What do you think would happen if someone famous, such as Jimmy Hoffa came back in a new life remembering who murdered him and where to find his body?
Would they be believed enough to check it out? If they found the body would it be enough to go after the accused?
If so and he/she were arrested what would the trial be like? Would the general public have any part of it or would the skeptics win before it ever got started?
My personal skepticism is rapidly shrinking but old habits are hard to break. I'm still trying to answer the million dollar question.
After the past few days I'd be all over it but I doubt the public would have any part in it.
 
I think that the majority of people won't belive him at first so nobody would even try to find any body. However, if himself and a bunch of other people go try to find the body and they actually find it, it' ll be big news no matter what. Then the testimony of the reincarnated person will be all over the media, whether they believe him or not. With the newfound body new tests are going to be performed and if scientific forensic evidence is enough, they might be able to prove somebody guilty of the crime. The reincarnated person can add details, but they have to be corroborated by actual evidence. If a body is found no skeptics are going to stop investigations, except maybe some brainless ones saying "the body is fake", but I trust that science and common sense will prevail in that case.


So in the end, the difficult part is the first step, discovering the body.
 
The same question could be asked in reference to psychics catching murderers. There are, in fact, documented murder cases in which psychics have helped law enforcement. Clearly, however, one would not expect a psychic to sit in a court witness stand giving direct testimony to what she "saw". But, the fact is, that they have accurately pointed detectives in the right direction, which enabled them to locate sufficient evidence to convict suspects.


There is a specific case of Reincarnation which was investigated by Dr. Ian Stevenson, in which a child returned to his past life village and identified the man who killed him. Of course, the murderer in that case could not be arrested on that account alone, but it must have helped authorities to focus their investigation on that suspect.
 
What if...JH planned to be killed under mysterious circumstances, thus addressing some purpose or direction his greater soul desired to experience...what would be the purpose in dragging in those surviving participants 40 years afterwards? In his shoes, I would hope my new lifeplan would have nothing to do with "digging up the past"...of course, it could be part of the plan that the perpetrators of the crime came to pay for their transgressions, but as a returning soul I'd want none of it.

Before coming to this forum I would have "blown off" the idea as nonsense. Obviously that is no longer the case. After learning what I have I'd follow up every on possible lead and then decide if it was warranted or not.


Amazing... there is a "remote chance" that I really don't know everything after all.

I've read about cases like this. Reincarnation is just accepted as a normal part of life in India of course (and Tibet and Nepal and other places where Buddhism is practised). There still needs to be hard evidence to convict a murderer in court naturally, but if the victim comes back and points out his/her murderer, in India people will take this very seriously and look into it properly.


There is a story in here on page 49 about an incident like that.
