Relationship Issues could be linked to past life

Good Evening All,

I am new to this forum. I have a question that has been bothering me for some time now. I have a man who has been in my life for the past 20yrs. He was a friend of my cousin's during college. We meet and began dating, to make a long story short we decided we shared a pregancy I was still in college so we decided to terminate the pregancy. For whatever reason we have maintained a friendship, even though he is no longer friends with my cousin. Neither of us has children, and that pregancy was the only one we each shared.

Whenever we begin to get close and it starts to look like it could develope into something long term, be begins to pull away. And I maynot hear from him for a few months, then he comes back. It dawned on me a about a year ago, that we may have shared several past lives together. And I am trying to figureout what was this past issue, and how we can resolve it now. Any assistance would be great.

Hello Lois and welcome to the forum.

A short answer would be: maybe, but that really does you no good in your search for answers. I am one of those people who believe that our relationships are often related to past lives. I think that we work our way through our lives in soul groups. A lot has been written about this subject, but again it's still a "maybe" kinda thing... nobody can know for sure. The answer will come in your own soul. It sounds to me like this person in your life could have some past life issues with you. How do you learn more about that? Well there are some good books out there. I just finished one I think you'd find very relevant it is called Twin Souls: a Guide to Finding Your True Spiritual Partner. There are many more out there but you gotta be very discerning... there are a lot of (IMO:rolleyes:) quack books on the topic too.

You will also find several similar stories here on this forum. One that comes to mind immediately is Tanguerra's. Read it when you have time, she makes many great observations about her special friend in this thread called My Friend X.

Good luck in your search, it is what brought most of us here. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you like. Where did you learn, or first think about reincarnation and how this could be a possibility in your own life?

Hello Lois, welcome to the forum :)

This could be a past life related issue like Tinkerman said, and he's already given you some great advice and links to read. It could also be that this friend of yours is simply scared of commitment? Even though he may love you dearly as a friend, perhaps he needs the freedom to do his own thing, which is all well and good for him, but it leaves you not knowing where your future lies with him. Have you tried sitting him down and talking to him about it? tell him you feel it's time to (and that you want to) move up a level with your relationship. He may give you a straight answer, or he may not know himself the reason why, only then I would look into the possibility of a past life issue.

You can always try things like a self regression, or past life therapy with a qualified regressionist. Anyone can do it, some people can do it straight away, while others need a bit of practice. Even if you don't find the answers that you are looking for, it's still harmless, it can be fun and it can help you to find out things about yourself that were never clear to you before.

Good luck

Chris :)

Thank you both Chris and Tinkerman, first for you advise and second for welcoming me to the forum. I began thinking there maybe a past life issue here some years ago. I believe in reincarnation and had read Dr. Weiss's book "Many Lives Many Lives, Many Master's. It wasn't instant but many years later I began to examine our relationship and thought his pattern kept repeating it's self. And it seemed to make no real sense.

For example our birthday's are a excatly a week apart. And for many years I just thought he didn't know what day it was, and when I brought it to his attention, he said to me it's not that I don't know I just don't wish you Happy Birthday. This happened about a month before my birthday, well the morning of my birthday he was the first one I heard from. And I know it may seem like nothing, however it's these little things that give me pause. How he goes to the edge, we do everything like we are in a relationship, but when it comes time to move beyond that line he pulls back and what is weird I always know when it's coming. And when I have brought it to his attention he just laughs it off. And the reason why I am starting to give this some space, is because we have no real reason to have stayed in touch. He was a friend of my cousin's in college.

We both have a facebook page, and he is not a friend of my cousin's in fact he has not spoken to him in many years. But he manages's to keep in contact with me. We have no mutural friend's. looking from the outside, we have nothing in common.

But there is something that keeps drawing us together, and that is when I began to think about a past life issue. I just remembered this. I don't know if he has dreamed about me, but I dream about him often. I dreamed about the new car he brought before I had seen it, down to the make/model and color. Whenever he is seeing someone he comes to me in my dream. And I don't understand why this is, and I have had dreams about him like this since we meet.

Hi Lois, and a warm welcome to the Forum.

Forgive me for expressing my personal concern whenever someone's life seems so intertwined with another in a kind of destiny. I know the longing one may have toward an undiscovered or suspected soul-mate. And, by soul-mate I don't necessarily mean it in a sexual way, of course, but in a way that you just know somebody and can finish their sentences.

My concern is for the time and concern one may invest in someone, who, for their own reasons, will self-destruct or turn away at the last minute. Such a relationship can cause you to put your own life purpose on hold, constantly waiting for that other person to come to terms with their purpose.

Perhaps, the most important lesson to be gained through one's belief in reincarnation is that one should be true, first, to one's own self. Certainly, service to others can significantly aid us in this endeavor, but not to the point that we sacrifice our soul on the altar of another soul's indecision.

Hi Nightrain1,

Thank you for welcoming me. I am glad I decided to join. I thank you for your concern, I get what you're saying by putting one's life on hold. By all means I have not done that at all. I have been fortunate that at 40 I purchased my own home out right, I have my own business and when I have met someone that I was interested in have dated. So in that respect I have not put anything on hold.

I just feel like when we have encountered each other (he is always in the background) it just feels like we have something that needs to be finished. Like I said I realized a few years ago, that this is a past life issue, and I know this is a forum about reincarnation, however, as a Native American, the notion of reincarnation, and dreams go together there is no separation we believe that dreams are an extension of the souls experience and that through dreams you have the ability to alter any thing you can experience in this realm.

For instance my grandmother was Native American, her father was a shaman, she was also clairvoyant and conducted readings, and when I was a kid I always thought they are absolute, however I have since learned that we have free will, and that everything is subject to change.

There seems to be a bigger picture here and I am just beginning to pay attention and am trying to connect the dots.

I do believe that relationship "problems" or the state of your romantic life can be affected by past lives. I've never been good in the dating scene and have had very few "real" relationships. For awhile now, I've felt there must be some "carry-over" effect. I've never been regressed or been to past life therapy, but unless you can tap into your past lives, you'd probably need someone else's help to "heal" the past and allow you to move forward.

Sometimes I even think that I am not supposed to get married or focus on relationships in this life. But, seeing as how I do want to find that special someone to share my life with, I am not so sure of that theory.

Then again, some people are just emotionally immature and have trouble opening up and being intimate. I've come across guys like that several times. I'm not speaking of your case, but it seems these days maturity is not something people focus on.
