Remembering/recognizing people from Past Lives (merged)

Hi Mimic,

It is not unusual what you experienced. I am sure you'll get lots of replies on here from people who have had similar experiences.

The only thing that bothers me is that some part of you felt apprehensive about her, as well as in love and delighted.

I had a similar experience in 1997. I knew on first sight that a person I had just met was from a past life. I actually even knew his p/l name. I had never had such an experience before. It felt almost like the 'Resurrection' to me, I was stunned.

The relationship I, very rapidly, got involved in, in this life, with this person was a fiasco. In fact he proved to be extremely violent and seriously assaulted me in the end.

When I eventually did a p/l regression I realized that he had attempted to murder me in a p/l, in which he had also been my lover.

My advice would be to go for a regression and see if you can identify her, and also figure out why you felt apprehensive. It may be nothing as horrible as my p/l experience. It could be she was your wife, whatever, and died p/l and left you heartbroken, or something of that sort. In which case it is wonderful you have re met her now.

Welcome Mimic,

I do believe there is a strong "knowing" between two individuals who have been together before. For me, that knowing is a feeling felt in the solar plexus; a resonance and vibration between us that is easily recognizable.

I believe true connections are felt between both individuals involved. I also believe these feelings can easily be mistaken, especially when only one party feels an attraction or familiarity to the other. Gregg Braden did some interesting work on this one-sided attraction. To summarize briefly, he discovered that it was not the person themselves that the individual was attracted to - but something the other person had - that they felt was lacking in themselves.

From what you've written it seems like you and this girl both felt a familiarity. :)

Enjoy the forum,

Aili

Thank you for the kind welcome. :)

I appreciate your insights and experience. Even though it should be the last thing I should be feeling, I have felt calmer since I returned from the exchange on the whole. With all this questioning, I feel better than I have in a long time.

I fear that the apprehension might relate to this lifetime. :o But I don't know. The thought that it could be carrying over is worrying.

Welcome to the forum Mimic! I too have experienced something similar. Years ago, I walked into a hotel lobby on business and there was this man at the counter checking in. It felt just like that "it's YOU!" and I felt so incredibly happy to see him. I walked over and said hello and we sat for hours in the lobby just talking. We got to know each other and have remained friends ever since, although he currently isn't living near me.

Interestingly in this life, he is a tall, handsome, blonde skier from Colorado. In a brief glimpse into a past life, I saw myself as a young girl on the prairie, looking up at this kind, fat old lady in a plain gray dress/apron. Quite the difference from a handsome skier this time around.

I wouldn't worry per se about the apprehension. Just take it as a sign that there may be more to learn about this person and connection. For every connection, I believe there are lessons to be learned, memories to be found, and possibly some emotional work to be done.

I've never had that "aha" moment where I instantly look at someone and know that I know them somehow. However, there are a few people in my life that I feel I've been connected to before.

One in particular is the relationship I had before I met my husband (we'll call him Dan). He and I met at work and felt so natural around each other that we became fast friends. We hung out every night, talked about deep subjects, had the same interests in just about everything. However, he wanted something more from the relationship and I, even though I loved him a lot, never felt that way about him. He was pretty upset and confused - and so was I. By all accounts we should have been together, but anytime we got close like that, I froze up and everything just felt wrong. I couldn't do it.

However, when Dan started seeing someone else, I felt very upset about it. I couldn't explain it. I didn't want to be with him, but I didn't want him to be with someone else, either. I felt like I was being cheated on and I was upset that someone would replace me in his heart.

Eventually, I had to tell myself to let it go. So I did. Dan and I still hung out, but it was never the same. A couple months later, I met my fabulous husband and with him, everything was JUST RIGHT. With him it was everything I was supposed to feel with falling in love.

I feel Dan and I were once really close in a past life. I don't know if we were ever romantically involved. If so, something must have happened because I did not feel those same feelings in this life. Sometimes I wonder if I was supposed to work something out with him. Now that we are no longer so close, I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to know.

Anyway, I didn't realize I was going to write a book! My apologies for such a long entry. :o

Ariannel,

Many other members have described situations similar to you. Connections with people we know from past lives are often complicated.

If you're interested in finding out about you and Dan in past lives, you might want to try meditation or regression. :)

Thanks Karoliina. I do want to try regression some day, but I don't trust myself enough to do it alone. I think I'd like to have a professional help me. :) Unfortunately, that means a trip to one of the big cities since there are no regression therapists in South Dakota that I've been able to find.

I'm in the same boat as you living in Iowa. :( It's possible you've had a past life romance with Dan, but it just wasn't meant to be this time. It may have been the plan all along to meet your current husband this time. Your Higher Self knew that, and that's why you couldn't take the next step with Dan.

Today I saw someone I haven't seen in nearly a year. She had been out of the country and we kind of lost touch. When I knew her before, we only knew each other for a short time, but it felt like we'd known each other forever. There was a very strong soul connection there. I didn't even know she was back, and I wasn't sure she was ever coming back. I ran into her today, and we just picked up where we left off. It was as if no time had passed. I don't know if we've shared a past life together, but I wouldn't be suprised.

I've wondered that myself. It does make me feel better if that was the case and it would certainly make sense. :)

I'm new to this forum, so I just thought I would say hello first:)

Reincarnation is something that has always fascinated me, and I have tried to do past life regressions on my own with various succes lol:) I did one when I was 19, and was perfectly fine before I started, but when I woke up again I had a full blown flu and fever. Couldn't explain it at all, because usually when you get sick like that it goes more gradually. After that I stayed away from doing anymore research about it, but now I'm back again:)

Firstly, I think that I and my roomate I have been friends with for many years now were sisters in a past life. And I think she was the older sister. Now I'm 1,5 years older than her. She is very protective of me, and we often hold hands when we are out walking, lol. It just comes very natural for us to do it. I talked to a psychic once and she mentioned us being sisters, and she even said that you used to hold hands a lot when you were out walking! I didn't tell her that we often do that in this life as well:)

There is also this guy I once liked in this life(I think he liked me too to a certain extent, but he eventually said no). I tried doing a regression on my own, because I really felt that we have met eachother in a past life. I saw myself being "given" to him. It looked a bit weird, because it reminded me of a wedding, and we were in a church(?) made of stone with extremely many people, and he had a crown or something on his head. I was wearing white, and there was this ceremony of some kind, and I had to do something first. Almost like I had to be "cleaned" first, almost as if it was a baptism.. I'm nor sure where and when this was, and I don't know if this has been a tradition somewhere either, as I have never seen that before. I think I felt very happy with it, it felt sacred in a way, but I'm not sure if he was as pleased with the arrangement as I was lol:) I'm not sure if this was a past life at all, but it was interesting at least:)

I have also met 2 people on a nother forum online, and we all feel that we have met eachother before.

Welcome to the forum, Seline. :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. Have you tried to do any reasearch about different wedding rituals and traditions after your lates regression? What era did it seem, and what ethnicity you seemed to be?

I hope you enjoy this forum.

Karoliina

Hi Seline and welcome.

I did a quick google of wedding traditions and cleansing ceremonies and came up with Vikings, Romans, the Khmer, Kashmir, Bali and India. Which of these feels right to you? Do you have any idea of the culture which might be involved here? What did the people look like? Were they European?

For instance, if it was Medieval Europe or England (which would fit with stone buildings), such a ceremony could be a remnant of Viking tradition, or it could be ancient Rome (also possible)? Bali also has stone buildings. You will know which one feels right.

Keep us posted if you have any further insights.

Aww, thanks for all the welcommings:)

Thanks for your reply and info about wedding rituals. I have been looking around a bit, googling that is ;) , and some parts seem to match with what I saw, and some parts doesn't. I have a feeling that it is in Europe, quite a long ago. I have been reading some links about viking wedding customs in Scandinavia, and something match, but not everything. Maybe I could try to look "back" one more time to see if I can extract anything more from what I saw, so I can know where and when it was. It might have been England in old times. I don't think we knew eachother very well before we got married, so I strongly believe it was arranged. But when standing there getting married, I got the feeling of being used for some higher purpose, and I'm not really sure if it is a marriage in the common sense, either. So it's a bit frustrating, and confusing! lol:) I think I had blonde hair, and that it was hanging down.

Do we really keep finding each other?

All my life I've been thinking I could be "someone else". I've never really been satisfied with where I was, what I was doing, and always looking for change. Other than my mother's home that I grew up in, I've never lived in one dwelling from more than 3 years tops. I think I can feel if a dwelling "likes" me or not. Is that weird? According to this forum, no it isn't. That's a relief.

The home I live in now, and have for 5 years, gives me good and bad vibes. It won't settle down and I won't move. Why? Well, I think it is a bonding with my true soul mate that I finally found 7 years ago and it is the home we moved into together. And it is almost as if "the home" choose us, not the other way around.

I will try to cut to the chase and explain why suddenly I am a true believer of reincarnation. Something I've always wondered about, dreamed about, thought of as a fantasy world. But when I line up the "facts" of my present life, I don't think I can deny reincarnation any longer.

The "tipping point" or the "WOW" moment came just a week ago. Out of the blue, a co-worker (one I don't generally come in contact with other than cake in the board room once a month) came to me and told me of a dream he had. He said I was in line to be reborn and my husband was fighting, fighting hard, to get in the line to be able to reconnect with me in the next life. He was being held back or put in another deminsion than where I was going and was calling for a higher power because "neither of us would be able to live fully if seperated to that degree". It scared me. And so I started searching for deeper info on reincarnation and on past lives. And wondering if a person or a set of people CAN choose instead of everything being "random".

Here are my life facts, as I see them or at least the basic ones I focus on now.

I have been in 3 (counting my current husband) serious relationships since the age of 16. The first had the last name Bruce, the second had the middle name Bruce, my current husband (and I totally feel soulmate) has the first name Bruce.

My daughter with my 2nd "middle name Bruce" had an imaginary friend from the time she could talk and that friend was named Sylvia. I had never know anyone named Sylvia, but lo and behold my soulmate has a neice the same age as daughter named (what else?) Sylvia and they are thick as thieves now. The first day my daughter met her, she announced she could finally be happy because she had finally found her sister after all these years. "All these years" coming from a 7 year old.

I believe it was no coincidence I was named for my g-g-grandmother whose husband never came home from the Civil War (though his name was not Bruce). I have always had a deep fascination with not plantation life, but "farm life" and my brother and I both shared a facination with the Civil War.

My brother passed 18 years ago. I always referred to him during his life and after as the one "that hung the moon" for me. He was my protector and my conscience. I have a son who I named after him and wouldn't ya know it, they have EXACTLY the same eyes, EXACTLY.

I guess it could all be made up in my head. I have been accused of "thinking too much" and trying to put puzzle pieces together with a hammer instead of a soft hand.

It's just that I listened to Coast 2 Coast about the little boy James being reincarnate of WWII pilot and then the "out of the blue" dream of my co-worker.

Is it possible? To CHOOSE? For my Bruce and I to always somehow find each other? For my daughter to have found her "long lost" sister? For my brother to continue to be my guardian angle through my son?

It scares me.... yet it is a relief.

It would help me alot to receive feedback and perhaps assurance so I can move on knowing I'm finally where I'm suppose to be.

Thank you.

Sweetie.

Hello Sweetie, and welcome to the forum. :)

You have an interesting story there, and many good questions.

There are different views among people, who believe in reincarnation, about choice. Many of us believe that yes, we get to choose some outlines for our different incarnations, which doesn't mean we wouldn't have free will when incarnate, or there wouldn't be accidents and other unexpected happenings taking place all the time in our lives.

I think the story about your daughter and Sylvia sounds very convincing. Most of us believe we truly have deep connections with other souls, and we get to meet them lifetime after lifetime, and have some kind of contact always - also in between lives.

It's also apparently pretty common to be reborn back to the same family and/or to people we love. So I would say it's possible your brother has come back to you - but I couldn't say for sure, of course. I would highly recommend Carol Bowman's book Return From Heaven, which focuses in the same family reincarnation cases.

I'm sure you can find a lot of answers to your questions from this forum, and people here are very friendly and eager to help. You could start, for example, by reading through our FAQ section.

I hope to hear more from you, and I hope you enjoy your time here.

Welcome sweetie.

You seemed to have made some connections that most people would probably ignore or dismiss as coinsidence. These are good questions. I don't know how much 'choice' we have reincarnating into the next life, a lot I hope. :D There is probably a wide range of opinion on that subject. Based on what I've read, nothing about the lives and circumstances we are born into is random. It seems to depend greatly on what the soul wants/needs to learn or experience. That's not to say that things don't get off track. ;) Souls coming back together or finding each other again seems to be very common.

My personal opinion is that things aren't coincidental. There could be a reason that this been brought to your attention now.

Welcome sweetie!

From what I have read over the years, it seems as though souls can and do choose to be born again into the same group repeatedly. I like to believe that we can be reborn with the same souls but only if we want to. I can imagine that I would like to try a life that is completely different and be with different souls now and again, so I hope it works like that.

I felt pretty much the same way until I realized I was longing for a past life. When I realized that, the unsettled feeling went away and I became more comfortable with where my life is now.

Do we meet the same souls??

I apologize if this has been posted before (probably has) but here goes...

Do we meet the same group of souls over and over again or it is possible that we are alone, moving from one life to another by ourselves? Is it possible that some souls reincarnate together while others are "loners"? Does karma intertwine us so deeply with others that it's not possible to get away from them?

I've heard and read alot about how relationships can change from roles from life to life...mother to child becomes husband to wife and then becomes victim and murderer, etc. But my question is for each "role" we experience, do we have to experience the reverse with that exact soul or can we experience it with totally new souls we've never met?

I've lived many, many lives from Ancient Egypt to the Holocaust and in only one previous life did I recognize a soul as someone I knew in my current life. Other than that, I've apparently never met my current family members, my husband, or my friends before. I've always been an independent person and very much a loner so it's no surprise to me not to recognize anyone.

It just seems to me at least that with the billions of souls out there, that its more likely we would meet souls we don't know than those we do. But then I guess that's where karma comes in and ties us to certain souls so we're not wandering around randomly??

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this?

In my opinion, I believe we are tied to other souls through our choices, actions and karma. I believe some of us are going through life together because of it and possibly because we choose to be with them.

I know that, in this life, I have known my current husband, younger son, sister and father from past lives, as well as a long-time friend who lives far away and my current boss. I don't have any memories (yet) of lives spent with my older son, ex-husband or mother. That doesn't mean I've never been with them before. I just can't remember it.

I think, as alaskanlaughter, that we are probably tied to certain souls, but I also think we meet new souls each lifetimes.

In my family I only have memories of my boyfriend, his mother and my father. Other than that I have met people during my life that I so instantly became friends with, infatuated with or disliked that I expect some past life baggage is at play. I've even met people on this forum that I've shared past lives with.

So even though I do think we meet some of the same souls again, I don't think that they are necessarily within your closest family :)

I've been searching the forum for similar threads from different point of views :)

Question about "family groups" and "friend groups"

Family ties - the "flip side"

From reading books and past life cases I have come to believe that there are no set rules for reincarnating with familiar souls, complete strangers or very close ones or soul mates. Just like we are all different, live, act, feel, believe differently it is the same for reincarnating for each of us.

We may reincarnate within our soul group, or this time around we may need to experience something different so we may reincarnate with only one, two or non of the souls we already know. We may visit a kindred soul only for a brief time, like a few minutes somewhere and that would be the only role in each other's life and we go on another path and may not see them until after death.

I have had the impression that at least one life me and my husband have been together, and had the same roles. Have remembered my mom as my sister in another life and my father-in-law. And have gotten the impression that my mom and mother-in-law had something going on between them in another life that have carried over and they have not spoken a word to each other in this life, at least not yet.

I don't like to use the words 'tied to' because, to me, it suggested that there is no choice in it, or that we are 'stuck' with them. I believe that the souls we are closest to are those that we to chose to be close to. I think it can vary from one life to the next and from one soul to the next. It may be true that some souls have larger groups than others, but I don't think anyone is going it completely alone. I don't remember many people in my current life showing up in the past, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. There are people in my life that I am closer to than my own family. It makes me wonder what role they played in previous lives.

This may be a new twist on this subject but I'll put it out there anyway.

I know that some of the people that I've met in this life I have in the other one I remember. They were negative people for me in that life and also in this life. I know that there's nothing I did to them then or now and I haven't been able to figure out why they're tied to me . So here's the new idea; if any of you have dealt with a stalker and/or a true blue psychopath you'll get what I'm talking about. Some kinds of people will attach themselves to someone even before they know them or without their knowledge or consent (think movie stars or popular figures) or others are out actively looking for a certain type of person (which varies depending on the type of psycho you got , it's absolutely no fault of the victim and doesn't mean there's a personality issue with the victim, they just remind the psycho of someone). Can these same stalkers go from lifetime to lifetime to plague someone. Is there something in the in between time to separate them from their target or do they just continue on seeking that same personality/energy? I know from experience in this life that trying to shake off a determined psycho is nearly impossible.

This theory might explain why some people end up the victim of abuse from the same person in different lives. It might not be their attachment to that personality but rather that personalities attachment to them.

How can I find my soul mate?

How can I find my soul mate first? I'm asking this so there won't be any problems with adultery. I mean I heard some people who cheated on their wives/husbands said that' because their boyfriend/girlfriend is their soul mate. How can I prevent those problems?

Hi Derek,

I think we would all like to know the answer to that question, but, unfortunately, the truth is, you can't just go out and find your soul mate. It's one of those things where if it's meant to be, then fate will find a way of bringing the two of you together, which does often happen.

As for the 'cheating' aspect, well, many people have the wrong perception that a soul mate is someone of the opposite sex with whom you would be romantically involved with. Actually, a soulmate can be your mother, father, brother, sister or friend. But they could also be a potential partner as well, whether or not you would cheat on an existing partner to be with them would depend on the type of person you are, whether you are faithful and loyal enough to stick by the person you are with ;)

Can you find you love from a past life in the present?

I was wondering if you can reconnect with a love from another life. The moment I meet my husband he felt faimlar like some how I found him again. Last night while in bed he said he had the strangest feeling like somehow we were married before. Could that even be possible or we both could be nuts,

Hi Kshutack! Welcome to the Forum!

I think most of us here firmly believe that people we knew in a past life may come back in the present life, and that the feeling of familiarity is quite common. In fact, it is said that we often return as part of a group. However, what is familiar to us is not always a good thing. I've warned my two sons, "Be careful of the attractions that you can't explain. You may just get what you wished for.".

I don't want to throw water on the excitement that you share with each other. I'm just saying that it can work both ways. I rather like the concept, because I'm with a lady, that I feel I've known for millenia. However, there were still some tough issues to be worked out.

Hi Kshutack32,

Welcome to the forum

Yes, it happens quite a lot. In fact it seems to be the norm to meet up with important people in our lives again; husbands, mothers, fathers, brothers, great friends, even former enemies.

There are many, many threads on this topic in the forum. It seems to be a fairly common experience. Some have happy stories about meeting again with loved ones, others are somewhat sadder. Sounds like you have one of the happy ones.

Here are just a few threads on this topic:

A police sergeant's memories

Finding someone from a past life

Strong emotion with a relative stranger

Welcome Kshutack32,

It seems to be widely accepted that souls reincarnate together in more than one lifetime. If you have ever met someone, and even though you were strangers prior to that moment, you seem to have an instant chemistry with them. It is possible that this connection is carrying over from a previous life. On the flip side of that, you may meet someone that you have an instant dislike or unease with. This too can stem from a past life.

Hello Kshutack.

Oh yes it happens. My girlfriend & I have been partners in most of our incarnations. :o

Sincerely,

Laurasia
