The Afterlife

Has anyone had an experience where they saw themselves in the afterlife, and it then reignited their memories to surface? Late last year, around October I believe, I had a dream where I saw the afterlife, or what I assume was such. Since then, I've had memories coming to me in a large amount. They're all coming while I'm awake, or in dreams without much provocation. Can anyone relate?

Unfortunately I can’t help you there, I haven’t had any similar experience to yours. For now I have only seen my past self in the same country, in two different centuries , no afterlife for me, at least not yet, but now I’m curious how was it for you?

I had a dream where I stood in a forest. I saw several trees all around me. I heard furin, chimes, in the distance. I was alone, and I could hear birds chirping, and I could hear the soft soil press beneath my feet with every step. The wind was gentle, and I could hear the leaves rustling softly. The wind caressed my face, and my clothes gently. I walked toward a Torii gate, and passed through it. As I walked through it was as if time shifted, everything slowed down. An insect that flew by was moving so slowly it seemed like time stopped, but in fact it was just moving so slowly it appeared to be still. Everything sounded warped, as if underwater. I felt a feeling of extreme calm, I felt at total peace. I looked down at my feet, my hands, I felt at peace with myself and everything and realised in that moment I had passed away. I remembered that I had died. I felt one with everything, and like everything in existence made sense for that very moment, and then I woke up. Since I dreamt this, my memories from my lifetime in Japan have been flourishing strongly, I seem to receive something new it seems every few days. It felt like an awakening of sorts.

This is such a beautiful description, it feels peaceful even, and I definitely think that might be your afterlife, just as you said I also believe it was an awakening, maybe that was the place your soul went before landing in your current body?

Yes, actually I did have a brief memory of the afterlife once. In one dream I first had a past life memory in which I experienced how I died and after that the dream continued with me finding myself in the astral world or in the afterlife.

I was flying over a beautiful, golden beach and a turquoise and blue coloured sea. I don’t remember having any body or form, it seemed to me like I was a shapeless spirit being or just consciousness travelling through the air. I went down right to the spot where the waves met the shore. It was very peaceful, and I felt one with the surroundings, totally safe and free. The picture in my profile is inspired by this memory.

Then the scene shifted to another place which was like a park or garden. I had my human body from said past life again, but I was aware that I had died and that I was on the other side now. I experienced painfully how my death had affected another person close to me and it also became fully aware to me that my life had just been cut short. Not a very pleasant feeling, and I guess I just needed to go through the pain for once. There was also some symbolism involved during this scene which seemed very clear to me, but maybe wouldn’t be obvious to anyone else.

I woke up after this. Everything I experienced in this dream made total sense to me. Seashores and water in general always had a deep meaning to me. A beach like this would be exactly the place I would go to first after death to recover if I could choose.

Most of my past life memories came to me in dreams, mostly spontaneously. This was surely one of the most remarkable ones and the only one that would include something from the afterlife. It was part of a series of dreams and memories from different past lives I had at that time, but it wasn’t like the beginning of everything.

Btw, the death I remembered right before this was also one of being assassinated. Actually, I wanted to post something about this in your other thread because I can also relate to what you wrote about it there. I hope to get back to you soon.

From what I read on here, past life memories tend to occur in phases for many people. There are times with many memories in a rapid succession and then there are times with none. It was the same with me. So, enjoy the ride ;) and I would advice you to write down everything you remember now in a diary before you possibly forget some of the details later on.

Thanks for the advice, I'll start writing everything down. It's all coming to me so fast as of late.

Thanks also for sharing this, it's beautiful even if tragic at times. You had a remarkable experience, and I look forward to reading more of anything you share :)

I think that all this is nice, interesting, a beginning of a spiritual quest for your evolvement. Your focus on the past will have to be reoriented toward finding out your goals for this life and how to achieve them living in the present and looking forward.

From past life recalls you should try to extract the lessons you learned then, and a guidance for now.

I have been able to see that without knowledge I actually have learned from this life and put the things I learned to practice in this current life. However, now that I'm more aware of who I was it certainly has shaped me as I am today as well. I'll be sure to take lessons from it all however, as I know all we are and will be is shaped from our experience, past life or current.

Although I agree that what we are now is a consequence of our growing and experiencing, I believe that the way we see ourselves now, and the way we "remember our past" experiences are fundamentally shaped (and inherently distorted) by our individual current beliefs, emotions, expectations, focus.

Hummm! does having a conscious OBE count? I had a NDE many years ago. Since then, I have had on and off over the years consciously being out of the body. My trigger for having these experiences is usually a lucid dream. Once I am aware I am dreaming the experience turns into a fully conscious out of the body experience from there going forward. My mind is fully aware, but I am not in my physical body but usually in my astral one. What I have discovered during these experiences is that for the most part most of mankind's religions do not fully prepare one for the reality of what life is like in the astral dimensions or what many would term the afterlife. It's hard to put into words of what life is like there. But it is a very, very busy place. As you have souls that are in-between incarnations living out their afterlife, some that are preparing to incarnate back into the physical world again, some that have just died and crossed over and about a 3/4 of the population that are temporarily there as they incarnated on the physical but are dreaming, or astral projecting and out of the body.

Also, there are at least over a hundred different sub-divisions or planes within the astral world. As souls are usually group together by like mind there. So, every culture, or spiritual belief system has their own versions of heaven over there, so they are separated by one's vibration or frequency within their astral body. Because of this one gravitates towards a subdivision within the astral world that one resonates with inwardly.
Also, the laws of physics operate much differently there due to the nature of astral matter being much finer than physical matter. Eating, sleeping, making money, and protecting oneself from the elements are now gone as these are earth plane concerns that have dropped away. One is now truly free to create whatever reality one wishes through thought and feeling as astral matter responds to thought almost instantly creating form and reality there in a blink of an eye. If one wishes to visit a star system outside of ours one, simply thinks and desires to be there and they are there. As most souls travel by thought there. One could fly in the air like a bird as there is no gravity there. And some do. Also, colors and landscapes are brighter, vivid and more brilliant as astral matter gives off its own light from within. So, a new arrival after earth life is over will find a world much like our own here but a more perfect version of it. So, the only thing that limits one there is the ability to comprehend and understand their new reality. So being curious and open minded helps a great deal in continuing to grow and evolve over there.

There are many books out there that speak of this. I hope this helps some in understanding the afterlife. In a way there is no afterlife, there is only life. Because when death or birth comes, we simply transition from one state of consciousness to another.

Love and peace,

Polaris

Fascinating, reminds me of some things I've experienced before. Thank you for sharing this.
