Regencycore (Regency era inspired fashion)

So apparently there is this new show on Netflix called Bridgerton which takes place during the early 1800s (regency era). While I've never seen the show only heard of it, I have always for some very odd reason had an interest in the fashion of that era. Could be possible that I had a past life in that era, but not entirely sure. Personally I only like the fashion of that era, but would never want to go back in time to that era if it were possible. Anyway curious if there is anyone else who also likes the fashion of that era.

Of course it is possible. Personal likes or dislikes for certain eras, places or items can give you hints to possible past lives. Hints, no more, no less.
Do you like ALL fashion of that era or only specific clothing? Like only male of female fashion, only certain styles?
Do you also like the music, art, literature, architecture and/or technologies of that era? Do you like or dislike specific people of that era (some people will have influenced the life of everyone for the better or worse)? What about places (like London, Dublin, ...)?
Some people feel a longing to go back, but this isn't necessarily the case. If you didn't leave anything unfinished and had a "normal" life, you might not feel like going back and just like the clothing style you (or the people around you) once wore. Or you didn't have a life during that era at all, also possible. Or you had a life as a historian somewhat later. Maybe one day you will know from your heart.

It's more I only like the fashion. I especially like the way men looked back then. I don't know why but I find men were much more attractive back then. That isn't to say there aren't attractive men in this Era. Also women's fashion wasn't that bad back then either wouldn't mind incorporating some of the looks into my wardrobe, but with a modern twist, for a sweet girly look. And I do want to really visit London and Paris. Sadly I don't think I'll ever get the chance which kind of makes me depressed as I hate my country so much especially what it seems to be becoming these days.

Hi Galaxy,

I agree on the fashions, especially for ladies. However, I wouldn't put too much stock in the idea that men (overall) looked better back then. To begin with, the people you see in movies, etc. are chosen for their good looks to play romantic roles and dressed for the part. Also, any paintings from the era will have tended to be a bit "romanticized" as well, since painters who made their upper-crust portrait subjects look a bit better than normal were more likely to leave behind a pleased client than otherwise. That being said, it is possible that the upper classes being portrayed may have looked better than their more plebian peers due to better diet, etc. Also, with the males, being a gentleman generally required the mastery of (or at least some minimal level of training in) riding, dancing, shooting and fencing. Except for shooting, these are all strenuous activities that, IMO, lead to a balanced level of fitness in terms of balance/dexterity, coordination, musculature and endurance. Still, as remains true today, those physically gifted were likely to do better and do more of the foregoing activities than their less gifted peers. So, I am sure there were also plenty of clumsies and tubbies around in those days just like there are today.

Anyhow, just my 2 cents as they say.

Cordially,
S&S

PS--What country are you from?

For what it is worth there were some amazing qualities back then that are next to impossible to find in people these days though I'll never miss the inequality of that time. Western culture really has gone backwards after two world wars and social upheaval rarely seen outside the death throws of past empires like Rome or Persia.

@SeaAndSky I never really thought of that but you got a point since photography had yet to be invented back then all we got to rely on how people actually looked back then are paintings and paintings aren't as accurate as photographs. Also like I said there are some attractive guys in this Era, But from my personal experience though while some guys are nice to look at they usually aren't my type. At least thats how it is with the cute guys at my work. By the way I'm from the United States and sadly seem to be stuck here. But while going to another country might be nice I don't think it's quite the answer to my problem. Actually I think the answer might be to spend some time alone at my apartment working on that comic book I've been wanting to make.

@There and back again
While things might of been a little better back then things weren't perfect and besides back then they didn't have the technology we have today. That is why if I could I wouldn't want to go back in time even if the fashion was much better back then.

Hi Galaxy!

I had a past life in the early 1800’s, probably in England. I was a young man from the upper class. Unfortunately, I don’t know that much about this past life.

I pretty much like the fashion from that time period, both male and female fashion. I like it how fashion and hairstyles were inspired by ancient Greek and Roman fashion back then. It’s also very interesting to see how older people were still wearing the old fashion style from the previous century in the early 1800’s, while young people were wearing the new style. It was such a big change in a very short time.

I didn’t watch Bridgerton yet, and I don’t have Netflix at the moment, unfortunately. But I would like to take a look at this series one day. If you like the Regency era and the clothing, you will probably enjoy the Jane Austen novels and adaptations like “Pride and Prejudice” or “Sense and Sensibility”. Did you watch or read some of these?

I've never read any of Jane Austin's books but have kind of thought about it because of my interest in the Era, But to be honest I'm only interested in the fashion of the Era and nothing more. Like I said before I wouldn't want to go back to that Era if possible. However reading books from back then or historical fiction about that Era might bring back some memories if I did have a past life in that Era. But to be honest I kind of don't care to remember I guess because I have so many painful memories in this life of being bossed around and bullied growing up. I suppose that's why lately I've been more interested in my future then my past.
