Standing by a Fence in a Past Life

I thought I describe what it was like to encounter someone I knew from a past life when I was 12 years old. I had spent years debating the issue with my parents on whether or not it was real. In sixth grade I moved to a new school and found myself standing next to a new classmate trying to figure why we both felt we knew each other when we had spontaneous recall of a past life together. It was like a 'video' with 'audio' was playing in our minds at the same time and we started describing what we each had sight of. He would describe a portion and then I would pick up and describe something else. The trees, the slope, the position of the sun and a bunch of wood stacked up in a neat line. He called it a 'fence.' I didn't know to call it a fence. He had lived in the country - and I hadn't. I was able to describe the 'brownish black' wood that looked like it had been eaten through by age and termites - but it didn't look like any fence I had ever seen in my lifetime. I knew 'instinctively and intuitively' that I had a 'vision' of a former incarnation. How I knew that - or how he knew that - we couldn't explain it in words to one another much less others who hadn't experienced that moment with us.

We had a long Q and A session afterwards trying to pinpoint the accuracy of our feeling it was 'absolutely' a past life memory. I didn't have the opportunity in the past to talk to someone my own age with a 'like mind' before. It was amazing to me to find the similarities and discrepancies in our verbal translation. I wanted to know why or how he could call the stack of wood a fence. it was stacked up in V type shape that criss crossed and overlapped. How did he know it wasn't just a stack of firewood set up that way to dry out - or keep dry? What I wanted to know was - did my young friend have access to the 'ancient mind' to know how the mind was 'thinking' and referred to it as a fence with the knowledge it had once walked with. My friend didn't know any more about the 'old mind' that he once walked with - than I did about the 'old mind' I had once walked with. I could 'hear' the words coming out of both mouths - but I had no way of interpreting them with accuracy. I had a 'feeling' I knew what the general conversation had been about - but no way to decipher it accurately in English. We tried to repeat the sentences outloud and he said, "It don't fit into my mouth like it once did.'

I don't know which one of us came up with the metaphorically understanding that it was like standing in a field in the dead and dark of night and having a lightening bolt strike crack to light up the field for a brief second. It was a familiar scene but viewed through a darkness that kept the details shrouded in a mystery to both our current minds and made the familiar seem abstract and distant. We had a brief few minutes with limited 'direct access' to a time in ancient history that was a part of our inner history with one another. I had the opportunity to test my parents theory.

They felt if I had 'access' to an ancient mind - I was supposed to have access to everything. Time, place, country, customs, culture, language - and the whole complete package. It had to filter through my own 12 year old mind and current 'stream of knowledge' from this lifetime. It was only after talking to my Grandfather that I learned that in the old 'days' - some people would construct fences much like the drawing I had drawn for him. It was only after talking to my Grandfather that I told my friend, "Your probably right. It probably as a fence we were standing next to when we had that chat back then."
.....continued

continued.....

There was a type of 'intuitive' knowledge (or knowing) that came that sort of episode and it was always hard for me or the other person to describe, define or explain the 'intuition' process that gave you 'absolute' knowing of various factors while restricting you from other information and knowledge. If anyone would have been standing at a distance watching us talk this through and then walked over and asked us if we 'thought' or "believed" we had lived in the past - we would have argued with them. "We don't think or believe. We know."

It was always hard to describe that intuitive factor and the restrictions it came with to others who didn't get to stand in the light of that lightening bolt when it flashed in the minds of the ones I found myself standing next to sharing a spontaneous memory with.

So did you boys stay friends? Do you know why this moment was significant enough to recall?

Was it a fence like this?

or more like this?

My family moved away to a new city when I was 14. I lost track of him during that move. I think I hurt his feeling because of the mystical insight I had at the time. I was looking for his 'twin' who was very significant to me. I though of him as a 'prelude' to the one I was meant to have a significant relationship with.

The fence was more like the one above. At the time - I was thinking 'army' or 'war' and thought it was some sort of barricade soldiers could hide behind at one point - and have openings to shoot out at the enemy from an angle on both sides. That was inspired by the fact that I had the 'intuitive' understanding that we had 'weapons' in our hands. I didn't know why two people would be carrying 'weapons' if it wasn't for a war. Of course, in ancient times - it would have probably been used for protection against 'wildlife.' I usually didn't make assumptions like that - but decided to 'go with it' since he was there to 'ground me' back into the reality of the vision.

I started 'guessing' at the 'missing files' and wondering how we had died. I was never given insight to that answer and thought talking about it might trigger recall in either of us. He thought it was important not to play the 'guessing' game or the 'guesses' would get mixed in with the facts later on in life - which proved to be true.

As far as why this particular moment in the past life - my memory is it was like a 'favorite photograph' full of emotions that bound us together. My memory is that the past life persona's sort of acknowledged the 'significance' of a long friendship. Words that hadn't been easy to express prior to that moment. I recall my friend saying "it was a moment that touched our hearts unlike anything before that day - or after." The most I recall of what we figured out together was that one of us said something about 'being like brothers' to one another. The impression I got was - that one of us wasn't long for the world and sort of knew 'inwardly' that our time was running short.....so...it was like final words before leaving the world for good. That is what made me 'guess' at a war. I remember telling him,

"I didn't know but I knew....just like now." I was referencing the fact that we had been looking for one another our whole lives - and didn't even know it. It was our destiny to met and we both recognized this in our initial meeting. I know there were (spiritual) promises in place that carried over to this lifetime. Karma for a lack of a better word.

Oh yeah, it wasn't straight like this photograph. It sloped around the slope of a small hill. That was another reason why I thought a 'barricade' to protect the higher ground of the hill. There was nothing in the 'vision' to give the impression we had anything to do with the military or that it was a military fortification. It was a puzzle to my young mind exactly what it was and why we were standing beside it the way we were.

The reason this memory is so significant to me now - is the 'false impression' my family and others gave me. When I told them I had recall of a 'past life' they assumed I was supposed to know all the details.

What size pants did you wear?

What size shoes did you wear?

What was your Mother and Father's name?

What was your given name?

How old were you in this memory?

How big was your family?

Where did you live?

What did you eat?

They thought these were important details I should of had access to if had the slightest memory at all. They made me feel bad or that I wasn't doing something right because I didn't have access to this sort of information. I learned that the important details were not extracted in a mortal way as much as a 'spiritual way' when I found myself standing next to others struggling with the same process I was as a young child.

Yes, it's hard for some to understand how fleeting, yet how 'deep' these memories can be. You can't blame them though. This stuff is a bit of a mystery to a lot of people.

I can understand why you would be puzzled by that fence. It could just look like a 'pile of logs' or a barricade if you didn't know what it was.

farm-hatching-fence-hs-web1.jpg

It seems these were common in the early days in the USA when there was still plenty of wood, ready to hand. So, this will give you a rough date if you're interested in things like that. Although you say you feel it was very long ago? There may have been other places in Europe where this type of fence was built if they had plenty of wood (as they did once upon a time).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-rail_fence

...A split-rail fence or log fence (also known as a zigzag fence, worm fence or snake fence historically due to its meandering layout) is a type of fence constructed out of timber logs, usually split lengthwise into rails and typically used for agricultural or decorative fencing. Such fences require much more timber than other types of fences, and so are generally only common in areas where wood is abundant. However, they are very simple in their construction, and can be assembled with few tools even on hard or rocky ground. They also can be built without using any nails or other hardware; such hardware was often scarce in frontier areas. They are particularly popular in very rocky areas where post hole digging is almost impossible. They can even be partially or wholly disassembled if the fence needs to be moved or the wood becomes more useful for other purposes. During the American Civil War, these split rail fences were a major source of firewood for both the Union and Confederate armies..
However, if there was a battle, I can see how these fences would indeed make a perfectly good fortification for a hill. Do you know why you were holding weapons? Maybe you were out hunting or something? That would have been a pretty normal thing for boys to do in those days.

..being like brothers' to one another. The impression I got was - that one of us wasn't long for the world and sort of knew 'inwardly' that our time was running short.....so...it was like final words before leaving the world for good. That is what made me 'guess' at a war. I remember telling him..
Or, maybe you were indeed in the civil war (or some other war?) and your intuition was perfectly correct (you were both right)? Maybe you had better 'insight' than you thought with your 'guesses'?

During the American Civil War, these split rail fences were a major source of firewood for both the Union and Confederate armies..
Thanks for sharing this, because that was my first impression during the vision. He thought of it as a fence and I argued for a pile of firewood. We could have both been right. Just looking at the same thing from different angles.

We were not 'boys' in the past life. We were grown men and would have been in our prime for 'fighting age.' My impression came that we had 'served' in some sort of military conflict in the past - but there was nothing in the vision to confirm this. It was just 'intuitive feelings' I was wrestling with and trying to match up to his own 'intuitive feelings.' We both agreed that a part of our history (in that past life) was some sort of military conflict we had served in together. We both agreed - we were out of harm's way as far as a military enemy being concerned.

When I spoke to my Grandfather about the need for a 'weapon' on some sort of frontier - he spoke about the reasons a person would carry a weapon away from their dwelling and depending on the time and place - he felt 'wild critters' would be the number one reason to carry a weapon with you - if it was during 'peace time.' I described to my Grandpa how that 'weapon' felt like a part of me - and if I had been without it - I would have felt more comfortable being totally 'naked.' I think there was a carry over 'feeling' from the vision - and looking down and seeing my hands 'without' a weapon in them at the age of 12 with this vision so close to my mind - gave me a very uneasy feeling. I was trying to track and trace why. My Grandfather was at an age when he told me a story of how he crossed the 'Red River' in a covered wagon - and if a stranger approached you - you both had 'guns' in your hands. It was just 'standard operating procedure' at one point in the history of our land. I didn't know this at the age of 12, but that vision made me feel a 'little naked' afterwards because I didn't have a weapon on me in case any type of trouble came my way. In the vision itself - there wasn't a vivid visual of the weapon, so neither of us was able to really describe what was in the hands but we both knew it to be a weapon of some kind.

But in the past life - we were not boys. We were grown men.

I can recall talking to my Grandfather - but wouldn't talk to my Dad about it. When I spoke to my Grandfather - I just talked like it was a 'strange dream' I had and didn't mention reincarnation. My family had expressed their displeasure of having to deal with that subject too directly. I know that when I spoke to my Grandfather - I buffered the reality of it being a 'past life memory' with their take on it having to be something 'influenced' by something I read or watched on TV. I just played into that idea for the sake of my Grandfather's disbelief in reincarnation.

A year later, the theme in my family changed when I told a 'born again Christian' about a past life memory and he did research and confirmed the many details I told him. He became a believer in reincarnation afterwards and contacted my family to share his insights and how his belief system got turned upside down. For a short time at the age of 13, it became popular for me to tell certain stories related to the past life memory I had shared with that Christian that became a believer in past lives. Him and my Grandfather related to one another because my Grandfather was big on Christianity. I think he told me something along the lines that "Christians don't change their minds on such matters without the hand of God being involved."

It was only then that I admitted to my Grandpa that the story about the 'fence' wasn't a dream as much as it was a past life recall. It took me another year to tell them that I hadn't been alone - and that a classmate had the same memory I did. They were upset that I didn't share that detail with them. I told them,

"One day I can talk to you about it - the next I can't. Then the next week your all asking me questions like it is the thing to do. I think you all need to wear a sign that says 'open' or 'closed' so I know when I can or can't talk about these things with you."

I was very reluctant to talk about it for a period in time during childhood because of all the controversy it seemed to stir up. I recall sitting at a table with an Uncle I didn't know all that well. He asked me some deep profound question and I looked at him and said, "You expect me to know the answer to that and give it to you? Why?" His response was, "If you claim to know reincarnation enough to get people to change their mind about Christian beliefs, you better get ready for a lot of questions like that." Somehow - I was supposed to have answers to theological questions that have puzzled mankind for centuries - plus my shoe size in a past life.

The civil war era was something my Grandfather suggested, but at the time I really didn't care one way or another. That sort of detail didn't seem important to me at the time and sort of was lost in the shadow the 'intuitive information' that came to light during that episode with the young classmate had cast upon my young mind.

Hee hee! Yes. This stuff makes a lot of people uncomfortable. It's understandable. People with fixed beliefs find it very difficult to get their heads around it. I'm not surprised your family was pretty put out by your 'shenanigans'. :)

I learned to keep this sort of stuff to myself as a child and I still only talk about it with a very few people and even they don't usually like it.

Could it have been during the civil war do you think? Your intuition has been pretty good so far. I think you can trust it. You said something about speaking another language earlier? Or maybe it was the accent or a dialect perhaps that felt funny in your mouth? In those days, there were still new immigrant Germans and French and all sorts who would still use bits of their own languages.

Did you ever meet the twin in the end?

In this moment and back in 1972 when this happened, I actually had no idea when or where it was in the past. As I said, my young friend seemed privy to the idea of 'not playing' the guessing game or it was going to wreck havoc on my mind in the future. A part of my own mind thought the reason this happened was so I could get someone to 'teach me' to extract all the details needed to satisfy my parents curiosity. To me, it wasn't the details of the conflict as much as it was the bonding that occurred because of the conflict. A solider in a civil war uniform, a War World II uniform or the revolutionary war are problem going to have the same issues and emotional attachments regardless of the name of the war they fought in.

I wrote a metaphor recently about a 'kangaroo' and a baby kangaroo in it's pouch. He hadn't had the spiritual experiences I had in the past so he wasn't familiar with the 'echo' sound that came with the vision. I didn't mention this to him during our 'description' process and was overwhelmed when he mentioned the 'echo' language. When my 'mind switched' gears in spiritual moments - I (the mortal part of me) would revert to the 'baby' in the pouch of a kangaroo. I called it many things = including the 'flip flop.' When he asked what that 'echo' sound was about - I told him,

"Your kangaroo was either talking to my kangaroo - or - the kangaroo was talking to you. If you is trying to fit the words of the kangaroo into your mouth --- trust me -- it ain't never going to happen."

The primary 'audio' during this vision was the 'kangaroo' language and the secondary was the language coming from the mortal mouths of the two individuals in the past. My memory was - neither were comprehensible in English. My friend felt he would have had a better hand at interpreting the mortal words - if the echo hadn't been chiming in his ear at the same time. In all honesty, there were not that many 'mortal words' spoken between the past life individuals. It was mostly communicated with silence and looks in the eye.

I think that is one of the questions I asked my Grandpa. "Did they speak English during the civil war? Because the words I heard where nothing like any English I ever heard since I been speaking on it." My Grandfather did mention relatives he had known from his own childhood who were fresh off the boat from what he called the 'old country' and how he couldn't understand a word they said - even when they tried to speak English.

Growing up - I had sight of 'three primary' past lives. I had sight, sound and details unlike anything shown to me in the past life recall with the friend in 1972. My attitude was, oh brother, not another one. Where did this one come from. At that time, I was still having regular 'NDE's' due to my medical crisis. If I didn't fully comprehend it here - I would have asked questions about it during one of my NDE's. For what ever reason, this particular 'past life' wasn't a primary focus and I didn't care to 'stir'' up the mud any and cloud up the visions I had of the three primary past lives I had spent my entire childhood focusing on. If all I 'needed' to recall was standing by that fence - that is all I cared to. I felt I had too much on my plate as it was.

When I look back, I have to look for 'verbal bread crumbs.' I was warned it would be hard to 'grasp' spiritual (or unconscious memories) relating to revelations of the soul. My young 12 year old soulmate of a friend thought our meeting was the most important thing in his life. I didn't share the same view and didn't know how to tell him that without hurting his feelings. What I do recall telling him about his 'twin' was - 'the one whom I died with in the past - when we were holding on to one another."
Fast forward to 1989 and I met another soul mate past life associated and I told him, "I met your twin when I was a kid and told him I was on my way to find you just like I had found him....and here you are." His spiritual twin (according to those two memories is the one I refer to on another thread as "My Funny Valentine." From the age of 8 on... I knew this was the most important 'past life meeting' of my lifetime. I knew this but the mind of my young friend didn't and may be a part of the reason why I swept the whole thing under the rug as fast as possible. He didn't understand anything I tried to tell him about 'twin ship of the soul.' To my mind, they were one and the same - yet his mind was focused on the mortal realm and his individuality. To me, he was half of the equation that fit together like hand in glove. The concept of the 'twin' became a 'sore subject' for him so I stopped talking about the mystical elements to spare him his feelings on the matter and in the process - we stopped talking about the past life recall.

In hindsight now - I can see the hidden theme in the undertow and the prelude meeting him in 1972 was to meeting his twin in 1989. I felt I was more in tune with the kangaroo language I was constantly finding myself sitting in the pouch of. I don't know that I really understood it any more than my 12 year old friend did, but I was constantly being bombarded with it as a young child for the sake of preparation of that future meeting.

Ah, I see. I see too how confusing this would all have been for a young kid to be dealing with without much in the way of guidance or advice (apart from 'spiritual' guidance of course).

I am remembering various parts of our conversations with one another at the age of 12. He wanted to know why I referred to what many called the soul - as a kangaroo. I told him,

"Because the dang thing keeps hopping from one body to the next. I can't keep up with all the dang bodies it has done hopped into and out of. I wish it would slow down some so my mind can catch up to what it knows about it. I feel I am just along for the dang ride and can't control that kangaroo one way or another. I imagine myself holding onto that pouch with my eyes wide open and the wind blowing the hair back from my face all the while I am clutching that pouch for dear life with my hands white at the knuckles wondering what the heck kind of mess that kangaroo of mine is going to hop into next and drag me along with it. That kangaroo of mine has taken me on some wild rides though this world and each time I feel I am clinching my teeth holding on to the skin of my chinny chin chin in an effort to keep up with it's pace."

When I as 12 - that was my animation or metaphor of the soul and reincarnation.

Sincerely,

DKing

I can recall an incident in 1982 that really didn't make sense to me when it happened. I was talking to someone about 'mystical matters' and I said something. He looked at me wild eyed and white knuckled like and asked,

"How did you know that? No one knows about that. HOW did you know about it?

I told him,

"Your kangaroo told me. Your invisible kangaroo. The one that is with you night and day and is never far from your side."

When I told him that, he looked like he was about to bust open at the seams and come apart. I shook my head and said,

"Just a lucky guess - I guess. Calm down first."

I had asked him prior if he minded if I spoke directly to his 'invisible sidekick' which was my way of referencing the soul as a young adult. The idea I was actually speaking to an invisible kangaroo standing next to him didn't sit right in his mind what so ever. I finally said,

"What ever part of you - you think God had a hand in creating boy. Not the part of you on the outside that the world had a hand in creating. What ever you call that part of you inside. That is what just shared that secret with me. You told me I could talk to it on your behalf. Why you looking like your fixing to have a calf for it?"

LOL

I never called it (the soul) a kangaroo after that day. Some people just don't do well with some metaphors. I didn't have a clear memory of how, when or where I came to call the 'soul' a kangaroo, so I really couldn't explain it to his mind. He didn't believe in reincarnation so - I don't think he would have appreciated the metaphor anyway.

I have been trying to dust off this memory and get to the heart of it. It has been many years since I spoke about it or thought about it. I can recall our wading though the pool of our shared collected memory trying to get to the mystery surrounding the meeting that took place by the fence. I know for myself, I was testing him to see if he was really seeing, feeling and hearing the same as I was - or - if he was just trying to impress me and go along with what I was saying. We were testing each other in that regard. We would scrap the elements would couldn't both agree upon 100%. (That is when he warned about the guessing game.) I can recall him saying, "We should just stick with what we know of it and leave the guesses out of it.)

What we agreed upon was - we had been in a 'war' or 'conflict' in the past and served together in combat. The meeting was sort of a private memorial service in remembrance of those who had fallen on both sides of the conflict. This we both agreed up on and how important that was for the sake of both minds at that time. We both got the impression that this was the first time we had seen each other for a length of time. The words I said to him was,

"It was like meeting you today. Even though we weren't together in person - I felt you had been walking with my by my side the whole time because you were never far from my thoughts. It was like when we met by that fence - time had stood still and it was just like yesterday since I saw you last even though I have the impression a lot of time had passed since we had actually laid eyes on one another."

He is the one who said,

"I feel like we were trying to cope with the unspeakable horrors of war. Only you knew what history was hidden inside of me and only I knew what history was hidden inside of you. We had survived, but at what cost?"

It was like we were searching for the answer of whether or not the sacrifices of those lost in the battle were worth our survival and whether or not we had done good in the aftermath. Whether or not we had taken care of our families and been good men. Had we let those who had died, down by turning outlaw or wasting our lives on something our fallen comrades would have been ashamed of. It was important (standing by that fence) to look in each other's eyes and see a sense of honor and dignity starring back at one another.

There were very few mortal (or human words) but the understanding between the two men was deep and profound. Something of a 'divine spark' was lit between the two eyes. It was a God inspired moment and many things were laid to rest and both of them found peace within one another. Almost as if they had held that back to the last minute - to suffer many years hoping and wishing for that 'understanding' to be there in the end. The short version he and I shared was, that we had fought in a war, survived and felt guilty about surviving when so many others had died. That day at the fence was about letting go of the guilt and walking in peace with the history in our past. I told him,

"It was like I saw God shinning through your eyes and it blew me away back then. Like a man walking through a long, hot desert thirsty for some water. I needed that sight shining back at me more than I needed anything else in this world."

We (as two men in the past) both felt we had found God though one another unlike anything we had in the past. We had sworn an oath to one another NOT to forget what the other had done for the sake of his soul and heart that day. This moment touched my young 12 year old friend far more profoundly than it did me - because - I was used to NDE's. I appreciated the feeling between us but didn't grasp the nature of it like my young friend did.

Sincerely,

I know exactly what you mean by this... having seen my share (more than) of war and various other trials and tribulations. Many people would not, but be assured I do.

Looking back in hindsight, I am curious now why we didn't explore the 'secrets' hidden away after being exposed to the small episode we shared together. Especially being alone all those years with no one to talk to about this sort of thing. There are two things that happened that I feel influenced me. Unlike me, he talked to his parents about the episode we shared. I refused to talk to my parents about it and seek their advise. I felt they were tired of it and they had told me to work the issues out for myself. His parents were Church going Christians. I later met them in person and spoke to them about my NDE's. They were not against the idea of reincarnation and where more mystically inclined than fundamental. They absolutely and totally believed both of us. During the first week of knowing one another - him or his family didn't know about my NDE's. He was reluctant to pursue any more information than had already been given.

At that age - I was an 'expert' at loopholes. I knew from my NDE's there was a spiritual protocol that had to be followed along many lines. When it came to reincarnation - I could go to the other side and explore all aspects of past lives, but I couldn't bring it back with me. The 'loophole' I found was - if asked for information on my behalf and I asked for information on his behalf - I could get 'divine permission' to bring information back from my NDE's. I was having trouble explaining my medical condition and my NDE's. He couldn't wrap his mind around it. He didn't like the idea of testing God. I had no idea what the heck that meant.

While he was thinking about it - it happened again within a week of my episode with him. I met another classmate (who had been absent the first week due to an illness in the family) when he returned to school.

I knew without a doubt - there were secrets between us pertaining to a 'past life.' This time around, I wanted to approach it with my 'eyes wide' open and NOT be taken by surprise with the 'recall episode.' Prior to this age - I had virtually no control over 'recall' episodes what so ever. It was like a 'wild horse' I was trying to tame and put reins upon.

So, I sort of lost interest in pursuing any additional information with the first classmate and focused my undivided attention on the second classmate for a 'slow and gradual' approach to take control of when and how that 'vision and memory' between us occurred. The first classmate didn't know me well enough to know - the last thing you would want to do with me during that time - is bring religion into it. Rightfully so, he wanted to deal with the issues through his own spiritual faith. I wanted to see if the other classmate would be more at league with my own mind and want to know all he could about any past we may had shared.

So that is how the issue sort of got swept under the carpet. It was like lightening was about to strike twice within a week and I wanted to prepare myself for that second lightening strike.

Sincerely,

Haha, this is too cute, but it struck a chord with me. Im getting the feeling that there are souls like this, hop from one body to the next.....I dont know if all souls do this, but I think there are many who do!

When I look back on that period - I feel I was pursing 'validating' information my parents and family could 'sink' their teeth into. My Dad was into genealogy and had books, records, papers, information and photographs of his Grandfather in a Civil War uniform. I recall asking the first classmate during that year, "Aren't you curious at all about who we were and what we did during that life?" His reply was, "Don't you know that curiosity killed the cat." I am not saying my young friend was right or wrong in his approach - but I can say I was a little disappointed. I felt we were equal partners in the situation and his opinion was to be respected and listened to.

The second classmate wasn't much better and once again I found myself dealing with someone's religious beliefs. With the second classmate -- I took the approach to validate my NDE's with him first - and set up an occasion to make an 'appearance' to him in an out of body experience. I knew the loophole and knew I had to have 'two keys' to unlock that treasure chest of 'hidden knowledge' concerning our past life connection. Long story short with him, he acknowledged that he had 'feelings' of that connection but - was very reluctant to allow that information into his conscious mind. He was afraid of it due to his religious beliefs. He came up with the idea more so than me.

He consented to allow my spirit to pay his spirit a visit during the night and I could 'pull him' out to sit on the bed - where we could and would discuss any and all information he had access to pertaining to any and all past life memories. He wanted to buffer that through a dream-like state. The problem with was - unless we spoke about it directly on the physical plane - it would evaporate with time and disappear from my own conscious mind.

Here we were as a couple of 12 year olds trying to negotiate a settlement between us.

"Okay, what about this. Will that work?"

His attitude was that if God hid that information inside of us -- it was hidden for a reason. During our negotiations, the most he said he would be willing to 'do for me' was to walk with a firm belief in reincarnation -- but he didn't want to walk with any direct knowledge that made him 'know without a doubt' that reincarnation was true. And, to walk with a belief in reincarnation, he would only do so with his Mother's permission.

"If she says it is okay, then I will give you that much and nothing more."

continued.....

continued...

So, we had to wake his 'Mom' up in an 'out of body' sequence and tell her spirit what was going on to make the decision whether or not he could walk with a belief on his mind about potential past life memories. Of course, I told him,

"If I get to talk to your Mom while I am out of her body and she is out of her body - she can't deny that you and I had a past life together. You can't deny it. You can deny it while your awake in this world - but if you wake up on the other side with me - it is going to be there."

For myself at the age of 12, I was past the point of discussing reincarnation or spiritual issues with my parents. I had a long history of confusing them and they didn't want the subject brought up again. The two classmates were very adamant about bringing their parents into the loop and not doing anything without their parents knowledge or consent ....rightfully so.

I told him that while we were 'out of body' we could and would decide what we would or wouldn't remember when we woke up. It was agreed upon that his Mom would be left totally in the dark when she woke up. I was going to be left in the dark until he confirmed he had been granted permission from his Mom. This was done with the idea that if he had permission - his Mom was going to wake up the next morning saying she couldn't figure out if it was dream or if her son had woke her up in the middle of the night asking her a silly question. If she woke up the next morning and gave him the answer to that silly question - then her heart and soul had consented to give him permission to walk with a firm and solid belief that he and I had shared a past life together - without knowing the intimate details of that past life.

I didn't know anything when I woke up. I had consented to leave that 'out of body experience' with him and his Mom - buried in my unconscious until he found out if he had permission from his Mom or not. He came running to my house all excited saying,

"I wouldn't have believed it. I wouldn't believed it was possible. SHE asked me if I had asked her that silly question in the middle of the night - and told me she couldn't tell if it was a wild dream or - if I had actually woke her up. She remembers seeing you but she can't remember what you two talked about. I wouldn't have believed it. I believe Buddy, I truly believe we shared a past life together. Not only that, but I believe you and I are going to share a future life together"

I didn't see that one coming. I don't know what we had discussed together in the 'out of body' segment that led to this revelation but it sort of stunned me. It made sense after I thought about. It made me realize we (our spirits) had actually explored the real deal on the other side. We never discussed the details of that past life with one another while awake but always knew we had come to one another in a dream and shared those secrets with one another. In fact the last words he spoke to me when my family moved away was, "I will see you in the next life."

Sincerely,

DKing

After this experience with my two young friends I came to many of my own realizations about reincarnation. I had often asked adults if they could remember a past life - would they. Strange how they always said they would if they could. Yet, I encountered two people whom I knew without a doubt had shared a past life with me - and both of them used a 'free will' option NOT to remember.

I came to the firm belief that people who walked without memories of a past life - did so by a 'choice' that they had control over one way or another on a conscious or unconscious level. I learned to respect people's belief or 'disbelief' in reincarnation and realized that what a person thought at any given time - didn't change the truth that was hidden within.

That is when I coined the phrase 'sleepwalkers' for people in denial of reincarnation who walked with a mental 'disbelief.' Their disbelief wasn't going to change my 'truth' one way or another. I knew they would wake up to the truth one way or another - one day or another.

The first classmate had told me,

"You have no idea how dramatic that was for me ... how much it has changed me and my family. I want to take it slow and easy and don't want to bite off more than we can chew on together."

I think that is why I never again pursued trying to figure out more details about 'standing by the fence' in a past life with the other classmate. His spirit knew those secrets. My spirit knew those secrets. If it was important for us to know something - it would come to us out of the blue like it had the first time.

I don't think I ever rid myself of that curious mind wondering what was hidden away in that former life. As my one friend said,

"We don't need to find the graves our old bodies are buried in to find the truth. The truth is within us and has revealed itself to us in a way far beyond what looking at an old gravestone will do."

I told him,

"It would still be nice to have a photograph of that to pull out of your back pocket to tell a story with."

I think I totally lost interest in that gravestone photograph when I met a 'third' classmate when I transferred to a Junior High. The minute we laid eyes on one another, he walked over and asked,

"Where do I know you from? I can't shake this feeling that I know you very well. Why is that?"

I asked him,

"How much do you really want to know about that .... or how much do NOT want to know about that. It is believable for some and unbelievable for others. Which are you?"

My attitude after that was - why go searching for old gravestones for yourself - or for others when their ghost don't live there. You will find the 'ghosts of your past' hidden in the eyes of strangers all around you.

Sincerely,

My NDE's sort of had an influence on this 'metaphor' because I was constantly hopping in and out of the same body. The metaphor for me - was a direct reference to my belief that all souls reincarnate whether people chose to believe so or not. For me, I dealt with people on a dual basis. The human mortal mind was the 'shadow' cast upon the world by the 'eternal light of soul'. There was the 'shadow mortal mind' and then there was the 'light immortal mind.' I became consciously aware of this at the age of 12 and after the incident I describe here with my young friend where he thought it was best to allow his 'spirit' to carry those secrets for him. I thought it was best to deal directly with mystical topics by directing my Q and A's with people to the 'light side' or 'immortal' aspect of their being. I could get honest and sincere answers from the 'soul' of an individual - while the human mortal mind is not always direct and honest - especially when it came to 'religious' or 'spiritual beliefs.' The world has a habit of leading human minds astray from the truth of their own inner hearts.

I never meant to imply that 'souls' jump around from one body to another during a singular life or incarnate into multiply bodies during a single lifetime. In all my years of experience dealing directly with spirit - I have no memory of ever seeing, witnessing or having experiences with anything that would lead me to the opinion or belief this is possible.

After my 1978 NDE, many people theorized that a 'different soul' had picked up (or hopped into my body) and took control of my body when I claim to have died in a car accident and came back to life. I had no memories and some people (not professionals) came up with all sorts of wild theories about why I walked with no memories of them, and why my personality had changed. (Trust me, amnesia will change your personality.) There was a perfectly sound medical reason for my amnesia which was a side effect to my childhood cardiac condition (and I worked with trained and qualified professionals for advise and guidance)...but this didn't stop some people from allowing their 'wild imaginations' to run away with them and speculate that a 'different soul' was inhabiting my body. So, I pursued this topic on the spiritual level for several years. (I even talked to the professionals and their analysis of such speculation was old fashioned superstition.) I feel I left no 'stone' un-turned in my pursuit of this subject matter and found nothing that would indicate such a thing is possible. My opinion on it - anyway after devoting two years of time and research into the subject for very personal reasons. I had a very sincere interest motivated by a severe case of retrograde amnesia.

Oh sorry....what I meant was they incarnate right away, right after the last life....with no break in between lives. Go straight into another body:) I should have been more specific! I have never heard of a soul incarnating more than one body(other than possession) I dont have any personal experiences with the other. I was just thinking about how some peoples past lives almost overlap their present lives, I can only imagine that would wear a soul out at some point. I know I feel tired in this life. It sounds like something I would do:D

I got an earful of a theory present to me along the lines of mulitipy souls incarnating the same body ..... which ....is just that...a theory.

But yeah, I had an experience with my cousin - who died in Oct of 1988. I had a profound vision with his spirit which led me to sincerely believe that my 'unborn' nephew at the time was going to be his next incarnation. My Nephew was born in Dec of 1988. I walked with a solid and firm belief in that vision for 12 years before my nephew finally said something to me that actually confirmed the belief and turned it into 'knowledge' of his reincarnation as a fact. Strange how he spoke to me about it and gave me the confirmation I had been longing for - and then a few short months later, he had no memory of the profound spiritual conversation we had earlier. Par for the course.

Seems like 2 months is a short time in 'world time' but in my NDE's - I always gave testimony that a few minutes in the afterlife or eternity was like a 'million years.' So, from a 'soul's perspective' - there wouldn't be a sense of a mad rush -- but I could imagine that from a mortal point of view - it might seem like that 'white knuckle' - wind blowing the hair back sensation of 'here we go again.'

My experience with other cases seem to point to a relatively short amount of time in between incarnations. Over the years, the conscientious I have picked up from others who shared a belief in reincarnation was that it takes several hundreds of years to get back into the world again.

Maybe the population explosion over the last century has decreased the waiting time to get back in.

My attitude (with a mortal human mind is) I would want to take a couple of centuries off time to have a extended vacation before jumping back into the 'kangaroo pouch' to go on another ride though this world.

The 'biggest fear' I have is finally getting to the end of my road in this lifetime - only to step out of my body and see that 'dang kangaroo' with his hand on the pouch saying,

"Hurry up, get in. I got another body and life time picked out for you. We got to hurry up and get to the hospital, your new body is about to be born."

Them spirits know me well enough to know how I would respond to that sort of quick transition. I would be running fast, hard and quick to get on the other side of the universe to hide behind what ever star or planet I could find, peeking around the sides trying to spy that kangaroo hopping toward my hiding spot so I could get another made dash head start to get away from that idea for awhile.

Sincerely,

There was the mystical side of the 'drama' between myself and the two classmates - trying to cope with the reality of past lives and our own current life. We were just boys and the world still seemed new to us. There was a human side of the drama unfolding that caught me totally off guard and completely by surprise. If I was able to add all our time and conversations together - the subject of reincarnation was way less than 2%. We were too busy living a 'boys life.'

When I found the 'second classmate and realized that he too shared a past life memory with me - I thought the first classmate would be happy to hear this sort of news. He wasn't. They became bitter and sworn enemies to one another almost overnight. (They had known each other since kindergarten.)

The first one became extremely jealous of me spending time with the second one. "I was first. First come first serve. I can't help it if he wasn't here the first week you showed up." If I tried to balance the time equally - the second one became jealous.

I was constantly having to step between the two of them - and hold them back with my arms extending to keep them from 'killing each' other.

That is another reason I wanted to explore the 'past life' scenario behind us to see if that 'feud' had followed us into the world from a past life. I could never determine if they both knew me from the same past life - or if it was from different life times.

I knew that a 'divine brotherly love' existed between the heart and soul of the first classmate - as well as between myself and the second classmate. My assumption was - they should have the same 'feeling' between the two of them and be one big happy family with it.

I don't know where I got the 'idea' given to me from - either someone here in this world or one of the spirits I worked with during my NDE's - stated that passion was like a coin. It had two sides to it and that passion would follow us into the next life. If they had developed a 'hateful' passion between them in a past life that passion would follow them from life time to life time until they learned to bury the hatchet.

I told them,

"The last thing I want to do is wake up in a new body in a different life time - and find myself being a referee to you two fellows in your ongoing feud. Lets find a way for you two to bury the hatchet here and now."

This was around the time when 'spirits' attitude was 'nothing is written in stone' - so they wouldn't allow me any details and wanted me to work on the situation with a human mortal point of view - without too much benefit from insights from spirit.

When I had my NDE's and found myself outside of my body seeking counsel and advise spirit would just fill my mind with possibilities. According to them, I had to learn to make choices.

"It could be this reason, this reason, or this reason. There are many reasons for this sort of thing to take place in the mortal world of time."

They constantly told me, "Figure it out for yourself."

My attitude was there was a wealth of information hidden away someone in a safe of the unconscious spiritual mind. (Past life memories.) I felt if I could get my hands on that wealth and spread it around my problems would disappear and everyone would be happy. My attitude was that the spirits I worked with (including my own soul) was being 'stingy' with it.

I knew that everything I was going through with them was related to a past life - but - I didn't know how.

Sincerely,

DKing

I know that during this period - past life recall of 'other lives' was ongoing. To me, it was like getting hit by a 'ton of bricks.' I didn't want information from 'other lives' coming back and intruding on my mind. I want 'info' about the life time where I was standing by the fence. That is why I couldn't understand the reaction of the first classmate. He felt it was 'dramatic' and overwhelming. I told him - that episode compared to some of my other 'episodes' of past life recall was very, very mild. In fact it was very, very pleasant. Some of the other stuff I recalled wasn't dramatic as much as it was 'traumatic.' In comparison - I would much rather be standing next to a person and get spontaneous recall together - and only get very limited information compared the overload I felt I was getting from some of the other.

I usually only spoke to my parents about the 'warrior' past life. When I started talking about several others, they threw there hands up in the air and said it was hard for them to deal with multiply past life memories. There tune and attitude changed when the born-again Christian came calling and stated he was 100% convinced I was telling the truth and had changed his mind about reincarnation. As a child, I was sort of resentful that my parents listened to a stranger over me - and that a stranger had listened to me over my parents.

At the age of 13, I was being taken seriously and being asked all sort of 'dumb' questions and I grew tired of the attention from it.

When I 14, I had meet the sixth one I had spontaneous 'past life' recall and he insisted we share the information with our parents. He felt a 'parent' had a right to know this. My Dad expressed hurt feelings that I hadn't shared the experience of meeting the other five with him. The first two I refused to talk or even hint about their identity. I told him, "I am used to you guys calling me a liar. I am not going to stand by and watch you call my friends a liar."

At the age of 14 was when my Dad started talking everything I said about past lives 'very seriously.' He felt having found a past life companion who shared like memories was unique and very extraordinarily. Even my Mom came to admit that 'maybe' it was possible that the 'hand of God' was in play and it was too much of a mystery for her mind to comprehend. My Mom because neutral on the subject - but told me she was going to play the 'devil's advocate' and give me a hard time because she felt the world wasn't ready for that sort of 'truth' and was going to give me a hard time for it.

By the age of 15, I had met a total of eight 'spontaneous' companions who shared the exact same recall dramatic episode with me while we were standing together. What was important to me during this time was - I had learned how to 'block' it - or 'bury' it as fast as I received it. Past life 'recall' became like a book. If I got to a 'page' and didn't want to know anything with my current mind about what was on that page, I would flip it over real fast and not have it 'burn' a vivid image in my current 'teenaged' mind.

By the time I was 17 y/o - the number of spontaneous recall was 12 others my age. There were others but I don't count the ones where I had recall of and they were 'sleepwalking' with no access to their past life memories. I had a rule not to wake them up and bother them with it. One sleepwalker, I couldn't resist. We had been so close in a previous incarnation - and I felt insulted when I felt 'snubbed' when he 'ignored' me. I chased after him and woke him up to his recall. I did it in an 'out of body' experience and thought he would 'go back to sleep' and forget it the next morning. He didn't. He came to me in person and we acknowledge the past life memories together. I kept apologizing for 'waking him' up but he told me he was glad I did.
