Recollections that effect a whole society??

Because skeptics have already made up their minds. There aren't too many honest skeptics because they don't attempt to explain, they just try and explain things away. Catering to their ideas of proof is pointless.
Skeptics or people who are afraid to think differently... For majority it's better to live comfortably in their known world order, than to accept something that would radically change their way of seeing this world. It took humanity centuries to accept that Earth is not flat and that Universe does not revolve around Earth... How long will it take humanity to start thinking about reincarnation as a natural process?

You have summed up the problem of proof, in a nutshell. There are some very convincing stories from children, and some of our members have build excellent bodies of evidence for their memories. Unfortunately, it's all anecdotal, and wouldn't stand up to the standards of scientific proof- not that I have any expertise in that. I agree that some essence of who we were carries over, from life to life. Do you remember the old experiment, where the researcher attempted to weigh a body the moment before, and the moment after death? The purpose was to determine the "weight" of the soul. Until the soul DNA test is devised, I am happy to accept anecdotal evidence, and the things my own instincts tell me as the truth.. The truths that other people see differ from mine. Okay! I think most of us are coming from a place of honesty, without fraudulent intent.

I know of that experiment; there was even a University professor in my country who did the same experiment and got to the same conclusion - that soul weighs 2g or something like that. I'm no scientist, that's for sure, but I was wondering if those "2g" were maybe something else - drop of muscles, withdrawal of blood (I know I might be saying stupidities right now, hehe).

Nevertheless, I would still like to know what would be found if they did DNA test between a living person and their possible pl body... I would gladly offer myself for such a research (and pay for it), but the graves of my possible pls are unknown, so... On the other hand, exhumation would most likely be a problem even if there were graves...

Agree 100%
I personally think that people have to reach a certain point in their development first. Too many are still at the survival and materialism stages. There probably are exceptions to this, but to me the exceptions prove the rule.

I'd like to see PLR techniques be more mainstream and accessible to everyone. Before, one had to be in an occult school, then guided hypnosis came later, then self-hypnosis. But not everyone can do this. There's improvement but there's room for more improvement.

Instead of telling people what to believe, teach them how to get the info for themselves. But that would put a lot of authors and authoritarians out of business.
Agree. But authors and authoritarians would be a minor problem compared with millions who would, all of a sudden, lose their shepherds, leaders, anyone who would tell them what to think, how to think, what to believe in, etc. Dostoyevsky was right when he said in "The Brothers Karamazov" ("The Grand Inquisitor") that people didn't know what to do with free will; it was too much of a burden for them, so they were happy to give their up free will to those who would guide them and tell them what to think and believe in. The same applies here.

The purpose of the forum is not only to provide support, but to help people get that information for themselves. I have read many, many reincarnation books, from Weiss to Newton, to Chopra, Wambach, and Bowman, and many others. Not one author has come across as authoritarian. Many of the books attempted to help the reader discover his own truth. Can you cite works on reincarnation that claim to have all the answers? I would like to hear what they say. Do you have ideas on techniques to empower people to discover their own past lives, other than the commonly used ones that you mentioned, KDB? We are all "strangers in a strange land", struggling to understand the language of the soul. I am inclined to think Chopra would agree.

I don't know if KDB was referring to the researchers of reincarnation exclusively or not, but I was being more general when mentioning authoritarians, mostly referring to religious leaders, as well as scientists and generally anyone who imposes himself/herself as such.

I confess - I don't see Deepak Chopra as either authoritarian, or a threat. I think there are real dangers in religious factions gaining political power. I see that as authoritarian, and a threat. I suppose it's a matter of perception. Blessings to you, and MataMari for the holiday season.

An interesting thread discussing the possibilities of why people believe they might have been Famous.

I simply think a lot of people use the lives of a famous person as a template in which they project their own experiences and feelings. Usually, the degree of nostalgia around those memories tells me enough how to interpret those claims.

I certainly agree that once famous people do reincarnate as well. I don't rule out that one day I'll identify a former life that has an entry on Wikipedia, haha, but I don't think such a life would impress me more than one of my other very anonymous lives in the past.

About fragmented souls and lives: I really don't know. I think it must be possible, why not? I am aware that my level of comprehension is limited and that 'reality' or 'truth' might be far more complicated than I can even imagine.

I do have experience with what I call a 'dedicated soul'. Someone with an identical frequency as myself but with all kinds of opposite experiences, views, and opinions. This is great and goes deep sometimes. We can swap perspective, merge our energies and experiences and retract again. We do this on a soul level but in the practical world as well. I don't think we are a fragmented soul, we are just souls that work together as a team to explore life as it is.
