This is an interesting one, though I can only get on board with the ending as a sabbatical rather than an abandonment. As the former, I think it is well deserved. As the latter I find it depressing and a bit of a let down.

PS--I also find the title given to it on Youtube to be misleading. It is more about him confronting his own emptiness and weaknesses, which leads to his death, an NDE and a new "lease on life". The golden feather, an apparent symbol of his new and transformed self-knowledge, he gets to keep.
