Learning Who I May Have Been

Hi all!

First let me introduce myself as I'm new to this wonderful forum. My name is Mariah (hence my name on here, as they call the wind Mariah.) I am about to be 20 years old on October 10th. I am a mother to a wonderful little boy named Damien and am engaged to a pretty great guy as well. I am originally from PA, but moved to Chicago to be with my honey at 17.

Now that's over, let me tell you why I'm here. The other night I randomly became obsessed with reincarnation and wanted to read on children recalling past lives, needless to say I found this forum. I have been reading through it all for a few days now and decided to create an account.

The other night, I decided to try and remember any past lives I may have. I did this through meditation/self hypnosis. I'm not sure if what I saw were indeed past lives or not, either way I'll share. I would however like for any of you to give me some tips on just how I can recall more. I'm not afraid of past lives, as I totally understand that they were in the past and have no bearing over this life. I would like to remember so it can help me be better in this life, help me understand my own strengths and how I can fix weaknesses etc. Plus, I love history and would like to know what my part in history was.

Now onto what I saw:
First let me say that these 3 visions as one would call them went back and forth between each one. I'll list them in what decades I believe they were starting with the earliest to most recent, I'll also explain why I do think these may have been past lives because they do relate to my current life and interests. So here we go, bear with me here, I'm a rookie haha.

The period I believe it to be in: 1910's

I saw a woman, black haired in a typical 1910s dress walking in this very pretty rural area, near a stream. Suddenly, she looked up at a tree, and saw 2 people hanging from it. One was white and the other black. She became startled and ran to her home, which seemed to be a cabin of sorts, and locked the door.

The period I believe it to be in: 1930s-40's

I saw another black haired woman, in a hopsital with a baby girl (also black haired) lying between her legs. The baby was alive and was moving normally as babies do. The woman was crying though, as a nurse looked on. I say I think it was the 30's to 40's because of the way the hospital room looked and what I saw next. I saw that same woman and baby next to a military man, sort of in front of a suburban looking home, getting their photo taken. The man was decked out in Military garb, while the woman wore a dress and the baby was just dressed in baby clothes. The man was smiling proudly, and the baby was just, ya know, being a baby. But the woman looked tormented and very unhappy.

What Period I believe it to be: 1960's

This one was more vivid and lasted longer for some reason. I saw a man, with sort of my hair color, except more dark brown compared to golden brown. He was wearing a blue shirt with small white stripes, jeans and a pair of sneakers. He was walking down a street in what I believe is Venice Beach or one like it. Townhouses and businesses were on one side while the beach overlooked the other side. The man was stopped by someone who seemed to be a friend, the guy slapped his hand and said "hi jay" to my guy. Then he went on his way. I then saw the guy go into a coffee shop/book store, he dug through a pile of books until he came upon a book with a black cover and small red writing, he took the book to the clerk. The clerk seemed to know him well, and when a woman with tanned skin and brown hair came in the clerk winked/smirked to the guy and pointed at the girl. The guy took his book, and went over to the woman and helped her retrieve a book off a higher shelf. She smiled, they exchanged small talk and he was on his way. I then saw him lying on the beach, listening to the radio. Then it switched over to the man, next to the woman outside of a college yelling, and seemingly protesting. I then was snapped out of the visions and meditative state after feeling like I had been shot or punched in the stomach.

Why I believe they may be past life visions: 1. All 3 take place in time periods of great interest to me. I've always been naturally drawn to all 3 of those periods, most prominently the 60s. (I often talk as if I were in the 60s, such as hating LBJ, and am VERY interested in the Vietnam War) People often laugh (older friends) when I talk so confidently about the 60s and tell me "but you werent even there" and before I can say anything else I just reply as if it were as simple as blinking "yes I was" and then go on about maybe reincarnation. I've also spoken to a close VET friend of mine, and he's convinced I was right there in Nam' with him, so much to the point where he got spooked and had to stop speaking with me for a bit.

2. The activism in my past life rings very true in this one, as I am no stranger to protesting and speaking out.$P$

3. My obsession over war, mainly Vietnam and WW2. Both of those visions, seemed to deal with those 2 time periods (except of course the 1910s one.)

There's probably more connections, I just have to think more haha. Anyway, I would like to know what all of you think about this? Is my imagination running wild, or am I very possibly recalling past lives? Also, is there anything I can be doing to help recall more. It's almost bed time for me here, but I'll be on a bit longer. I will also check this daily and keep you guys posted. I plan on trying to have more visions tonight. I'll let you guys know if anything happens. I am also writing them down as well.

Oh, one more thing, I saw a tie, a striped tie in my visions, but wasn't able to follow it at all.

Welcome to the forum. You have lots of like-minded friends here. It sounds like you are able to easily recall past life memories. And they DO seem to be valid memories. Start keeping a journal and write everything down. Do you know what "lynching" is? That is probably what you saw with the people hanging in the trees. And the description of the 1960's sounds real also. Several of us here grew up in the 1960's and it's strange to us to hear people talk about a past life in the 60's. There are several other people here who remember a past life in the 60's. You may have indeed been shot in the stomach at a protest rally, etc. It happened. There are also several Viet Nam vets here who can help with those memories.

What about your son? Has he spoken about any thing past life related? Have you read any books on reincarnation? There is a suggested book list here and also a video archive section.

I don't think many people were actually shot at protest rallies - Kent State being the exception. There was a man named James Rector shot and killed at Berkeley in 1969. There may have been other exceptions. That you were eventually drafted makes more sense. The whole era was basically a miserable mess. We feared and scorned anyone we associated with the military-industrial complex. That included LBJ, Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon, and to an extent, even Robert Kennedy. Eugene McCarthy was our hope, and the Chicago Convention ended that. Add Mayor Daley to the list. Venice, California was a dirty, messed-up place then. Gentrification came later. It was one of the few places that kids could "park" and not get hassled by the police in the 60's. The canals were so filthy that Venice was a local joke. Sorry, I digress. Anyway, a lot of people your age seem to have memories of lives at that time, including my daughter. It seems perfectly plausible that your visions are real. There's a theory that a lot of baby-boomers died in WWII, hence the Viet Nam protests. Your husband from the 40's might have been a casualty. The chant, "H***, no, we won't go", comes to mind. But sadly, a lot of people did go, and either died, or bear life-long scars. Keep working at the visions, and try "googling" James Rector. Maybe more memories will come up.

Thanks for the replies guys! And yes, I know of lynching. I'll have to look into that James character. When I heard "jay" the next day I scanned the virtual wall for any J names, and am still doing so.

I have a few friends who are Nam' vets, and one has commented to me that he thinks I was his friend over there. He became so spooked at our conversations that he had to stop talking with me for awhile. This happened well before I tried to recall anything.

And no, my son is only about 10 months old haha, so his vocabulary his limited to "baba" "mama" "mmmm" "yumm" and "hi." He walks great though! Haha. I'm wondering if he'll recall anything too though as he grows. I read through the children's past lives section and thought what a gift those parents have been given. I know if my son does start talking about a past life, I'm going to record it all and help him understand it better.

Another thing is I've always been adept to that normal people can't see (whatever normal is anyway) My mom has loads of stories of me seeing things others couldn't, and I do too. As goes with death, I never feel upset when someone dies, because too me they still feel there, and close by. This is a bit off topic, but when I went in to have my son I started flatlining, and was basically dead for about 30-45 seconds. I describe it as being pulled/falling down into dark. When I realized what was happening, I thought of my son and went "oh..I'm dying..nope, cant die" and fought it haha. Needless to say, I scared a whole bunch of doctors by just waking up like nothing ever happened.

I'll definitely keep you guys posted on this, as I hope you share any tips and leads as well. :)

That's common here, also. Especially with the children. I think being able to remember past lives and having psychic ability go hand in hand.

Oh I definitely agree. Which is why I figured I could give it a try. Nothing came last night, as I fell asleep before I could get in "the zone" but I plan on trying again tonight. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Update!

Last night was mildly successful. In regards to the 1910's vision, I believe it was 1918 because thats all my mind could focus on while seeing that, was 1918.

And regarding the 60s vision, I saw that same guy, sitting at his kitchen table reading mail and drinking coffee looking a bit troubled.

I then fell asleep after that because I was bit by this bug, which caused my arm to become swollen, hard, itchy and very painful so the dr prescribed me some pain meds to help with the pain, so needless to say they made me sleepy haha.

I wonder if the guy at the table was reading his draft notice? The "greetings from Uncle Sam" sometimes felt like reading your own obituary, or in my case, the "obit" of someone I loved.

I lucked out. I attended the local community college from 1968-70. College students had draft deferments, which is why so many guys went to college then. After that I was then classified as 1A (available) by the local draft board. But in 1973 they had a lottery based on birthdays. My birthday was picked as number 330 or something similar. Which meant I no longer had to worry about the draft. The draft was finally ended about 1975, I think. The interesting thing is the anti-war protests ended the same time the draft ended. Which makes me think many protesters were more concerned with the draft than the war.

I think you touched on a truth, argonne. At the time, I thought a lot of protesters were just conforming to our peer group, or had a motive that involved saving their own skins. There is nothing wrong with self-preservation, by the way!

The anti war theme seems to be a very prevalent thing among people born in the 50's and early sixties. A large number of us jumped back soon after having died in WWI, WWII and Korea which all happened in a very short space of time accounting for millions of horrific deaths and I believe the Vietnam movement was influenced by that to a very large extent and I think we played a significant roll in the 60's baby boom.

I find myself getting seriously frustrated even angry with people who promote or support the concept of war. The god bless our troops brigade really give me a headache. Those of us who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the last war know only to well the insanity of what they think is noble. War can never be justified, and that's coming from someone who was once extremely proud of what I did.

I have some very distinct views into my demise in Italy as an allied infantryman during the invasion of Italy from Sicily in 1943. While dying there may be considered "the ultimate sacrifice" from a human standpoint, I believe I planned to experience that event and reflect on it more as the quickly approaching death provided a high intensity backdrop for a series of very clear and concentrated personal interactions, the depth of which could not have been achieved anywhere else. I am very close friends with five of the "Band of Brothers" with whom I died then...and we have played roles for each other in this lifetime only possible because of the trust and familiarity provided by that experience.

As for justification for war, in my understanding war is a product of fear based in duality..."Us versus Them" to the greatest degree possible while incarnate. It seems pointless to me to question its justification as it exists in our reality regardless of our attempts to use logic to make it go away...it is an act beyond logic and cannot be justified without ignorance, falsity or out and out lies. Regardless of our human sense of tragedy, war exists, and our souls use it as it presents various opportunities for experiences not available elsewhere.
