frame of mind you are in at the time though. If you go into a regression expecting to see your past lives revealed to you in a blaze of glory, then more often than not, it probably won't work as the expectation will distract you too much.

There are a number of regression videos on YouTube. I can't recommend any personally, because I've only ever used regression and meditation cd's that are available to buy. But if you do a search, then I'm sure that you'll find something to suit you, it's just a matter of personal preference.

Thanks for sharing your dream - it sounds like it could be past life related. Maybe this thread will help to make things clearer: Past Life Dreams - Common Characteristics

Chris :)

Hello Heroine - and welcome to the Past Life Forum!

Thank you for sharing your dream, it was very detailed. I find the emotions connected within a past life dream/memory to be a strong point for validation. Along with the fact that the dream stayed with you, and you still haven't forgot it.

Like ChrisR, I haven't tried any of the regression videos on YouTube (at least not yet), but you might enjoy Brian Weiss's YouTube Channel, he answers a lot of people's most common questions about reincarnation, (not sure if he talks about dreams though).

If you try self hypnosis, let us know how it goes. And feel free to ask any questions - any time!

Thank you for your feedback :)

I think the time period was the early twentieth century. I wore a plain smock dress, and the my family wore plain almost drab clothes. We lived in a wooden farmhouse with a barn, and for some strange reason the outdoors was like a sandy desert.

I don't know much about this era or rural living though so it's kind of hard to explain.

I'll check out the links you have posted- thanks again :)

Luckily I know a little about that era.

Is the style like this? For the smock?

That to me, is representative of late 1940's and early '50's.

A smock dress to me, is closer to the late 1800's - early 1900's. To maybe early 1930.

no problem, did you google smock dress?

The difference being that they're called smocks after 1940, and pinafores before that. Although smock or pinafore refers to the apron worn over the dress.

I don't know if I'd call the one you posted a smock though. I don't know the exact name, but it looks like a modern / sexy version of a 40's and 50's house dress. They would have been knee length back then.

I know what's a pinafore, they're part of my school uniform. I wear them everyday...

The dress is from the 1910s, I got it from Wikipedia. in fact, I did google smock dress and that showed along with others.

I'm just saying that I googled pinafore, because in America, that was the term for the dress in the time period Heroine was asking about. I wasn't trying to imply that you didn't know what it was.. :D
