Uncomfortable in Your New Skin

Hi Baro-san,

I am not sure I can give intuition any more weight than reason. Humans are fallible. Period. To my mind both intuition and reason are useful, and one without the other is a bit like a person with only one leg or one arm. You really need both to function properly. However, to my mind, both rely ultimately on divine revelation, whether previously recorded, or immediately received, for accuracy, insight and advance in spiritual matters. But that's just my "take" on the matter.

In terms of Christianity, I could probably use a Druze format for Christian Reincarnation, with a heaven, hell, purgatory type formula. At any particular time, some are graduating from the process (and going to Heaven), the great majority are having their purgatorial/purifying experiences by repeated immediate reincarnation here, and a few are "flunking out" and getting removed from the process and the prospect of Heaven. So, the immediate reincarnation model has a lot of versatility (except that I don't know that it is true--for anybody).

I do have to admit that I admire the simplicity of the Druze model. It also has some notable benefits, as are made clear in the linked article. People are less concerned about death, as they believe they are immediately reborn. In fact, this has made for very brave Druze soldiers. The article states that: "A common phrase among Druze in the army is “Tonight my mother’s womb”, which references how they will be immediately reincarnated upon dying in battle." There is also a very strong sense of community. I could even go over to a full Druze model in terms of Christianity (as better explained in the article), but I still don't know that it is true (though in some respects I wish that it was).

The way I use this word, intuition is a form of reacting to perception, progressively more evolved than instinct, emotion, intellect. It is a form of accessing your inner senses, of perceiving with them the wider reality not restricted by space, time, probability. Intuition is an aggregate psychic sense. It isn't feeling or guessing, nor inspiration or imagination.

Hi Baro-san,

Overall, I agree with you in terms of valuing this side or aspect of perception and understanding. This "aggregate psychic sense" is the "other leg/arm" that makes a person complete. As such, it is invaluable. It can reveal things that cannot be seen plainly by the intellect. In fact, I believe that some things can only be grasped and felt by the intuition (at least, lacking special grace, in this stage of existence), though the intellect becomes very useful in terms of understanding what is happening. However, I do not consider it infallible (any more than I consider the other aspects of mental perception and experience you list as being infallible). Still, this does not mean that it should not be cultivated, just as the other aspects of being you list should be cultivated and elevated to higher levels. Anyhow, just my two cents. :)
