Mere Dreamer

My son has always had dramatically violent dreams, though not enough so to really disturb his sleep. He seems to relish telling them, so I always thought it was too much history channel, before I understood past lives. One of his recurring dreams is a little bizarre, though. I've been surprised at how distinctive it is several times, now.
As he tells it, he is a young soccer player. He says that armed men (police) come onto the field during the game, and he's not sure if he is shot or if the ball hits him in the head and kills him. He's certain he is in South America, though.
Now, I don't talk about reincarnation with them because I don't want to set them up for conflict with my parents, but I've always wondered why he would dream of a sport turning violent like that.
He's always dreaming about bombs and explosions of various sorts, so that isn't too unusual. He once dreamed of an exploding soccer ball, too. He also spoke of being "left behind" in Bolivia. He specifically said that my mother and I left him there when he was "really small," and that he was alone in a house with a kitchen and someone put a bomb in the kitchen and it exploded. The difference is in how specific he is about the details.
Makes me wonder, since I lived in Bolivia growing up and took him there for a year when he was two years old, whether that is enough for him to dream about the country 12 years later.
