Now that's pretty cool! Are you attending? What time does it start??? It looks like I may have to work.

If you decide to join, I hope you share your experience !

6pm EST.

Yes, I'll be there! I met Kevin the other night and I'm looking forward to his presentation. Everyone on the board seems very nice!

Quote from Kevin Ryerson's 1989 book, "Spirit Communication: The Soul's Path":
Tom MacPherson [spirit] will, on occasion, teach people object lessons. A client once asked him when a certain person was going to die. Tom said, “Just a moment. We’ll see what we can find for you.” Tom paused and then said, “We find that the person you’re inquiring about is going to pass to our side in approximately six to eight months. Does that answer your question?” The client acknowledged that it did and thanked Tom. Tom then interjected, “We also discovered something else of interest to you. We find that the person you’re inquiring about is going to be delivering the eulogy at your funeral.”
As the client gasped for breath, Tom quickly said, “No, no, no. We’re just pulling your leg. We discovered that you stand to inherit money when this person leaves the body, and we find that waiting for this inheritance is holding you back from accomplishing your goals in life. You have talents you should be exercising as the source of your livelihood. We also feel it is important for you to understand the impact the question would have on the other party. You wouldn’t want them to feel the way you just did when you thought that your passing was imminent.”
This is an example of how spirit entities can interact with us to nudge us along on the path of our own development.

Baro-san, how have you been? I feel like its been a while. I haven't seen you around at the other forum. I like the quote- how do you feel about spirit entities as guides?

It's a peculiar thought- what defines an "entity" what defines "spirit" and why do they seem to "guide" us mortals? :)

Well, its always a pleasure friend~ Until next time!

From the same book:

The Nature of Spirit and Spirit Communication

Many people think of spirit communication, particularly trance channeling, as a person falling into a comatose state, or performing seances and tipping tables. Although these are legitimate expressions of what we would call classical spiritualism, which draw on natural psychokinetic activity, they represent only one aspect of spirit communication. The dialogue between ourselves and discarnate intelligence that takes place through a trance channel is another aspect of spirit communication. Talking to one another, going into meditation, and entering dream states to contact our own superconscious levels are also aspects of spirit communication, because we are all spirit. Spirit communication, then, is a way of accessing all the levels of expression of the human spirit that help promote our knowledge of who we are as human beings.

Our human nature is not defined by our physical bodies. Body simply means “perimeter” or “dimension.” Even when we move beyond the physical body, our spiritual bodies survive. In other words, we continue to be “embodied” whether we have a physical body or not. We remain human beings whether we’re incarnate in a physical form or not. As John often says, “We’re not incarnate in the physical body, we’re incarnate in the human condition.”

The terms entity, spirit, energy, and light are all interchangeable in this model of the human condition. Spirit entities are beings of energy, or beings of light, and so are we. They are “discarnate spirit” and we are “incarnate spirit.” We are just in different dimensions or states of energy. Our physical bodies are simply the mechanisms that enable our human souls to have focus in time and space, and to have experiences in the here and now.

Just as telepathic communication between two human beings is an aspect or expression of spirit communication, so are our conversations with spirit guides and teachers. ... We are in constant communication with these entities through our meditations, dream states, and direct dialogues with them.

The purpose of communication with spirit guides and teachers is human evolution. It is to keep us continually progressing with the general flow of the collective consciousness ... Spirit has also suggested that there’s no progression in the earth plane without the physical body. In other words, we human beings have chosen to focus or anchor ourselves in the earth plane so that we can progress spiritually. Our spirit guides and teachers evolve through their association with us and the experiences we undergo. Thus, these entities communicate with us for the same reason we communicate with one another—to learn and to grow.

These discarnate entities are human personalities. According to Spirit, we don’t occupy a physical body, we occupy a human personality. John once said, “The personality is the language through which the soul communicates in the earth plane.” Spirit beings utilize their personalities as teaching tools to communicate and establish rapport with us, and to reinforce our understanding that the human personality survives the physical transformation we call death.

In the East, the personality is equated with the human ego. Eastern schools of wisdom have traditionally considered the ego the source of all suffering and teach that if we want to put an end to our suffering and return to our original nature, our Buddha nature, or God-like nature, we must eliminate the ego. In the West, it is quite the opposite. We are conditioned from childhood that to survive in our competitive society, we must build a “healthy” ego, a strong ego. We’re taught that our suffering comes not from having an ego but from having too weak an ego. There is much emphasis put on whether we have a “good personality.”

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. To the degree that we’re physically incarnate, we are conditioned by our physical environment, so we certainly have to contend with that aspect of our nature. At the same time, it is essential that we get in touch with that deeper aspect of ourselves, which is our spirit. This means accepting ourselves fully in all three dimensions of ourselves—as mind, body, and spirit. Denying any aspect of this trinity interferes with our ability to be fully self-actualized, to live up to the potential of ourselves as spiritual beings. If we become too exclusively focused on the spirit, we lose sight of the practical. If we become too exclusively focused on the body, we can lapse into materialism. It is also possible to go too deep into the mind and lose ourselves in the intellect at the expense of both the body and the spirit. We have to balance these aspects of our threefold nature.

Because our personality, or our ego, is our vehicle for progressing in society, or as John says, “the language through which the soul communicates in the earth plane,” it is very important that it be balanced. ...

Our personality can also be a vehicle for our spiritual growth. In acknowledging our spiritual nature, and conceiving of ourselves as more than just mind and body, we expand our personality so that it can begin to serve our higher purpose. This is what our guides and teachers encourage through their communication with us. Rather than encouraging us to eradicate our ego, they inspire us to expand our perception of ourselves to include spiritual principles, as well as love and respect for ourselves and others.

I resonate with some of the author's thoughts.
