My 3 year old has lived in China?

My daughter, who is 3 1/2, has been telling us about when she was in China.

It started about 6 months ago when she saw a women with bindi on her forehead (the red dot). She said, "oh, I had one of those when I was in India but then I went to China!" We then started asking her about China and she says that she made paper butterflies in China and met the king. She was a mommy then and "not really Addison, but Mommy Addison" (her name is Addison). She said that it took her a long time to get there because she had to walk a very long way. She's continued to talk about China for the past 6 months and always points out anything she sees that looks Asian. We try to talk to her about it- not judgementally, just inquiring.

This facinates me and I want to know more of her travels. She's so matter of fact about it all.

I just found this forum and the book- I'm going to buy it now! :)

Thanks for sharing your story about your daughter. Very interesting! I too had a fascination with China when I was younger, until about the age of 6, my Gran has told me. But I didn't say anything that sounded like I was talking about another life.


Remember to write everything down she says, even if it only seems a little bit odd. This will be very handy to have incase you forget anything or can't remember it properly.


I think it would be a good idea to buy some Chinese items like books with pictures. Don't let her know your trying to make her talk about her past life, just leave the book somewhere she will see it and she'll start talking more about it in her own time.


I'm glad you're going to read a book on the subject of reincarnation, may I ask which one?

I was going to read Carol Bowman's book first but this is literally the first time I've looked in to it. Do you have other books you suggest?


She's very adamant about taking karate and we're looking for a place that will let her do that- she's so young that we've had to practice at home for right now. The books are a great idea- I think we'll head to the library today!

Thanks for sharing your daughter's memories. Kris has already given you some great suggestions. Starting a journal is a really good idea, just in case you become overwhelmed with everything your daughter might say in the future. You can also try and get her to express herself through drawing, kids love to draw.


Gentle questioning is the way to go if you want to find out more. Simple questions, and go along with the answers without any extreme reaction.


But most important to remember is that it IS in the past, and she has a new life with a new family who love her very much. As long as she knows that, then there should be no problems, and she'll process those past memories and integrate them into her current life within a few years.

It's nice to see that you have a very positive interest in this. You'll be amazed at the amount of research that has been carried out to find out about the possibility of reincarnation.

Carol's books a great! You'll really enjoy them. I also highly recommend that you read "Old souls" by Tom Shroder. :D

I wonder what year your daughter could be talking about!


If you come across any thing you'd like any help with, I'd be happy to help you as I've been researching the Imperial family (along with China) for a number of years now.

Welcome! Very interesting story!


The name "India" itself is quite old. Did she say "China" or "Cheen"? China has been known as "Cheen" in India by many. The historic silk route between India and China was probably thousands of miles long. I think this route was closed between India and China in 1950s or so. Hence her travel has to be before that. :)
