I am going to post this because so many members are curious about the concept of soul mates, and have suffered because of bad experiences.
My daughter is now 22 years old. I love her dearly, but she has a hard time connecting with people, in spite of intelligence, talent, and physical beauty. She was very isolated in high school. The perceived shallowness of her fellow students was something she found "off-putting". She shared a class with a boy who very much attracted her. His physical appearance wasn't one that you would think teen-age girls would be drawn to. They developed a friendship, which she tried to move to romance. He seemed to concur, but it turned out that he was gay, and hadn't come to terms with it yet. It ended very badly, and she was hurt. In college, she met a young man who's appearance was so similar to the first experience that she wouldn't go out with him. Eventually, she did, and the rest is history. They are deeply devoted to each other. She says he is the "soul mate" she was looking for in high school. She was fooled by the shared physical resemblance to the other boy. His Mom, who is also a PL believer, told me that he had been describing the girl he would love since he was 12, and it's my daughter in every particular. The point of this long post is that yes, we may recognize a soul mate by appearance, but it is possible to make "mistakes". Don't give up- the one you are looking for may be out there, and physically resemble the "bad" experiences! It may be why we have a physical "type" we are drawn to as clues for recognition.
