Hi there. I'm new here, but I had posted two or three times in the Memory Triggers thread before the website upgrade, and SeaAndSky, argonne1918, and ZeonChar had all kindly replied. Somehow during the upgrade, those posts were lost, so forgive me for reposting the same information here, but I am determined to try and figure this out.
I had posted that I have a memory of a very realistic dream that I had when I was five years old. To recap; I woke up in the night but wasn't awake, I was "stuck" in the dream. I heard gunshots and explosions, and I got up and ran from my room on one side of the house, through the living room, to my mom and dad's room, clear on the other side of the house. The living room had a large picture window. In the dream, I saw soldiers outside, and at least one helicopter. Shots were being fired, and I was ducking as I ran passed the window because I was sure I was going to be hit. I don't even remember getting to my mother's side, I just remember that horrifying feeling that I was going to be shot.
In one of my original posts I surmised maybe I had been my grandfather since he served in WWII. Someone pointed out in a reply that helicopters weren't widely used until the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After reading that reply I looked up Vietnam War era helicopters and found one exactly like the one in the dream, and had attempted to post a link to a picture (is that allowed?)
So now that I've caught you all up with what was posted before the website upgrade and then lost after, I have more information to add.
I talked to my mother about a cousin of my father's who had fought in the Vietnam War and died there. I found out that his name is the male version of my name (for example, Stephan and Stephanie, though not our names). Also of interest is that he wore glasses like me. (I was able to look him up online.) I also learned in my online search that he was 24 years old when he died, that he arrived on Januar 4, 1969, and died in action on January 28, 1969. It is interesting to note that I was born in November of 1969.
That's a tight timeline, but it does work. That would give me time to have been conceived and then born after he died. Doesn't make me him, but it's at least a lead. I very much want to get to the bottom of that dream. It was a living nightmare.
Thanks for reading!
