I talk about this event in my book "Flipside" but thought I'd repeat it here, as I'm a fan of Carol's book "Children's Past Lives" and it brought me in a roundabout way to this research.
when my son was 2, his first sentence to me was over the phone: "Dad I was a monk in Nepal." Ok, I said. "Put your mom on the phone" She said they hadn't been discussing anything of the sort. When he was 3 I asked him "Did you know daddy from before?" He nodded. "Where?" "tibet" he said. I looked at him. "Where in Tibet?" "On the path," he said.
I remembered I was in Tibet filming a documentary (which "Flipside is both book and doc) about Tibet with Robert Thurman. Bob told us that on one particular spot it was the most sacred spot on the planet, and any wish would come true. I was going to wish for money, but out of my mouth came "I want a son."
So I said to my son "Was it on Mt. Kailash?" He said "no." So I thought about the paths.. and asked "Was it on kangra?" He said "yes, Kangra." That's the name of the path around Kailash in Tibetan. Ok, but I said it, not him.
Later, while in NYC, subletting an apt while making a film, my wife called. My son had taken two books out of this guy's library and threw one in the trash. She asked why, and he said "that book is worthless, this is the important one." It was Thurman's book "Circling the Sacred Mt." - he flipped it open to a picture of where I made the wish and said "That's where I found daddy."
Some months ago, we were in a Tibet shop and he disappeared. My wife went looking for him (he's 6) and found him in the back room doing full prostrations, the way monks do. He saw her and said "Mom, you need to meditate more. And this is how you do it.":angel:

. It is truly a gift for us that you are sharing your sons story. No trauma, no nightmares or bad things happening. He just...remembers.
