Strong emotional connection w/ a relative stranger

Strange Feelings..after meeting a person for the 1st time

Have any of you experimented weird feelings after meeting an individual that you have never met before?

May be like an attraction feeling but actually more like..i have seen that person before but i cant remember where..

Hello Charlotterob, welcome to the PLF!

I think there are several people here who will acknowledge meeting or encountering people with premonitions of a prior encounter or knowledge. It happens to me on rare occasions and they certainly are powerful feelings for me. It is as if I know them. I also have found that the encounters are often accompanied by unusual synchronous circumstance. A new member of a society I am in, had a very familiar/comfortable feel about them. As we talked, it turns out we share the same birthday, we are uncommonly connected in interests and had a very unusual relationship issue. It was uncanny. Why or how these people connect to us...I don't know. Could be coincidence....but I don't believe in them. It's like you...I see we have the same join date! Simple yet interesting, don't you think. The mystery is wonderful.

How about you? Do you have similar encounters?

Yep, I know that weeeeeeeeeird feeling.

I think it can sometimes take a little while to untangle the PL memories, if they exist, from the hormonal cascade of the human body.

Many years ago I met a man while traveling. We instantly started talking and acting like old friends even though we'd never met in this life. I felt an immediate physical attraction. But, a few days later, that turned to regular old affection, more like what one would feel for a close friend or dear sibling. We spent a week together before going our separate ways. That was almost 20 years ago and we still keep in touch perhaps once a year (he lives on the other side of the planet). I feel confident that we knew each other in some capacity, and I wonder what purpose (if any) our brief meeting served in this life other than just to say, Hey, how ya doing???

When I first laid eyes on the man who would become my husband and the father of my children, I felt an odd combination of overwhelming attraction with an undercurrent of trepidation. Not the garden-variety "am I ready for a relationship", more like "o lord here we go again". He's a believer in reincarnation, and within a couple of weeks we were both able to confirm that we recognized each other.

anyone else had that "ah-ha!" moment meeting someone?

this is just the most fascinating and interesting forums and i like being able to participate on it

has anyone else had that ah-ha! kind of moment when you meet someone for the first time? like you already knew them? this may not pertain to PL and feel free to move it where its' appropriate...

the clearest one i've had was meeting someone at my ex-husband's hotel that he managed...i walked in by the front desk and this tall, blond, (and, yes, CUTE) guy was checking in and we looked at each other and smiled and said "hi" like we always knew each other, like you would greet a long lost friend....we sat in the lobby and talked for like three hours and would have for longer if i didnt realize i shoudl probably go back to my office sometime that day  we got to kn ow each other while he was in town and stay in touch to this day, six years later

the second clearest one i've had was with my current fiance...back when we knew each other only online, he sent me a photo and my first thought was "oh thats HIM" and something in me recognized him..not just the physical of course...but the inside...its hard to explain....he didnt look like what i thought he'd look like, but i cant pinpoint what i expected either....

i dont know if much of this makes sense and might even belong somewhere else but i thought i'd put it out there to see if others have also

How Would I Know We Lived Before Together

Hello

I have met someone and have that funny feeling when I look at her she is almost familiar.I had this feeling from day one.

Like we had shared a past life with her.

I can see my self when I look into her eyes. Her soul is open for me.We even wear the same clothes.(colour type),behaviour and we have this amazing attraction.(not sexual).

What are the proofs of us having shared a past life together How can we find out ?Should I tell her.

Can we really tell what are the signs.?

The soul connection is very strong.

Has anyone else felt this way too before and what happened?

Thankyou.

Hi Persuasion

I have met a few people that I have recognised from a pastlife and with some of them it has been a very intense experience. With a few of them it was a deep soul recognition and a inner knowing. The first time I encountered it I remember feeling very confused and overwhemled by the experience.

It is my beleif that the only proof can come from within and is not something that can be proven to anyone else.

I would personally be cautious of telling anyone that I had shared a pastlife with them, unless I knew that person very well and had discussed reincarnation with them, and knew what their beleifs on it were first.

Kind Regards

Kay

Hi Persuasion,

If you want to explore the possibility of you and her having a shared a past life together try meditating while focusing on her picture. It could trigger past life memories. You may also try to go with your intuition - what do you think of when you think about her? You say it's not a sexual attraction, so do you feel parental, brother or sister or 'just' friendly? Do you associate her with a certain smell, food, country - something that is different from your current life?

I agree with Kay on being cautious with telling her unless you know they believe in reincarnation.

Anyone felt this friend connection?

I was unsure whether to post this here or in memories...my feelings are like memories, but not memories as such, and this is more of a question post so..I hope I have the right section and apologies if I don't =).

Anyway, here goes...

About two years ago, I met one of my very best friends. The way in which we met, well, we could've very easily missed each other. But we didn't. And I believe so deeply that we shared at least one PL together in some way. Question is, in what way, and why are we together now? I'm hoping someone here has experienced or is experiencing the connection I am about to describe...

We're closer than close. We confide in each other pretty much everything. We've taught each other so much in such a short space of time, and we continue to do so often. We speak almost every day, and when we don't, we are sure to make up for it with plenty of hugs. We say I love you every time we speak, and when we argue...well...it feels as though as my whole world stops, it's all I can focus on until things are okay between us again. The times when one of us has tried to walk away from the other, it's felt as though my heart has been ripped from my chest, and life as I know it won't ever be the same. It's just so intense, even to the point of being connected in the absence of each other (eg: one time she desperately needed to talk to me but for one reason or another, I was uncontactable. All that day, signs of me kept popping up for her, in big obvious ways such as turning the radio on to a favourite song of mine). We're no longer surprised by such events anymore, and even though she's unsure how she feels about reincarnation, she is also adamant that we were brought together for a reason.

Has anyone else felt/feels such an intense connection with just a friend? I'm not clingy, I don't get attached easily and I'm not a crier but I feel as though I cannot be me fully without her and she always manages to reduce me to a sobbing mess. I literally feel pain when I feel like I'm losing her, I think of her everyday and I always know when something's not right in her world. We've both tried more than once to walk away (constant arguing, dragging each other down), but something always pulls us back. It's just so, so intense, it's almost indescribable. Does anyone have any insight into why we're together, what we might've shared in a PL, etc? This connection does my head in. But I love her beyond words. As a friend, no more, but in such a different way to others I also love. Help?

Hi RainyDays,

Yes i've felt a similar intense connection like yours, but in your case, I think you and your friend share a deep soul connection.

Many people (for an example) believe that a soulmate could be that special person who you eventually marry and spend the rest of your life with. However, a soulmate could be anyone from say... your father... to a friend of the same gender. It goes far deeper than just physical and emotional attraction, it's more about the resonation and vibration between two souls, you may find this thread interesting: Soul Mates

Do either you or your friend meditate? It would be interesting if you could do a shared meditation together, you may find that you have been together in several previous lives, and yes, I agree that there is a purpose behind you finding each other in this life, but the reasons are for you both to find out for yourselves, nobody else can help you there i'm afraid.

I'm curious to know why you've tried to walk away from each other when there appears to be a very strong bond between the two of you? I've recently had somebody come into my life and we share a similar connection to that of you and your friend, it's like a special gift that you should hold on to, because many people go through life without ever finding their soulmate. I know that my friend and I will always be a part of each others lives......and many more lives to come - ;)

Chris - :)

Hello. It's been a while since I've posted here but here I am again. There has been a major update in my relationship with this person, the major point being that there is no relationship anymore. I would say that I regret to inform you were are no longer on speaking terms...but the thing is, I don't regret. I'm much happier these days, strangely, and I've been getting so much more out of my relationships with others as I'm now emotionally available in a positive way.

I was compelled to come back and visit this forum earlier tonight and found myself researching soul connections once again, as I do from time to time. I was reading about 'energy vampires' and it struck a chord with me to the extreme. Something suddenly clicked, in particular: Energy vampires are those who somehow spiritually sense our power and energy to come into our lives to using us as a crutch, often draining us through their need to explain their problems and us be the solution.

Frequently they will use our caring, giving nature to assist them with their lives, often becoming too close and draining and we don't seem to be able to find a way to tell them that this is something we aren't comfortable with and so we allow it to continue to an abusive level.

There had been more than one comment by others that my ex-friend's treatment of me was emotionally abusive.

Some will migrate to that energy for healing and comfort, the 'karmic vampire', others will fall for the energy in a romantic way and become instantly attached, with others seeking us out as a focus for blame and negative attention ( karmic dumping ). When confronted with their actions, even in the most caring and compassionate of ways, aggression and blame are often the responses they visit upon us as they lash out...

Basically, our friendship ended one night when I confronted her about how she had emotionally hurt me some weeks ago and still hadn't heard me out about what happened. Try as I may to get the message across, she failed to see that she'd done a thing wrong, and finally I'd reached a point where I would not back down for the sake of harmony. I would no longer blame myself or brush aside my feelings. And that's when she ended things. That's when she walked away. After everything, after all I posted about previously. She walked away. It's been nearly two weeks. I've had my moments and I've lashed out at others (who have luckily understood) but I'm fine. Really, completely fine.

I still stand by what I posted before. About that strong connection. Something is telling me my previous need for her to be in my life stems from a PL. I took part in a pl regression workshop a few months back. She was one of the faces I saw and that day something made me wonder could she have been my daughter. As I type this, something is telling me yes, or at least a much younger sister. I had some authority over her, which would explain away why she'd always tell me to stop mothering her, or complain that I was judging her when all I felt I was doing was looking out for her. We'd had plenty an argument over my 'mothering', and yes, I have a maternal nature but I do not have such a dynamic with others, not even my actual younger sister figures. With those two, it's an even keel.

I keep wondering if she, as my daughter/sister, betrayed me somehow in a pl. I always felt such an innate distrust in her, yet such a profound connection as explained in my previous post. I know she and I are pl connected and this is making more and more sense the more I type. Why on earth would she be an 'emotional vampire' though? Perhaps she felt I owe her, seeing as I was her mother/older sister? In the early days of our friendship, she looked to me for strength. It's all starting to fall into place, everything but her emotional abuse of me...

And why am I okay with being without her despite my previous post? Maybe I needed to sever ties, and actually standing up to her in this lifetime did it.

I do hope I'm making sense. I'm typing so fast. Well, I am a fast typer but this is longer than I intended but it keeps typing itself.

That felt good. Wow.

Hi Rainydays... I certainly have been there.. I am glad you are finding your strength to learn and learn some more. and see beyond these draining connections to see people as people with problems that maybe we cannot help .

I beleive we are ultimately looking for that family structure we want to feel safe in , through the patterns of our karmic families. So this woman could have been a daughter, a mother, even the opposite sex as a father or brother. As we grown as souls we learn to see beyone these roles and learn to give back to those who may have strayed..

I beleive we remain in these strong emotional connections looking to maintain a sense of belonging and purpose. We often look for purpose through drama -- ie our creative urge. The problem is the drama can turn out to be negative. Yet because of our lack of understanding and wisdom and courage we remain bound to this negative drain.

I have remembered the experiences I have had and roles I had with several people who I ran into this life. It helped tremendously getting to know how I perceived things in my past and what things I may have not understood from those times. Through losing some neiviety and learning to set more personal boundaries I am finding alot more happiness and peace..

It could be worth your time to do some regression work , if you have any residual anxieties when thinking of your friend . What drew you to an interest in reincarnation to begin with??

Hi, soulfriendly. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences, it's definitely food for thought and adds to my learning.

I don't have anxieties, which I feel is to do with severing ties, and further makes me feel that severing those ties was in the plan all along. But regression work for sure. I've already seen her once in a basic meditation, she is for sure going to pop up again and questions will be answered...or more like suspicions confirmed, I feel.

What drew me, well...that's a seemingly simple question that I do not have a clear answer to. Reincarnation has always been fact for me. I was never taught it, I don't recall reading it in a book...however, the earliest memory I have of actually talking about it is in my early teens. Actually, I recall a time in my pre-teen years when a girl at school claimed to have lived before because she has a birthmark and I remember feeling a sense of 'that's not how it works'. It's funny what I'm remembering from childhood and the teen years now I'm in my 20s and am further delving into reincarnation. Anyway, in my early teens I started saying things like "I wonder who I was and what I did, where I was, what happened to me". My mother discouraged me from investigating as I was only 13/14 and she was concerned in the way of "what if something horrible happened to you, or you did something wrong". But I kept wondering and every so ofen would go through a spiritual spirt where I'd think and question. It's now in my 20s that I'm actually investigating further.

I really hope all that made sense

Yes I can see how as a teenager you just kind of knew and needed a way of making the belief part of you.

I never felt drawn to it until my flashback at age 48 , then i could not let it go. I really was thinking about it 24 hours a day since that very traumatic flashback..

BUt it was difficult for me to truly beleive . I am just coming to terms with my definite belief in having had many past lives. Sure I had these memories and there were signs that it really did happen.. but I was often second guessing myself probably because I was having anxiety around these painful past life experiences. . I knew on one level but because I was alone in my emotional tensions , I would second gues my emotional sense when having these anxieties and did not know how to make these parts of me settle into the me who is alive now. . It did not help to be thinking that I was different.

I recently recieved a healing from god . I awoke in the night to be feeling this anxiety again. I reached out to ask that I no longer be affected by my past . It really was like I did not have anyone to share my feelings with to find some help, and that night , there was god to be there for me. I no longer have that nervous edge of questioning and second guessing myself. I have reached alot more of that peace I was so looking for.

You are not alone Rainydays! And you are making perfect sense. No doubt, you have past life difficulties with this person which are affecting your present life. I would say you certainly need to 'stand up to her'. Obviously it is right, since it felt so good?

You may even need to 'sever ties', at least for a time, at least in this life. Perhaps a 'time out' is indeed called for? If there is something drawing you together though, and the feeling is so strong, it is worth further investigation.

Frequently they will use our caring, giving nature to assist them with their lives, often becoming too close and draining and we don't seem to be able to find a way to tell them that this is something we aren't comfortable with and so we allow it to continue to an abusive level.
As to 'emotional vampires', soulfriendly says, though, quite rightly, peace comes from within. Don't give away your 'energy' or your 'power' to someone who will abuse you. That's only sensible. Boundaries need to be maintained. The question is where to place them and the most loving way to enforce them?

The same is true in any life, past or present. No doubt the answer to this conundrum is right before you. Definitely, some 'time out' is needed to discover it.

To me the energy between ‘come with me and run wild and through our passion we’ll explore the dangerous places in our souls, for good or ill, where pain and pleasure collide, and from this we will learn and blossom’ is very different from ‘chew your veggies thoroughly, wear your boots, don’t take risks- you’ll hurt yourself, you dumb kid’. Having both impulses emanating from the same soul seems self-defeating.
Ah, that's easy :) The same soul has not only occupied two bodies, two concious minds in these two lives but, they've been conditioned to behave in their respective ways by society at large.

I just see this as us playing roles with other actors playing their roles with us in each performance. I think If I learnt my sister was my lover in a past life, I'd laugh. It would be a bit weird but wouldn't disturbed me. I mean, she wasn't my sister in that life, she would've been too different, just I would've been too different.

If I find out things like this, I'd make efforts to separate things here. Focus on the fact that what was past before this reality is many different lives, many different realities, being many different people while the people around you were many different people. Everyone and everything in the past is far removed from todays setup. Everyone and everything in the future will be far removed from what we are and experience today. It had to be, it has to be and will have to be.

Never think of past live relationships in the here and now. They exist in another life, another time. They don't exist now. :)

I agree we have been conditioned in our perspective ways and indeed we are different people. . What I do not agree with is you second point Justin as we do need to think of the past relationships as being in the here and now. This happens because our attachments are through our hearts { the lasting part of our soul} Through this we can be reacting in the same way , both in our past and in our present life .. I believe becoming aware of these patterns is what is so revealing when doing regression therapy work.

my brothers

When I say " my brothers " I am referring to all of my brother roles.... my this life brothers , my past life brothers to me, and the roles I played to others as brothers. I am female this life.. and do remember past lives as a male

. I do think that our feelings can remain untouched by the amount of time we spend in life upon life. Even through many different lives our feelings of longing for people can remain in our subconscious , so that when we meet someone we are immediately drawn to them .

I find things go in cycles. For awhile I may be thinking a lot of my father and my past life father figures.. Then it will be my sister energy coming through. This past week it was about my brothers and my brother energy .. I get these coincidences and feelings that churn up the underlying emotions from my past , until something comes together around a past life memory , I like to use my awareness of past life family roles , to do therapy and help myself . I see family roots is a basic motivating force to bring about change as we experience the different roles in our families.

There was this healing technique which I now have forgotten the name of . In this healing is found through finding ones proper position in the family. I believe this is my path this life.. finding my proper position in my family of thousands of years. When I meet strangers and am attracted to them , I can quickly determine if they were once a family member in a past life.

This healing I had this morning started last week through my mother and brother connection. My friend Js mother died last week., In the 1600s this friend J .was a sister to me a then male/BROTHER .. Right away I started thinking unusually about my friend Deb who had died two years ago.. Deb had been my mom in a life in 600 AD and in another in 1400s she was a good friend of my sister , me being a male / BROTHER.

When I first moved to this city I went to a man , Brian , for some nutritional consultations I was immediately attracted to him.. But I felt he was someone I could not trust. I picked up that he was someone who ran around with /on his ladies in his life. My hunches were later verified. I had two memories of being with him.. The earliest being a BROTHER , the other a husband .

I later met Deb I felt compelled to get to know her and went out of my way to stick my nose into her life...

I later met Elaine, .In the past life Deb was a friend to Elaine , . Elaine in the 1300s was my then sister to me a male/BROTHER. Both Deb and E were nuns at a monastery in the 1300s

Upon knowing Debbie , she told me about Brian .. She had lived with him for some time and he had run around on her.. Plus there were a few other stories of him being a philanderer,, Hearing of this about Brian ,,, did not squelch my attraction to him.. I was mad at myself ,,, I could not accept that I would bother emotionally with someone whose actions hurt people < That was not enough of a changing realization for me to forget and yes obsess about Brian.

This week my energies around BROTHERS was coming up.. First with J , whose mother who had died. Then with Elaine who I visited , THen when I was reminded of a past life with my now BROTHER , David .. These thoughts of David was really bothering me.. I knew that some emotional problem was coming to the surface and that i needed to do some meditative work around it. .

This morning things were semi resolved.. ie I feel like some of that weight is lifted off of me as I remembered my life with Brian .. In the 1600s Brian [ the womaniser ] was my wife.. I was an Indian warrior who was killed in battle.. In the memory , uipon getting struck by an arrow from an Indian enemy and falling from my horse my thoughts upon dieing were my deep, deep longing for my wife..

The deep longing for my then wife never left me.. so when I met Brian , even though my mind said I was not interested my heart could not let it go.

I now can say since reflecting more on this life as an Indian warrior,, that that feeling of missing Brain was then , It was in my history , He has changed , He is a different person to me... and our relationship is not the same..

Now I feel his presence more as a brother , as he was in the first life I remember him. I wonder that there was some sort of family dysfunctional pattern in that original family that may have lead us to refind each other as husband and wife.. Maybe more to remember..

Update on my situation:

My ex friend has since contacted me. Out of the blue, Christmas eve to say Merry Christmas. She told me that sometimes she feels she did the wrong thing and that she misses me and still loves me. I've moved on and I've been fine but she...this pl connection still isn't 100 percent clear but it's coming into play again. Talking to her again was like talking to a different person. I'm playing it by ear, I'm neither pushing it nor pushing her away. I'll let her do what she needs to do and see where it goes, see if I get my answers.

I have been reading alot of everyone's posts on here. One thing I have noticed is that many of you reincarnate with the same ppl over and over again but in different scenarios. Like the same person might be your husband, your wife, your parent, sibling, etc. in different lives. Whats up with that? Isnt it kind of creepy knowing you had intimate relations with someone but now that person is your parent or your child. I'm sorry but Ew! For those of you who have reincarnated and have had relationships like this for example you are now related to your former lover, etc how does it feel? When you find out your family member was a spouse does it make you feel any differently towards them? Would u want to be reincarnated like this ever again? Personally I would be too sickened to find out that i was ever romantically involved with any of my current family members. I would never choose to be romantically linked with any of them. Why would a person choose to be (for example) reincarnated as the daughter of someone they were dating in a PL? I wouldnt want to be coming back as the son or daughter of someone I even found remotely attractive in the PL.
Feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
hello Obie,

I am new here, but I entered here because I am as curious as you are, trying to find out aswers for my questions. So I really think that we choose any of our family members to be in a relationship because This person was so close to us,or maybe a little attractive....but I am sure it has a reason for we choose one of them.for exemplo: my neighbor's son was her lover in her past life .It is a little bit complicate but....my neighbor accepted it as if it is so normal...so different from me because I discovered that my friend that I've been loving since I met him was my son that I killed in my past life.It has been so difficult to deal with, but I will survive.

hello,

I 've got so happy when I read your text ,because a so similar thing happens with me...about two years ago I met a guy,(I am a girl ) since the first minute that we met .we felt something strange.I said that I got happy reading your story because it is similar to mine. This person is just a friend but ...many people that know we both don't think this way, they guess our love is so strong to be just friends. The feelings that you have for this person I have the same, without him....I cry a lot,my world is so strange, but I need to confess during my whole life before knowing him ,I always waited for someone..I really did not know who but... so I married and had a daughter but I still felt that someone was missing.strange for many people and even for me...after meeting him we have been trying to do many things together but...about 1 month we are apart . why ? because our relatioship is so strong that nobody wants to accept me so close to him...and in my case too..because my boyfriend doesn't want me even mention his name. Many people are jealous of us together .This year is so important to me because I discovered that my friend was my son in my last past life and I killed him because i did not accept that he was gay.It hurts a lot ..Now I understand all love that I have to give to him...but I think he does not believe (I told him ,that he was my son;;just this) and... in this life he continue being gay...yeah ;this is true...I know that I paid for my mistakes but I have been dreaming of him everyday...my love for him is stronger than the love for my daughter.I just tell you this story because yours is a little bit similar..we both love people who do not make part of our family but in our heart they are much more important of them. Now you can imagine how important your friend was in your past life.

Hi Nadir, and welcome to the Forum. Relationships can be very confusing, especially when it is acknowledged that past life soul-mates are involved. I think most of us have been there. I know, I have. In fact, I once acted on it and had an affair. But, I realized that I was following a destructive path by playing musical chairs with other people's children, and being with a soul-mate was not worth hurting them, as well as my own children.

The same may not be true of other people, and every path is different. Every love is unique. And what I learned may not apply at all to others. But, I've been able to warn my sons to be careful of what they wish for, whenever they eventually meet up with their soul-mates; because there may be issues to be worked out that are not always good.

I wish you happiness and light.

I think that your "ew" feelings about reincarnating with family members is natural from a human perspective. It is the way things are from a soul perspective. Regarding your current desire to never be romantically linked with a past family member, I would be surprised if you are not linked right now. As you know, souls play male and female roles on earth and they do it with their soul groups and others who want to play a part in their production on earth. Interesting that in a conference room of 1200 people the lecturer on reincarnation asked everyone to shake the hand of the person next to them...as sometime over the eons of our many lives you have slept with that person!

My wife now was formerly my mother; my mother now was formerly my daughter and son; my ex-fiance was formerly my sister and mother; my father now was formerly my brother/son/father... the list goes on and on.

Regarding how it feels to know these souls from other lives, well, it feels good, comforting and reassuring. I have always felt very close to my parents, never like a parent/child relationship, but rather they played an educational role. I never had any difficulty talking to them about matters that arose or problems I had...they were and are very helpful and positive and we are great friends even now.

As for the ex-fiance, I was overwhelmed upon meeting her. It was as if we walked back into an extremely close relationship after a period of absence and were deeply involved in a remarkably short time. Over months circumstances pushing us apart prevailed and we haven't been in touch in 20 years. She has been my wife many times previously as well as most recently my sister then mother. We are primary soul mates and have played first chair for each other hundreds of times.

My wife now was another woman who attracted me deeply upon first sight. She is another primary soul mate and we have been together many times previously as well...most recently I was her son.

I don't see it as "incestuous" or somehow distasteful, rather I think of it as a group of souls with close relationships playing different roles for each other and experiencing common events from different perspectives. Our current bodies are nothing more than our costumes while we play this role, enabling our character to fit into the play with seamless relational accuracy.

Obie, I understand you posted your comments a few years ago and that you might not feel the same way now. Regardless, I think your point was interesting and writing this answer has helped me define another aspect of my own understanding.
