Past Life Memory - or maybe another explanation!

Hi Everyone, I’m glad that I found, and joined, this forum yesterday.

I don’t know if what I’m about to write is definitely a past life experience but I’d be grateful for your suggestions!

Here we go …

I was 3 years old when I had my dream, that’s now 61 years ago, way back in 1957, and the memory of that dream has never left me.
At the time of my dream I lived with my parents and younger brother in Scotland.
In the dream I had a handgun in my right hand.
I raised the handgun to the side of my head, and pointed it into my right ear, and pulled the trigger.
Then everything went black.
No pain, no sound, I was just aware of total blackness all around me.
Then I awoke. I was no longer in my bed but in the living room with my parents. I was crying.
My mother reassured me that I had just been sleep walking.
However, I never told her about the dream.

That was apparently the only time during my childhood that I went 'sleep walking'.
I know that because a few years ago (in the 1990s, when I was in my 40s), and before she passed away, when we were talking about different events over the years, my mother reminded me about that time when I went sleep walking, and we had a laugh about it.
However, I still never told her about the dream – and I wish I had.

I’ve never had that dream again (that I’m aware of) but it had such a profound effect on me that it’s been with me and always remembered for over 60 years. I think I must just have been too scared to tell my parents, or anyone else.

It’s maybe unrelated, but during my adulthood I’ve had problems with my right ear, that can’t be diagnosed (been to ENT). The ear blocks up, sometimes there’s an ache, then it returns to normal without any need for any medications, and had me wondering if any connection, psychologically or otherwise, with the ‘shooting’!

So there we are, a very short dream, it’s never knowingly recurred, but the memory of it has never left me, could it be something to do with a past life or just a childhood nightmare?

At three years old, that dream sounds a bit too weighty to put it down to an ordinary nightmare. To me it seems likely to indicate a real event in a past life.

Hi Amisfield,

Welcome to the board. I agree. It is hard to think that this is an ordinary dream. Given the other accompanying symptoms, I would say it probably is a PL memory. Have you ever had anything else come through?

Cordially,
S&S

No, nothing else has ever come through that I can remember.
Even today, if I dream about something, I'll sometimes remember I've had a dream but can't remember what it was about.
So it's really unusual for me that I can not only remember a dream from so long ago, but be reminded of it regularly - and the older I've got the frequency of remembering the dream has increased to almost every day.
Possibly not connected, but there was a recurring dream I kept having when I was still a child (but older than 3 I'm sure) whereby I was swimming underwater without any breathing apparatus. There was nothing scary about it, and it was very pleasant, and remember being disappointed when awakening.

Welcome to the forum Amisfield, your experiences are familiar to mine. My memory from when I was four or five (seventy-five years ago), and an aquatic memory sometime later (which, by the way, is outside the forum guidelines if it is non-human). So I agree that what you spoke of seems related to a pastlife memory. I would not think that a three-year old would create that combination of feeling/vision and aftermath as you described from experiences in that short of time. If you pursue answers or more information, there are threads here about regressions and meditation as well as other helpful thoughts on gaining more help.

Thank you for your welcome Ken, along with your comments. It certainly looks more and more like a Past Life Memory! For example putting a gun to the side of my head and pulling the trigger is not something that I would have seen on UK Television in 1957. Then the blackness afterwards and actually being aware of the total blackness as well. I’d really like to find out what happened, and as you mention there are threads on here that may help me.
I’ve certainly enjoyed my reading so far.

Hi Amisfield, welcome to the forum.
Reading your story, I tried to remember if I had any of those dreams in my childhood, but no recollection of any of them. It sounds plausible that a 3 year old gets a dream like that. Other small children start to speak about former lives at that same age. Within a few years this stops. You still remember your dream. I hope you’ll find what you are looking for.

I posted my story (above) over 5 years ago and reading it back tonight I’ve noticed I’ve omitted some info.

As well as the problem with my right ear (where I shot myself) I also have a birthmark on my neck, behind my right ear.

If I’m watching a program on tv where someone puts a gun to their right ear, my own right ear starts to tingle and feels as though it’s blocking up.

If I’m watching a program on tv where someone puts a gun into their mouth or under their chin, then that has no effect on me at all.

I definitely believe reincarnation is real but my biggest regret is not saying to my mother what I ‘dreamt’ about that night in 1957. Maybe I wasn’t meant to tell her, but I keep wondering whether I actually did say something to her as I was coming out of my sleep walk!
