Creepy thread, but really interesting..

I'm afraid of fire - and getting burned. No reason I can think of in this life....

Alaska, do you do french fries at home? I don't, I'm too afraid....

LOL no I definitely don't do french fries at home. I don't have a fryer or anything involving hot grease cooking. I don't even like to do fried chicken in a pan. I don't want the kids cooking when I'm not at home, even though they are responsible teenagers. Or toasters left on, or coffeepots, or dryers. LOL I know it's a little paranoid at times.

I have a funny one. Someone explain this because I can't. I HATE balloons popping. HATE them. I've heard people say that maybe it's because it would sound like shooting when a bunch of them pop, but gunshots don't bother me and neither do fireworks. It can sound like a whole battle is going on outside with fireworks and it doesn't bother me. If someone's firing a gun it doesn't bother me, bring in a 6 year old with a balloon in one hand and a pin in the other and I'm out of there.

I am afraid of parking garages, not the garages themselves, but I always keep my head down with eyes closed (when I am a passenger in a car) when we are entering - going up - the winding road in a parking garage, and I do the same when we leave and go down this winding road between concrete walls. And I absolutely am not able to park in such a parking garage when I am driving myself ! I am not afraid of of the winding roads through mountains though.

My Mom was always afraid of the water she said it wasn't the water but putting her head under. She never learned to swim as a kid on the farm. She did take swimming lessons when I was a teen, I recall how happy she was when she could put her face under for a few seconds, but then she quit going her fear got the better of her I guess. Strange thing is she drowned in her bath tube April 1st of this year.

Thank you I miss her but she was 76 and had Alzheimer’s, and now she is Happy again with my Dad. Till they come back: angel My Daughter went into labor the same day 5 weeks early her baby was born on the 2nd, I hope Mom didn't come back that fast she needed some time off.

Sorry to hear about your mother, MastiffMom, but I'm glad you take it so well.

Wednesday, I don't know why people would be afraid of balloons, but both my sisters are like you hating balloons like plague. They will avoid being in the same room with balloons in any way they can. :D

I wouldn't call it a fear, but occasionally I'll get irritated when I walk by people and they cough (intentionally) or touch their face, etc, basically as a reaction to my presence. This is a trait that I inherited from my mother also, who also reacts the same way. Of course, as you mature, you suppress it, but sometimes the inner reaction is the same.

MastiffMom, just wanted to send you my love.

And if it is your Mamma back so soon, I'm sure she got all the rest she needed in the meantime....

Congrats on your new grandson! may he have a happy path on this one!!
