Remembering Your Past Life Name? (merged)

Hi Rowan,

Perhaps there was someone named Therese you were close to in a past life. Is there anyone that you left off the list, who could have possibly been Therese before? For me the name thing happens a little bit differently...like in the case of my friend Matthew. I really want to call him Cornelius for some reason, much to his chagrin, of course. :D With some people, I just get a name in my head and no matter how hard I try, I can't think of them as anything but that particular name.

Hey Ailish,

You know, I hadn't thought of that. There is actually an important person who I did leave off the list. I'm very important in her life, a mentor of sorts. I used to teach her religion. She's 12, and ever since she was 8 I've been her role model, sort of. And I FORGOT to list her name....I remembered this morning, when I saw her.

Could she be this Therese? I don't know, but it's a good theory. Still, it's amazing to me that I would get a name. I've never gotten names related to PL before.

Still, ever the skeptic, part of me wants to chalk it all up to exhaustion. See, this was on Saturday night, and that very morning I'd taken a very important test, so I'd barely slept two hours the night before.

But the thing is, it feels like I should pay attention to this...

Anyway, thanks for your idea.
And by the way,I really really like your avatar. It's beautiful! :)

Hiya Rowan, :D

Do you feel any special connection to this girl? Have you ever felt that she could have been with you in a previous life? If you feel that you should pay attention, and the name Therese is meant to be significant to you, then it probably is. Just because you've never gotten a name before doesn't mean you won't ;) If you feel no strong pull towards the name either way, maybe you should just write it down and put it aside until more information comes to you.

It's nice of you to take the time to mentor a younger child, that's something really special, for sure. Children need good role models and friends in their lives. The world needs more people like you  Oh, and shopping in NY with your best friend sounds like a lot of fun :D

Ailish, your posts always so uplifting. Always leave me thinking, or with a smile on my face.

And just now, when I really needed one.Thank you

I think your checking this out (if you can) a worthwhile idea. I have always had a "thing" about the name Trevor and never knew why. It was not until I learned who I was last life that I found out one of my sons was called Trevor.
Perhaps a regression would prove helpful? :)

names!

Hey everyone.
I have already described what I think might have been one of my past lives in rural england between the wars on this thread: http://www.childpastlives.org/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=10395
Here are news. I found out a little bit more 2 days ago.
I already knew (or thought) my name was Deborah. Other names came to me: that of Williams for my surname. and that of Larry Dunsford for my fiance. Though I keep the possibility of other names that sound alike (Harry, Doxford, Lunsford, Williamson, Willies, etc.) since I only heard the names and could have made a mistake.

More I see of the landscapes that build my memories more I am confirmed that it is in the UK. I said already I believed it to be somewhere in the Yorkshire county; which would make sense because it touches the east coast and I have always thought I lived closed to the ocean; though it could be not right.

I hope I'm on the right track to find out more..

Great news rimbaldienne!

Personally, I find remembering first names easy. It's the surnames that get me every time! :D Good luck in your search and please keep us posted! :D

Ailish :)

I agree with Ailish...I had no problems finding out my first names. It's the surnames I can't remember. If I could, I would be able to verify most of my past lives as I have a lot of details. It's as frustrating as trying to find that one little piece that would complete the puzzle.

Much luck on your ongoing search.

I agree. I found the name Deborah very quickly too.

As a first search I passed all my free time today checking on all internet's genealogy sites and such to see if I could find some people that would match my info. (Though I very well know that they are not all listed and that my info is not very clear)
But I found something:

Mary Deborah Williamson born 1903 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.

Lawrence (Larry could have been a nickname of course.) Dunsby born 1900 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.

The idea of Yorkshire was only a guess that came into my mind at some point, I forgot how. And I realised a while ago that, only from the clear memories I have, nothing points 1940. Since I lived in the country there wasn't anything very modern around me, I never saw a car or anything of the sort in the memories; so I checked between 1900 and 1940. Larry could have been sent at the very end of the great war.....how old did they have to be to be sent? 17 or 18, right? And I remember hearing a lot of young men lied about their age to be able to go fight in world war 1, not knowing what was really waiting for them.

But, again, nothing says it's them. It's only a match that could work. I'll have to check more into them. I'd have to find pictures of them, I know what we looked like.

This is a most interesting thread. I have never felt like I've had a different name (Shara)...my name seems to fit me and even though it is not very common, I couldn't picture myself being called any other name. My mother got it from a character in some story she read in a magazine. I can't really think of any names that call my attention. Although, one time while I was asleep I woke to the sound of the name "Kaelem." I don't know anyone with the name Kaelem, and I have never heard of that name in my life. I never gave it that much thought though. It sounds like a male name, and I am almost positive I wasn't a male in my last past life. Is there a way u can remember your past life name or names?? I would certainly love to find out. My name isn't even in most baby name books so I don't know what it means. I've searched high and low. Someone once said it was arabic, but Im not sure. Either way, I would love it if anyone had any suggestions on how u can remember ur past life name. If anyone has anymore stories on how they remembered their past name I would love to read about it.

Hiya ButterFly,

My name isn't even in most baby name books so I don't know what it means. I've searched high and low. Someone once said it was arabic, but Im not sure.

In most of the books I have seen "Shara" is listed as a diminutive of both Sharon and Sarah. It is Hebrew in origin -- and means "princess." :D You have a very pretty name, btw!

I suspect that one of my past-life names was Jane Grey.

It's not exactly that I "remember" it. All my life, the name Jane has "struck" me --- not necessarily attraction or repulsion, but evoking intense and indescribable emotions.

I wrote a novel in which the main character is a precocious heiress who publishes a story under the pen-name Jane Grey. After I finished the novel, I googled all the character-names in it (curiosity --- and concern over whether a real person would sue me :D ).

I discovered that Jane Grey was a minor British historical figure --- a queen of England for nine days, who was executed at the age of 16.

There are odd parallels between the story of Jane Grey and my novel:

My main character, Constance Fairchild, is very precocious at a young age. As a teenager, Jane Grey was one of the leading minds of 16th century Europe.

My character travels to Switzerland and Germany. Jane Grey corresponded with intellectuals in those regions (I imagined she always wanted to travel there).

Jane Grey was an early protestant and was executed at the order of the catholic Queen Mary. (Her religion was one reason she was placed on the throne). In an early version of my novel, Constance Fairchild gets into a shouting match with a catholic priest (for no apparent reason --- it's hate at first sight).

Jane Grey was executed at the age of 16 (for usurping the normal law of succession, even though others forced her to do it). Constance Fairchild is almost murdered at that age by people trying to seize her family's fortune. She escapes by a clever ruse.

Jane's parents were very extremely abusive (even by the standards of 16th century England). Constance's are distant and die early on in the novel.

The accounts of Jane's life seemed oddly familiar to me when I read them. And, in many ways, the novel is like a "new and improved" version of Jane's life.

The novel itself came to me in two concurrent dreams (!?) in which I was female. These were "epic" dreams in which years seem to pass (I've had four or five such dreams in my life).

The two dreams paralleled each other. One took place in 16th century England and its major events followed what is documented as Jane Grey's life (although I wasn't conscious of having that name in the dream --- I was very aware that it was the 16th century and England). The dream had other events, too, that don't contradict anything known about Jane Grey's life.

The other dream was set in the near, but indefinite future and formed the novel. I wasn't conscious of "my name" in that either, but picked the name Constance Fairchild for the novel's main character. (I had an aunt named Constance, in my "current life").

As a fellow writer, I find your story very intriguing. I'm aware of Lady Jane Grey's story, but have no idea why it's familiar. Probably from watching the History Channel or PBS over the years. Most of my poetry comes to me in flashes, which might well be dreams if I didn't suffer/enjoy sleep deprivation.

I have found this thread interesting. sorry for coming into it a bit late.

After reading some of the posts about past life names having a pattern, I decided to do some "research" into my own past life names.

Miriam - Hebrew form of Mary which means "Star of the sea"

Bessie - Diminuative of Elizabeth which is a Hebrew name meaning "Oath of God"

Karen - from the name "Catherine" meaning "Pure"

Anne - which means "God has favoured"

Most of the names I remember seem to have a kind of biblical theme : angel. and they are all female, which I suppose is a pattern of some sort:o

Have I really missed this one?

I had a vivid dream about lying unconscious on a hospital bed, floating over my body. At the foot of the bed stood a nurse. "Mr Martin," she said (or thought), "You will not live to see the next day." My immediate reaction was "how tactless of the nurse to utter such a thought!"

A dream that to me of of my immediate past death.

Christian name? The first time I heard the name "James" it clicked with me; I was six at the time. Band leader and self-professed Glen Miller reincarnation Ray Shields once told me that I'd been a US airman (that clicked!) and my PL name was "Gerald Fitzgerald". I've always believed my immediate PL began in Ireland in the 19-teens or early '20s.

"James Gerald Martin, USMC, later USAF" is my best guess.

I was a man in my last life and I strongly believe my name was Mark. My last name may have been Hendricks or something like that. I am more certain of the first name.

Hiya, Vicky! Nice to "see" you. :)

I would love to hear about that life if you feel comfortable sharing.

I've posted a little about that life before. I was a man and I had my two kids with me on some sort of subway type platform. My son got away from me and fell into the path of the oncoming subway or train. He was killed. I had a daughter named Elizabeth in that life. I almost checked this out with Ailish when we were in San Fran. but I chickened out.

I know my name was Mark and my son's name was Christopher. I'm really not sure about the last name though because I know a Mark Hendricks in this life. He is just an aquaintance.

There is always this voice in my head that answers questions that I don't speak but think. That is how I know my name was Mark, and my kids' names are Christopher and Elizabeth. I believe Elizabeth would still be alive. I think this took place in the 50's judging by the way I was dressed. I also think I may have killed myself from the guilt. I was born in 63.

Names

Has anyone had a random name that keeps popping up in their mind? Last year, I had a dream and the name Emeline has been stuck in my head ever since. More recently, the last name of Harris has been coming up. I did some research and Emeline was a popular name back in the late 1800's, a time period that i've always felt a strong connection to. The weird thing is that I always felt like I was a man during that time, so im not sure if Emeline Harris was a spouse maybe? Or if I was possibly Emeline back then?

Thoughts?

Welcome back azgrl :)

I've had one or two names pop up in my mind in the past, but never sure if those names belonged to me or not. Maybe Emeline was someone who was close to you in a past life, she could indeed have been a spouse, or a daughter perhaps?

Have you tried looking for her on some of the geneology websites? Do you have any idea where you were located during that lifetime where you felt you were a man?

I've thought about the same thing, checked around but was a little hard to do while at work haha...now that I have the net back I can search around some more when I have some time. I do believe that I lived in England around that period, and there were a few Emeline Harris's that i've found while doing research that lived in England during that time.

I often get names popping up in my mind. I think they can be your PL names or significant for some other reason. Emeline could very well have been someone close to you, or maybe you were Emeline in some other era, if you were a man at the end of the 1800's.

Hi azgrl25,

Interesting name!

I had a dream and the name Emeline....
Do you remember the context in which the name came up? Was there anything unusual about the dream compared to what you would consider to be "normal dreaming?"
It's one thing to have a name 'pop' in your head, or keep coming up in your life. But dreams can be very telling and sometimes reveal a past life identity.

kstornado... Nice. Made me remember too, I definitely relate.

Emma and Rose are two names that repeat and resound within me... sometimes together. Always on my mind.

In a recent memory/dream a woman pleaded with me, calling "Sunsai" or "Somsi". I couldn't find any meaning in my short search....other than a Japanese vegetable.

I honestly don't remember the dream at all, except that it was as if someone said the name loudly and it's been in my head ever since. It wasn't until recently the last name of Harris came up, again that was also in a dream that came about the same way. I just "know" that the name has some sort of meaning in relation to a previous lifetime, I just haven't quite figured out in what way yet. =)

Could the word have been Sensei? My friend's brother taught me the term - he lived in Japan for several years. It's a term used to denote respect in Japanese - especially when addressing a teacher or professional.

I also found this little passage referring to the Zen Buddhist usage of the word:

Zen Buddhism began the idea of understanding life. It suggests that when one understands life, one feels as if one is newly born. Sen means before and Sei means to be born. So sensei literally means a person who is born before. This birth is a spiritual, not physical birth. The original meaning of sensei is one who is spiritually born before others. If one sticks to the original meaning, only those who understand life should be called sensei and a sensei is behaving like a teacher 24 hours a day, even in his daily life.
Aili :D

Very interesting Aili! Thank you. My impression from the memory was that it was definitely oriental and during a feudal period. I hope to delve into it more when things calm down. Interestingly enough the memory came during a stay at a remote Buddhist retreat center and after a long day of deep meditation and prayer.

I was OBE and at the time and very sick. I was was laying down almost sleeping. I was savoring the moments. I loved the feeling of floating. As I was floating I was also aware of my chest hurting! I said to myself in the dream -- "I want to remember this feeling..I want to remember...I want to remember."

My body began to vibrate from the inside out and as I vibrated there seemed to be a tear in the fabric of "reality" in front of my eyes. What came into view was a gravestone. It was a gray stone with white speckles, carved imagery on each corner.

The stone was about three feet tall. I looked closely and began to see the name and date on the stone, ...lisia...ton...424 AD... then it began to blur. In my dream I said, "I need CLARITY I need to read this; it is important!" Just then like a lens from a camera that came into focus it was crystal clear. I was so excited in the dream..... I read it over and over again!

ELISIA K. EATON 424 AD - 429 AD

I began reading the inscription under her name and the date. "She was the Mascot of our ship ....she held our hearts....." (There was more, but I went back to the name and dates repeating them to myself over and over so I would not forget!)

It was so lucid I could see every detail of the engraving! I knew that her parents had sailing vessels and that she was very loved and well cared for. As I viewed the stone, I realized she was me. I had died at only 5 years old, of a chest infection.

By attempting to fly in my dream, I had shifted consciousness and REMEMBERED the feeling -- she/I had died due to this "feeling." I remembered me/her and was viewing the grave site. It felt like England along the coast somewhere; the weather was cool, foggy, and I sensed water nearby.
