Anyone have a favorite quote, saying, or a few song lyrics about past lives that they'd like to share?
I have quite a few..sometimes they are a real quote, others are just little sayings I've seen on an image online. I'll share a few here of mine, feel free to share yours.

“And only the enlightened can recall their former lives; for the rest of us, the memories of past existences are but glints of light, twinges of longing, passing shadows, disturbingly familiar, that are gone before they can be grasped, like the passage of that silver bird on Dhaulagiri.”
― Peter Matthiessen, The Snow Leopard

“Immortality like this is about as useful as sunscreen on a submarine.”
― Elizabeth Marx, All's Fair in Vanity's War

"I will wait, I am waiting. And I will love you with all the love I possess,
until this body is ash and I begin my search for you again."
-Tyler Knott Gregson

"The phrase 'Old Soul' is the closest many can come to describing those who
feel like they have seen and done it all before, who can see through the lies and illusions
of existence, and experience a tired longing to 'return home'."
-Aletheia Luna, Old Souls

I love this song. This song is about a lot of things, but it could easily be interpreted as a song about the immortality of the soul and, of course, the eternal gravity of love that holds it all together.

Get together, The Youngbloods

Love is but a song I sing
Fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

Some may come and some may go
People surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand.
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command.

Come on people now....

Thanks, Tang! Both for your current submission and for bringing this thread to my attention. I really liked this one:

"The phrase 'Old Soul' is the closest many can come to describing those who
feel like they have seen and done it all before, who can see through the lies and illusions
of existence, and experience a tired longing to 'return home'."
-Aletheia Luna, Old Souls

I agree with this, but don't think it always has much to do with the number of lives one has lived. For me this comes and goes, but stays longer and longer these days as youth and youthful delusions fade. There is a better place. We have much to do before we can stay there, including trying to make this place as much like "home" as we can--but it is really a recognition of the limitations of this existence and the longing for the other that defines the old soul. It is definitely not psychic powers or how many crystals we hang in our houses, though I don't doubt that these may also be an accompaniment at times.

Cordially,
S&S
