Knowing things that you "never knew"

I'd be very interested to know some of the things that any of you have recalled from past life memories that you were consciously unaware of in this life. For example, in my regression I revealed that one of my names' in a former life was Lisbet, and that I perished in a volcanic eruption in Ecuador in 1957. Now in my current life, before the regression, I'd never consciously heard of the name Lisbet, and, being no expert on geography, I never even knew there were any volcanoes in Ecuador. But after the regression, I was fascinated when Google returned hundreds of results when I simply typed in the name "Lisbet", and "Ecuador Volcanoes"..:butbut:

In a memory of another life, I saw myself as an adolescent girl, riding a horse on a carousel. I never knew it before this memory, but I've since learnt that the term "side-saddle" was used to describe the way that ladies used to sit on horseback....this was exactly how I saw myself in that memory, something else I was consciously unaware of.

Another one that I found out only yesterday. In another memory I have of Lisbet, I see my father playing the pan-pipes. Although i'm familiar with the pan-pipes in this life, I never knew until yesterday that they are a popular instrument in South America, particularly in the region of the Andes...which is where I lived my former life as Lisbet.

Little things like this all go towards validating my past-life memories, and I was curious to know what anybody else's similar experiences are?

Chris..;)

I vaguely recall standing in an open field watching a battle scene. I don't remember any details about the soldiers, but I do remember that there was a long procession of elephants wearing armor. Later that year I watched a documentary on the History Channel about the Mughal empire. The Mughals were known for using elephants as a military weapon, and constructed intricate armor for them, much like I remember. Needless to say, I found it a bit creepy

My experience would be seeing Renaissance toilets in a dream.

Also the strange location of a fireplace in another dream. It's difficult to explain, but only one side (the 'edge') of it was flushed against the wall. It was open-air and one side was facing the door. It was located pretty close to the door. I've been told that would be common for back then (Renaissance), for ventilation. I don't know if that's 100% true, of course, but it's a theory anyway.

Another experience was not from a dream, but when I saw Patrick when I was little. I was only 7 at the time and his pageboy hairstyle looked very "girly" to me, and his fancy clothes just plain weird. (He's from the Renaissance, or earlier). His appearance was veeery confusing, and frightening of course.

I guess my medieval life stands out in this respect. About a year and a half ago, I had a dream in which I was (for some reason) walking through a medieval dungeon. I didn't know what I looked like, but I had the impression that I was a dark-haired European woman. After waking up, I thought it was strange that I had looked straight ahead and never to one side or the other. But I found out later that medieval women were taught to look straight ahead, exactly as I had done in the dream!

I really like this thread and it was interesting to read your replies, so thanks, Chris!

I think there are way too many examples to list here, here are some:

- I didn't know there were black people in high places in Ancient Egypt, and I also found out they were dressed like they did in my PL flash.

- In a PL dream I went to Krakow, Poland after my death and saw a scenery - a building on a high cliff. Much later when I was about to travel to Krakow, I saw the same scenery in a guide book - the building is a benedictine monastery.

- In another PL dream I was with a little girl that had a pendant with a large, green rock on her neck. In the dream I kept hearing the word "esmeralda" and later I found out it means emerald, which was an unknown word for me also in English (it's "smaragdi" in Finnish).

- The latest example is from Brooklyn where I saw a soap factory from my flat window in a PL related dream, and by googling I found out there really have been soap factories there.

I would also include things one has been able to validate due to shared past lives with other people. It's so amazing to hear you have remembered same things other people earlier have!

Hiya Chris,

Great thread! :)

I agree with Karoliina -- there are way too many things to list! :D

I think one of the funniest moments I had was regarding a horse......

I am a city girl through and through....but when I was 10 my parents bought some property on the river that had some acreage. Their friend had two horses that were being abused by the person who was supposed to be caring for them, so he moved them to my parents' property.

My city-born parents didn't want me anywhere near the horses, telling me that they could "turn on me" and kill me  Of course, being the obedient child I am -- I didn't listen to a word they said. :D

Their friend had left me a two riding saddles (one English and one Western) and all of the necessary equipment to saddle up the horses -- he was going to give me riding lessons.

Well, I don't know what possessed me to do this -- but when my parents went to town, I got out all of the equipment, saddled up the horse and went for a ride. There I was -- pleased as punch, sitting on top of the horse, when my parents came home.

I had no previous experience saddling a horse -- no experience around horses at all -- but I knew how to do it without explanation. Their friend came over and I explained to him how I did it -- and how I knew to walk the horse around "because they puff out their tummies and you need to get rid of the air or the saddle slides off once you get going."

Man, was I in trouble....but it was totally worth it :D

Aili, :D !

Loved your story. Do you know in which life you learned how to saddle a horse? Well, it must've been pretty common knowledge before cars and all that, but I don't know if it was taught for little girls very often. ;)

I remember one PL in which I had horses and loved them so much! But I believe I was later killed by one (he didn't mean to, though) and now I admire horses but am also scared to touch them. :( (Sorry, OT.)

I recently meditated using William Buhlmans' cd Exploring Your Past Lives, and when he prompted me to remember my death, I got a "flashback" memory of falling from a horse and breaking my neck. I felt that I was the same girl that I mentioned in my original post. I didn't see enough to determine whether I fell from a real horse, or whether I fell from the horse on the carousel, it was very brief and not all that clear.

I don't come face to face with horses very often in this life, I don't fear them, but I get a tad nervous if I'm within touching distance of them. I've ridden a horse once in my life, and I felt very uncomfortable with it, I wouldn't choose to do it again.

And also, in this life I occasionally suffer with severe neck pain. I wonder if this is related?

Hi K!!!!! :D

I'm glad you liked the story. Knowing me as you do -- you probably got a chuckle out of the obedience part, huh? : angel

I don't know for sure. I believe there are several lives where I had horses, but the most memorable lifetime is probably Elizabeth's life in England. ;) :D

Chris,

The funny thing is, I'm not afraid to ride a horse, but to be close to one and touch them. And only big horses - I'm fine with ponies. :) But it makes sense, beacause I think at least in this particular PL I was talking about, I was killed when a horse got scared and wild, and kicked me etc. I wasn't riding him at that moment, but standing next to him.

Still OT... : angel

Aili,

Lol, I thought about Elizabeth. :D

Interesting thread!

Just today I got a validation of a memory when I was reading a book about ancient Agypt.

One of my strongest memories of my Egyptian life, is that of a welcoming party after Pharaoh Kamose came home from (an important) battle.

Today I read: Kamose chased the Hyksos as far as their capital Avaris, but had enough common sense to return home (to Thebes) for the festivities of the inundation of the Nile. His homecoming was celebrated with a very large feast.

Exactly what I remember ! Everybody was so excited that Kamose came home safely. His family (into which I was adopted) first didn't want me to join in their feast, but when Kamose saw I was missing, he ordered for me to join them, which made me very very happy.

Something to add...

Hello everybody!

This is a great thread...

Some days ago I purchased one of Roger Woolger's books, including a self-regression CD. As I`ve never been regressed or have tried to regress myself, I thought I might give it a try this time. This is what came up:

I am a woman in my mid-twenties. I've long brown hair that is falling loosely to my shoulders. I`m looking down at myself and see that I'm wearing deep red garments. I'm sitting on a chair that looks very much like a modern day camping chair. In front of me a little boy is dancing happily around. He's about 3 or 4 years old. I know that this is my son. I feel comfortable and "at home". The room is dimly lit. The walls are made of stone and are painted with ornaments. I look at the door (there is actually no door) at the man who is standing there. He`s also in his early twenties- very handsome with his brown hair. He is not my husband. He feels more like a brother.

This is where the scene ends.

Now, I've been wondering about that strange chair that I saw in my regression. I've googled it up and found out that chairs like that really existed in ancient Rome. I didn't have the slightest idea that they did before. I got very emotional. Because of that weird chair I actually thought that I was just fantazising the whole scene. Now I know I wasn't... .

It's the same for me. I've always been interested in horses and wanted to ride--as a child on a Pennsylvania farm we had a cranky pony and a lovely donkey that would not move  --but when I did some riding recently in Montana and Utah I was pretty terrified. In my recent PL as Maggie I loved horses, so I don't know where the fear comes from. I kept thinking it'd fall and roll over me.

The strangest thing I have had happening was that an image of a certain person I had in my head turned out to be true.

It's a famous historical person, the German-Roman emperor Charles V. and when I pictured him - for some reason I pictured him with a walking stick and as a tall, thin man, which didn't really corresponds with most pictures of him.

However on painting he was actually depicted with a walking stick and from another source I found out that he was nowhere 'emperor-like' in appearance. It was a fantastic feeling :)

Old Songs

I don't remember anything about a past life in Germany, but somehow I knew the tune to "Ach Du Lieber Augustine," an old German folksong. I recall reading a German fairytale as a child. I don't really remember what the story was about, but it had the lyrics to that song at the end. As I read the lyrics, I somehow knew the tune, even though I'd supposedly never heard it before :cool .

I've always assumed that I made up the tune to this song, but seeing this thread made me wonder, what if there was more to this? As it turns out, they way I remembered the song was correct. This has also happened with the song "Old Dan Tucker." I loved reading the Little House on the Prairie books as a child, and when reading the lyrics of this song (which were often included in the set of books ;) ), I always somehow knew exactly the way it went. Needless to say, hearing this song again made me feel quite nostalgic  .

Yes! That was the fairytale! Thank you, Sunniva! :)

That's really interesting about the song's origins. I don't recall anything of Austria, but that culture has always appealed to me and makes more "sense" than Germany. Thank you, Karoliina. I appreciate the insight.

Something I couldn't have known

The first time I knew something I would have had NO possible way of knowing was when I was 7-8 yrs old watching our old black & white TV with the cartoon Popeye the Sailor at the pyramids. All of a sudden the screen opened up to a vividly colored panorama and I was looking through the eyes of a slender young man with a jeweled collar and jeweled thong sandals wearing a white kilt with a jeweled belt who was standing between the feet of the Sphinx telling a bald priest in a long black robe fastened at one shoulder what to inscribe on a large black stone there. Then suddenly I was a little girl again. A very puzzled little girl. Not scared really, just fascinated.

Later I learned that the 18th Dynasty Pharoah Thutmose IV did exactly that--had a stone placed between the feet of the Sphinx commerating a dream from the god Ra he had had there, which he credited with making him Pharoah. The priests of Ra wore black robes and shaved heads. I know, I know, everyone says they were Pharoah such-and-such, but this was just too weird, and the stone is still there.

Yellow roses,

What a fascinating experience it must have been :) I'm curious if you had other flashes of that life during your childhood?

I've had a few.

The most detailed dream I had of my WWII life, I was "running papers" from some man on a street corner to a woman I worked for (as her servant/assistant). The papers were had people's information on them, like you would see on a driver's license, only without the photo and they were - - like regular paper sized. I found out that people did carry identification papers around at that time. I had no idea about that.

Also, in that same dream, there were these specific type of military trucks with canvas covered backs kind of patrolling around on cobblestone streets. Well, I looked up trucks and found the exact type that I saw in the dream and they were Opels, which was what were used at the time.

I also have dreams, every so often, that I'm in a "community rest room" where it's just one room of lots of commodes. It's the worst feeling. And I'm always naked in front of everyone else. Just the other day, I saw a photo of a concentration camp "bathroom" and it was exactly like in my dream.

Finally, there was the Victorian meditation where I was "sitting with the deceased" in a front parlour. There were coins on the decedant's eyes. Sure enough, that was not an uncommon thing at the time.

Oh, and then the most recent dream I had of going to synagogue and seeing that women sat on one side while men sat on the other and that blue was a very important color - - then waking and researching to find that both are accurate (as I've had no experience with Judiasm in this life at all).

- When I was small, about 5 or 6, you could ask me anything about the Titanic and I could oddly tell you. I had never seen anything on it or read anything about it, yet I knew when it sunk and at what time.

- In a dream I slightly remember being a long "riding habit" on a black horse. When I started taking horseback riding lessons, for the first time, I already knew how to do jumps and all other kinds of things that only advanced riders know how to do.

- As a young child I was interested in movies like Dirty Dancing. My grandpa and grandma know how to dance like that, so agreed to teach me the dances, like the Foxtrot and Tango. Oddly, as I started to dance with them I already knew many of the dance steps, some I had never seen or heard of before.

I'll share something that happened to my father. He used to be involved in Scientology, and though he freed himself from those clutches 30+ years ago, he still believes the PL regression techniques they used were valuable.

In one of his regression sessions (part of "auditing" in Scientology), he saw the pyramids of Egypt as having been gleaming in the sun, with smooth shiny sides. The image confused him for a long time, since obviously the pyramids do not look like that today -- they are finely tiered rather than perfectly flat on the sides. He didn't think much of it because it didn't make sense at the time.

About fifteen years later, he was flipping through a magazine (either a science one or Newsweek or something of the sort) and found an article talking about how some of the pyramids were originally built with smooth, flat, limestone sides, which have eroded over the years and left the pyramids in their present state. So originally, they looked like the ones he "saw." Reading it in this magazine was the first time he'd heard of such a thing; he didn't know it at the time of the regression.

Welcome to the forum, Neisy, and thanks for sharing your father's interesting experience. :) He must've fell off his chair reading that.

This is a great thread that deserves to be resurrected ;)

Sometimes we're able to validate names, places, habits, things, etc. that we see/experience in past life memories. At times it can be quite mind-blowing, especially - as Chris stated in the original question - if it's something you really had no clue about before.

There are some very interesting experiences listed in this thread and please feel free to share your own experience(s) :)

I didn't know anything about the Persian Empire in this life. I had never studied it in school or been really that interested in it at all. I then had a past life dream in Persia which took place in the 1800s. In the dream we were at war with Russia. I woke up confused because I didn't think Persia was still around at that time. To be perfectly honest I thought Persia was under the control of the Ottomans long before the 1800s. I did research and found out that the Persian Empire was around in the 1800s and was at war with Imperial Russia. Kind of neat and scary at the same time.

I have a memory where I was on horseback and there were 2 other guys also on horseback. We were arguing about what course to take to get away from the people who were persuing us. We were standing around a circular pit in the ground. It had stone walls up to about a foot above ground. There were many broken boards sticking out from there. I could always visualize what I saw through my life but I couldn't remember what it was. A few years ago I googled 19th century farm buildings (yay google!) and it turned out to be a style of a pioneer era root cellar, coincidently the native food caches were pretty much the same. So I'm not sure who's it was. I know we were there for awhile and were upset by it but I don't remember why. I had that scene in my head my entire life and I think when I was younger I knew but when I got old enough to start wondering about those memories I had already started to forget details.

Those are all great validations - they really give food for thought. Thanks for sharing

I was weaving wire jewelry the other day and it happened that I had some Gregorian chants on. I've done/had both before but not at the same time, I assume, so this only got triggered now.

Suddenly I found myself someplace else, busily weaving something, quite content, while hearing chant music in the background in the church. I had a feeling I was a nun. The whole thing lasted maybe 2 seconds.

I don't really know what nuns used to be busy with, except, I assume, praying and doing house chores in the monasteries, so today when I googled a bit around, there was a sort of validation, apparently some nuns in the Middle Ages had among their daily activities also braiding and weaving. Not all of them though. Some were doing healing work, other gardening, attending to the poor, etc.

For me it's a rather nice validation, as for me nuns and delicate handwork is a combination that I haven't thought about up till now.
