Recently, my 3 year old has spoken about her other family.
She started speaking about them a few months ago, and told me about her sister, and other mother. At first, I just thought that she was being funny, as she has a highly developed vocabulary, and distinct sense of humour for such a young child. More recently, she has been adding more detail to what she says, and has repeated the same names again and again. She often talks about her sister Sada and mother Ada. These are not names that are usual to our family, or people that we know.
Also, recently she told me that she lived in England, with Sada and Ada. We have never been there, and have no reference to England. When she pronounces the word England, she does so in a very distinct British accent, which was amusing at first, but now makes me wonder why she does this.
When she talks about her sister she says that she misses her, and that she is not sleeping in her bed, in her house. She told me that there was a man looking in the window at Sada. Also, she has said that she doesn't want to go back to the white house. When I asked her about the White House, she said that was where she lived before. I asked her what her daddy's name was, and she told me that she didn't have a daddy before. In this life, my daughter lives with me, her mother, and her natural father, in a very loving family situation.
At times, I have asked her if she is talking about her mummy before me, and she has said yes. Now, when she mentions Sada, and I question her, she stops the dialogue and says "No, you are my mummy now. You are my only mummy. Sssssh! Don't say that. The aliens will hear you and wake up!"
Tonight, as I was putting her to bed, she talked about Sada again, and said "That little girl - She's not in her bed, she's not in her house". I said "Who?" She said "Sada". I asked "Where is Sada?"
Then she suddenly changed her tone, and sounded upset and shushed me "You are my mummy, and I dont have another mummy" .
And then she said "You were in Stralia (Australia ), daddy was in Stralia (Australia) and I was born in Australia. I'm so happy that I chose you mummy, and when I was a baby, you were sick." I asked her what she meant. She said "When I was a baby, you were sick, and then daddy held me, in his arms". She asked me why I didn't hold her?
She also told me that she wasn't growing in my tummy at that time. I was so surprised to hear this from her, as at 36 weeks pregnant I had very high blood pressure, and my doctor decided that I should have an emergency c-section because my baby was not thriving in the womb.
I tell her that I believe everything that she tells me, and that I always will, and that I always believe in her.
She often talks about aliens and ghosts, as well as her pretend friends that have no names. She often says that there are lots of ghosts around, and her pretend friends that are very naughty, are hiding behind my back. I ask her if she can see them, and she says yes.
I would like to know how to give her closure, on her past life situation with her sister. What should I say?
