Having just discovered childpastlives.org, I decided to jump on board, which is something I don't normally do with forums. However, the subject of reincarnation is of such importance and interest, that I had to read several threads here from front to back. And, having done so, I'm confident to entrust you all with a small portion of my soul.

Although raised and educated as a Catholic, I was never completely comfortable with their rules and concepts, and grew to distrust much of what was said or written; until, finally, I left the last remnants of belief along with part of myself in a place berift of care, or respect for life.

Since then, I've been around death to such a degree, that I desperately needed an answer to the question of why so many young and talented young people had their lives cut short, and why so many of us were spared; only to come home and turn to drugs, alcohol, and anonymity; while casually watching another generation go to war.

Then, in 1980 there came an answer to this question, when deep in my soul was heard the word, "READ". So I did. I read it all from Ian Stevenson to Brian Weiss. And, after several years there finally seemed to be hope for justice, which wasn't available any where else. Karma! No information is lost! As above, so below! And, this lifetime is only a tiny ripple in the cosmos!

Yet, in spite of all that I've read or experienced, I couldn't convince my left brain that it was real. Perhaps, like many men, there is a weak connection in the synaps between the two brains, which inhibits our ability to reconcile the two "realities". Whatever the case, I need constant evidence of one kind or another that there is life after death, where all whom we love are happy, and that nothing we learn is ever lost.

It appears that Carol Bowman's books and "Past Life Forum" are the first long-lasting means of reinforcement for both sides of this brain.

At this early stage of membership, I doubt if I can offer anything of use to the members of this forum. However, I deeply trust that the members here may help to maintain the intuition that we are spirits inhabiting the material plane. Thank you all for everything you bring to the table.

God bless you, Carol Bowman, and everyone else here.

Welcome to the forum Nightrain1. You are in the right place to discuss such issues. I am sure you will have many thoughtful discussions here.

The 'why' question is one which has bothered humanity for millenia and will probably continue to do so. I doubt that anyone has 'the' definitive answer, although many, of course, claim to and many have made very good attempts at explanations. Organised religions, such as Catholicism have their place, but in my view, none of them have all the answers, although they all hold pieces of the puzzle. My approach is to try to work it out for myself and the more I look into it the more complex the problem.

Why is there suffering? Why do young people die? Why are people unhappy? Of course Karma is part of the answer, but the picture is a very complex one.

Reincarnation is very real. It seems perfectly obvious to me. The rest of nature and the universe goes in cycles. Why would human life be the only exception? Perfectly logical I would have thought, even if I did not have my own experiences and memories to support this understanding.

I am sure you will gain a lot by participating in these discussions.

Enjoy.

Dear Nightrain1,

I cannot tell you how much my soul was touched by your post. Thank you for posting your journey here and your interest in reincarnation. You have an excellent way with words. Almost poetic.

This forum has been running for twelve years and although we run a tight ship - it keeps it safe and clean from spam, trolls, and what would be considered by most - "junk."

I truly look forward to reading your posts.

I too was very moved by your post. Last year I lost my young son and my only sibling - a 46 year old brother. I- like you - need the constant encouragement of continuation of life and have consistently found it here. I read here frequently and know that I have lived before but I am experiencing too much grief at this point to research my past lives. I hope to be able to do that at some time.
I have the Catholic connection with you as well.

I wish you understanding and peace which is what I am seeking too.

It seems no matter how prepared we are for loss, our ability to "mend" our own grief is every bit as difficult as without such preparation. And, if we are able to somehow delay the several stages of grief, because we need to survive; it will catch up with us later at the most inappropriate moment.

There is no counsel or wisdom anywhere that can soften the blow. After years of reading on the subject I've amassed quite a collection of books and material, which has been given away to hopefully alleviate the suffering of friends. yet, I know that very little of that information was very helpful. The feeling of having our heart in our throat never goes away.

Even if we absolutely "know" that a loved one is in a better place, our sense of loss is still great. Even if we contemplate the vastness of our universe, our little corner of the world is nonetheless painful. And, if our belief and training includes an all-powerful and compassionate God, the pain and resentment is all the greater, and we end up placing all the blame on that all-controlling and, therefore, all responsible entity.

In spite of all this I still believe that contemplating the immense scale of the universe and seeking evidence is still very necessary. I wish you and everyone here all the peace and enlightenment possible through this website as well as through all the material that is now available out there.

Consider how fortunate we are to connect with so much knowledge and experience. At no other time in our known history have we had so much access to so many minds without restriction, interference or persecution. Nor, have we had so much time and freedom to pursue such knowledge and pass it on to others.

Hi John,

I took the liberty of moving your posts to a new thread in memories since it was so beautifully presented. Some may have missed your introduction in the community section. I hope it touches others who may have missed it and are searching.

Namaste,

Hi John,

Your thoughts are so very eloquently written. I've greatly enjoyed reading your posts and contributions to the forum.

Consider how fortunate we are to connect with so much knowledge and experience. At no other time in our known history have we had so much access to so many minds without restriction, interference or persecution. Nor, have we had so much time and freedom to pursue such knowledge and pass it on to others.
I couldn't agree more. We're very blessed to live in the time we do - and I personally feel very grateful to have been able to connect with others who share similar viewpoints, and also with those who share entirely different ones. There is something to be gained by everyone in the sharing of knowledge and experiences.

Whatever the case, I need constant evidence of one kind or another that there is life after death, where all whom we love are happy, and that nothing we learn is ever lost.
I'm curious - if the forum has helped you at all with this? Have you found some of what you're looking for?

From my own experiences and from those I've shared with others, I am certain of the existence of reincarnation and that there is life after death. I am certain that we are reunited with our loved ones through many lifetimes - for one reason only, which is love. For me, the discussions on the forum only further cemented my beliefs... :)

If you haven't read Jesse's story yet, you may find it to be well worth the read. There's also a discussion thread - and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Has this website helped to strengthen a belief in reincarnation?

Hi Aillish,

And thank you for your very kind comments. I also found your reference to Jessie's Story to be memory jogging, because my mother lost her three year-old first-born son, Mike, in 1943. I came along in 1947, and my mother reportedly believed that I was Michael coming back to her. She believed in such things, even though she was a devout Catholic. In fact, she reportedly had her own psychic experience, which saved my father's life.

I have no memories of either a past life, nor of my own first three years. Supposedly I couldn't talk at all until until the age of 3 or 4, when an operation removed an obstruction which affected my hearing. So, if I had any memory of that period, I would not have been able to express them.

However, I have never cared to play with a ball of any kind, and had an extreme fobiah of being hit in the face by any kind of ball, which almost totally eliminated sports from my life. But, I could play at war with the best of them. Everything was military, tactics, strategy and weapons; which led me to join the US Army in '66. Of course, I went to Vietnam, which is a whole other story. By the time I left the Army in 1968, I had deep and horrendous scars on the left side of my face. I was informed later that Michael was hit on the left side of his face by the car's headlight. He was chasing after a ball into the street.

I never put much stock into such coincidences until I read about synchronicity, NDE's, and children's memories of reincarnation. I've had nightmares of going down into the Channel in a Spitfire. But, never took it as anything but a nightmare. My objective, then, was to somehow investigate the morality of what happened in Vietnam. Of course there were other interests like raising a family, recreating the American War for Independence, and joining a national Veteran's Motorcycle Club.

But, along the way I managed to read Dr. Stevenson, Dr. Weiss and many others, while maintaining a very healthy skepticism. And then, I discovered this site.

Since my last post, I have read nearly every post on this site; and to finally answer your question whether the site has helped me with all this, I would say ABSOLUTELY! I am also extremely impressed with your credentials, Carol's and Debora's along with everyone who posts here. I feel that I am in a safe place, where I can honestly say that there is still a great deal of doubt.

Unfortunately, after experiencing the "truths" of organized religion and our government, I've been saddled with what you might refer to as a "Cartesian Complex". All I know for sure is that "I think - therefore, I am". But, if I were to choose a belief, it would involve reincarnation. It's the only concept where justice is at least possible.

I really like reading your posts Nightrain. Thanks. You seem like a very wise person. I hope you share more of your musings.

Yes! Great thread John. I've been following along for sometime now. I have many things in common with you and its refreshing to read your words. Synchronousity and the mysterious interaction of "the otherside" have always amazed me too.

Thanks for joining us!

It gives us hope too. I think that's why some people come here. Also they are looking for personal validations; others want proof.
